    Modding the Balance files

I've been playing around with the balance files, and I was wondering if there was anyway to increase the capacity of villas? also, any way to reduce the food consumption of your army units? i was playing around with the numbers, but none of them worked...and the strength would be nice....

    Re: Modding the Balance files

is it just me or is it impossible to change the game files on vista it keeps telling me i can't save them i've changed the files to read and write but to no avail

To answer your question try backing up your file them changing them all to zero. if nothing happens then you have a problem.
Remeber to put the orginal file back in after

This is because Lionhead made these files to be only read-only. But there is a loop hole for this:
    1. Right-click the file and select Properties.

    2. If Read-only is checked, then uncheck it by left clicking in the box next to read-only.

    3. That's it.

    Re: Modding the Balance files

To get around the Vista blocking of edited files, I just saved them to a different location, a sub-folder of my back ups in my case, then when it was all done, I just copied and pasted them back, replacing the original files.
