    Fable 2 - Limited Edition?

    Moderators Note:
The Limited Edition has now been confirmed.  More information here.

    Well there I was browsing the xBox forums because my game of Overlord keeps crashing every time I get the Blue Hive, to see if it was my game or my xBox that was the problem, when the completely retarded forum search function threw up something that interested me, so now 10 minutes later and completely side tracked from my original task I am posting here;

    Game Stop appear to be claiming, even before Fable 2 is released, that there is something by the way of a limited edition coming out for the game ... Now I know chances are slilm that anyone at LH will (or is allowed) to confirm that there is or not, but I'll ask anyway;

Anyone at LH is this true? If it is what kind of things would you be putting in? Video Diaries? Concept Art? Fable 2 team photos signed by the whole team? A pocket sized Peter to explain each part of the game as it goes along? (ok that last one is a little ridiculous but you get the gist!)

(saying all this they will probably come on here and deny it now, so this whole thread will be a waste, but fear not for I have a plan for this thread beyond asking a question ...)

So to the rest of you, whilst we wait for a reply, and even after we get one (even if it is a no), what kind of things would you like to see in a Limited Edition version of Fable 2? Personally, I'd like to have maybe a sound track, a few concept art photos, the relevant video diaries and a yoyo (either an LH one in any colour other than clear, or a Fable2 one ... Please make them Dero proof though if they are included ...)

    Our petition worked!  Cheeky [:cheeky:]

Well...keep in mind GameStop is also saying the game comes out on October 1'st.  But game retailers are natorious for guessing.  My opinion is that it's a pretty safe bet that we'll see a Limited/Collector's edition of some kind.  A game like this you kinda expect it sometimes, and its a common practice for sequels anyway.  So I think GameSpot just thought it'd be a sure bet.  The fact that they're taking money for it does seem to make them very sure though.  So who knows...

Is gamestop like U.S. version fo EB games? I went to EB games site and they both look exactly the same expet diffrent colour and they both have fable 2 limited edition with the same description

EB games and gamespot are owned by the same corp, and if you by a gift card for one store, it will work with the other

Whether you think you can or can't, you're right either way.

Indeed, that was what made me raise an eyebrow at first, the fact that they are actually taking money for it means that they must be damned confident that it will be released ... Tongue Tied [:S] As for the release date, that's the same with all game retailers, they have a habit of just putting a date down, normally the earliest realistic one possible, and then keep delaying your order until it is actually released (I know amazon does that a lot with pre-order games ... Re: Fable 2 - Limited Edition?

I love getting hard cover books with limited ed's, and Fable's would be really beautiful, with concept art and story/history backgrounds, plus a little metal dog tag would be cute lol, Mass Effects bonus dash board themes and gamer pic that came free with their limited ed were a nice touch, so that too

If I'm getting a game either way and they do bring out a limited ed copy that's the one I go for - Always! And I pre-order it too. Just a bit of positive persuasion for the G o o d [Good] people at LH if the extra cash they could make is not enough.

    Yeah, some games can pull off a G o o d [Good] LE, ME=G o o d [Good], Halo 3(collectors, not legendary)=bad. Fable 2 would be G o o d [Good] with an art book, exclusive content, bonus disk and poster(I like posters) that'd be a G o o d [Good] LE.

Account turned silver on Oct 1 but I plan to buy gold again soon

Add gamertag if you will be playing GoW2, Fable 2

Re: Fable 2 - Limited Edition?

I'd definatly like to see a nicely sized cloth map of Albion, I really hate those cheap paper ones that you get with other RPG's. Even though they look nice they always rip and become creased even though you never touch them.Angry [] A nice artbook with concept works and developer footnotes would be nice too. And for the box maybe a nice fold-out leather style with some sort of a Fable 2 symbol embroidered on the cover. I'm glad to see that our petition finally caught some wind!

like halo 3 had the master chief helmet, Fable 2 should have the fortune teller thing from the trailer, or maybe it could fold out into the map.  Nah, nvm that last one

Re: Fable 2 - Limited Edition?

on the site, they don't have much information right under the features list. So I am not relying on their speculation.

If there is a limited edition I will buy it without even thinking. I would like to see the soundtrack, a game map, and a special downloadable bar game.

Lastly, I would like ALL active community members to recieve something as well. Like a virtual thank you note! (yes it's wierd, but it would make me feel happySmily [:)])

Do you know how much I would want one of those? Seeing one of those in the trailer took me back to my childhood ... (I was a bit of a sad child) ... Ninja [:ninja:]

What kind of thing would be a thank you though ... would you want extra game content? (not sure if LH would do that or not) or something else? I was thinking a visual representation of the badges, but I don't think they'd be able to work it ... lol Surprise [:O]

Got an update for you guys,

Just got off the phone with a GameStop rep and they informed me that they actually don't charge for the game until it ships.  So if you bought the Limited Edition of Fable 2 they actually wouldn't charge your credit/debit card until they ship it out from the warehouse.  If it ends up that a Limited Edition is not coming out, GameSpot would simply contact you letting you know that the order was cancelled due to the fact that no Limited Edition is coming out.

So anyway, looks to me like GameStop claiming a Limited Edition of Fable 2 is about as accurate as the release date, which is to say...it isn't.  Wink [;)]

We played with those at school too, I hadn't seen one in ages 'til the trailer - I couldn't make one now if I tried - Thats what they should include - a pre-printed bit of paper with the markings/aging and fold lines on it, along with some instructions on how to do it. Cheeky [:cheeky:]

I was working in X-tra Vision (The Irish equivalent of Blockbuster) last year and they were actually taking money for pre-orders for Fable 2 as early as September 2007.

That's not the issue, we all already know that Fable2 is coming out, LH have announced that they are making it, shops can therefore take money for it. What hasn't been announced is any limited edition, special edition or hero editions of Fable 2 that would come out after release, hence we were wondering why Game Stop looked like they were taking money for something that the rest of the world didn't even know existed Wink [;)]

(FYI LH devs - If you do do a limited edition thing I think you should go with the name hero edition It's got the right ring to it! Surprise [:O])

Love the idea of a LE with a cloth map of Albion. I miss the old cloth maps that used to come with my CEs of MMOs.

Re: Fable 2 - Limited Edition?

Ok, just to get one thing straight, a business never (or at least isn't supposed to) takes your money until after it ships from the warehouse. This way, if, for whatever reason, you want to change or cancel your order, you wont be charged and the company wont have to pay you back.

Second, I would love for there to be some small in-game content. For example, an exclusive title or something like that.

As far as non in-game content goes, I would love for a map (cloth or not, but cloth is better), an art BOOK (no "digital books" *cough*Bungie*cough*), soundtrack would be nice, and of course tons of video content (Machinima, behind-the-scenes, diaries, etc.)

BTW, Hero Edition actually isn't too bad.

No, I know. It just sounded more like you were saying that they were doing that for the LE. It still seemed like some people didn't get it, to me, so I just wanted to clear it up that it is always the case with any store, with any item.

Tongue Tied [:S] I don't know if we see the currency at any point in the game, but it might be a nice touch a rustic coin ... Tongue Tied [:S]
