How to Watch "The Movies Online" Movies in Firefox

- Firefox 2.0 or later.
- Windows Media Player.
- Notepad or a similar program.
- Load up the movie page of the movie you wish to watch on The Movies Online, in your Firefox browser.
- Scroll down the movie page and look for a box labeled Marketing. -See Figure 1.
- Inside this box there should be two titles, one should say Link to Movie and the other should say Embeddable Player, we'll be using the Embeddable Player one.
- Click in the box under Embeddable Player, the text should then all be highlighted.
- Right click on the highlighted text and click on Copy from the pop-up menu. -See Figure 2.
- Now, open up Notepad or a similar program, right click and click on Paste from the pop-up menu to paste the code into the program.
- You should now have a big block text in front of you, we won't be
using all of it though, so you can cut all the text except the text
that is between <param name="URL" value=" and " /><param name=.
- Once you have gotten rid of the text specified above, you should be left with just a long URL. -See Figure 3.
- Highlight this URL, right click on it and click on Copy from the pop-up menu.
- Then open up Firefox, right click in where URL's go and click on Paste from the pop-up menu.
- Finally, press enter to launch the URL and you'll be taken to a window with Windows Media Player in it. Enjoy the movie.

Re: How to Watch "The Movies Online" Movies in Firefox
Thank you for this, eobaggs. I had eventually figured it out, earlier; use Internet Explorer. (Ha!) It would be nice, however, for anyone still using Firefox, to have this short tutorial. Should find a way to " Sticky" this; as well as a few of the other tutorials swimming in the open forums.

Re: How to Watch "The Movies Online" Movies in Firefox
Thanks for the comments. ![Up []](/emoticons/icon14.gif) Also, not sure how many people know this, but this technique also works on some films that directors have taken off line. You can also download some off line movies by inserting the part of the URL (Shown in Figure 3 above) between file=/ and &mov_id into the spot specified below: http://movies.lionhead.com//insert url here_stream.wmv
Then launch that URL and a window should pop up prompting you to download the movie. If the file type is unknown, then that means that the movie has been taken off of the server.

guitarscout:Like what skinshack now has. ![Up []](/emoticons/icon14.gif)
Er, no Gutturscut! The Skinshack "Old Movies Player has never worked in Firefox. If this works, and having looked at it, I see no reason why not, then I say kudos Eo, damn fine job. [Edit] Just tried this on an off-line movie and it worked. I thought it would, but just wanted to re-iterarate that this does what the above does not. Cheers eobaggs ![Up []](/emoticons/icon14.gif) , guess this means I can now use the Old Movies Player database, but actually watch the movies now. Appreciate it [/Edit] Norrie (taken the time to test, not just post a negative comment - take the hint "gs")

Cheers Norrie. ![Up []](/emoticons/icon14.gif) Just thought I'd share something else I found: An even easier way to download off line movies is to simply paste in the code below into your browser and press Enter when you are on the movie page for the movie you want to download. javascript:downloadMovie()
You should be prompted to download the movie.

Now that's a one! Nice find. ![Up []](/emoticons/icon14.gif)
And isn't there a plugin or something that allows Firefox to stream wmv's? I know I used to be able to do it (though I don't use Firefox anymore...)

biggstrek:Firefox to stream wmv's? I know I used to be able to do it (though I don't use Firefox anymore...) There is, but for most people it either stops working after a while or doesn't work at all, on TMO. No problem straming wmv's on other sites though. Or at least haven't come across any problems.
The only thing worse that beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Re: How to Watch "The Movies Online" Movies in Firefox
For the record, I dusted off my old Firefox (now that I'm at home) and it happily streams TMO movies... though I had to click TWICE to make it start, whereas it's only ONCE with IE (I know it's not much of a difference, but I thought I'd share.)
I'm not familiar enough with Firefox to be able to backtrack the plugin I used (there doesn't seem to be any obvious record of it.)

Re: How to Watch "The Movies Online" Movies in Firefox
People, allow me to help out, well maybe not. I'm just shocked that you need to do all of this to watch a movie on Firefox. The only thing I needed was to install a missing plug-in, and then I could watch them(until for some reason, the WMM boxes on some websites like that site doesn't work now). But if the plug is the case, go and get it from that link that EO has.
