    Question releating to settings

If I were to lower the settings (like graphic settings and stuff) so I can play the game smoother, will it effect my exported movies in any way or will they export the same as if I had used high graphic settings?

That is a G o o d [Good] question.  I would assume that it copies and burns it through export so it may effect it.  I've seen movies where some kid would export with an outdated graphics card or low settings and it would actually show the choppy graphics and black faces in the movie.

Yes! The "low" graphic setting exports most overlays/(some)mods/lightmaps as black textures. The "medium" setting will export normally however.

    Hope this helps!

Ok, so playing in medium with export it as if I were playing in high?

    Re: Question releating to settings

Well...I'm not sure if anyone has tested it for certain, but I'd assume that although medium eliminates the problems that low graphic settings have, it would still be a much better export on high graphics.
There's nothing stopping you playing the game on medium until the point where you have to export. It takes a while anyway, so lowering the graphics for a faster export seems a tad pointless.
I believe using low graphics settings in AMM will also not allow you to use the lighting and weather effects, if I remember correctly.

    Re: Question releating to settings

Actually, I'm on a new computer with a crappy vid card so heavy rain and stuff lags. So yeah, I think I'll film on medium and export on high.

Thanks all...if there was a rep system, I'd rep you.

I tested this a while back - if you use lesser graphics or colour settings it does affect the graphics quality.

I tend to film in medium quality (less crashes and shuffles) - and then jack it up to best quality before the export and synchronisation phases.

    Re: Question releating to settings

Indeed -- "Best" quality is the only way to get every drop of graphical detail out of the export process.  Even the next quality down will reduce the texture quality of high-resolution textures or close-up shots (see my Scrolling Credits Demo for an example of this).  Going down even lower will force the game to use less detailed sets, and may even remove components from your shots.

So as others have suggested:  play the game on a lower setting, but always switch to "Best" before export.

I also get major lag (scene slows down in AMM) when using rain, fog, smoke, fire and explosions.  Does setting the graphics to a lower setting help this?
