Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

    In no particular order:

    Golden Sun (with Lost Age)
    Chrono Trigger
    Planescape: Torment
    Neverwinter Nights 1 (+ Expansions)
Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer (I enjoyed the OC, but it wasn't top 10 material)
Baldur's Gate - if for no reason other than Minsc and Boo
    The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Eternal Sonata
Pokemon - of various colors and precious materials.

Mass Effect isn't on there because it had some serious issues with gameplay flow in my opinion, and nowdays Bioware's patented "choice" system is getting a bit stale, they tried to mix it up but failed in the very end.

And Zelda (one of my favorite series of all time) isn't on there for the reason that I consider it Action/Adventure with RPG elements, and as such exclude it from the list. Fallout 1 and 2 were great, but for some reason I have few memories of them, and need to replay them to be sure before I list it (I recently replayed Baldur's Gate and Planescape and such). Icewind Dale was going to be on there, but then I remembered how bland I felt the narrative was.

    Blizzcut:
    1. Baldurs Gate
    2. Assassins Creed
    3. Diablo 1=2
    4. Neverwinter Nights
    5. Fable 1
    6. Icewind Dale
    7. Oblivion
    8. The Witcher
    9. Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of time
    10. Mass Effect

By the Way Saints Row, GTA Franchise, Godfather, are not Role playing games at all.

Baldus gate is terrible, along with Icewind Dale.

A horrible horrible lie! Confused [*-)]

    For me;

1 - Baldur's Gate - nothing really comes close to this for me. A decade on and I'm still playing it

2 - Suikoden - one of the few JRPGs I'd say was really amazing. Shame most people haven't heard of it...

    3 - KOTOR

    4 - Fallout

    5 - Tales of Eternia

    6 - Pokemon

7 - Mass Effect - has it's flaws but still awesome

8 - Breath of fire 2 - old but pretty fun

They're not really in any order after Baldur's Gate and Suikoden. hmm, can't think of a final two...

    Blizzcut:
    2. Assassins Creed

Assassin's Creed is hardly a RPG, the Godfather game which you dismissed has more traditional RPG elements than AC.  AC is very metroid in style, start with all weapons and abilities, lose them, get them back as the game progresses...

What the hell are you going to consider Diablo...a friggin Tactical Shooter? lulz

when it came out many RPG traditionalists did not consider it an RPG as it was too action heavy... but that's a very old and dead argument.

There's a definite bias towards western RPGs so far, so I guess I'll step in with my list to skew it back the other way. No particular order here...

    Final Fantasy 7

    Skies of Arcadia

    Lost Odyssey

    Suikoden

    Fate Gates of Dawn

    Hard Nova

    Fallout I + II

DSA - Die Schicksalsklinge (? not sure about that title)

Diablo (also not really an RPG, but one of the best RPG'ish two player games on the PS)

Exactly I would call them Strategy games, turnbased strategy games, like for example Jagged Alliance.

Heh heh... I are smart... Embarrassed [:$]  That makes a lot more sense, of course back then I lumped everything into platform, rpg or adventure.  I miss the old sierra games too, but they don't really fall under the category of rpgs either.

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

These are only my personal opinion. Personally, I love all of these (and others) just about equally, but if someone held a gun to my head this would be the list I would have to end up making.

    1. Skies of Arcadia (both on Dreamcast and as Skies of Arcadia Legends, the Gamecube re-release.)
    2. TES III: Morrowind
    3. SW: KOTOR
    4. TES IV: Oblivion
    5. TLOZ: Ocarina of Time
    6. Suikoden (I and II)
    7. Neverwinter Nights
    8. Fable
    9. Deus Ex
    10. Jade Empire

Special mention for me also has to go to Paper Mario and Star Ocean. I also can't forget Lunar, and even Legend of Legaia.

I'm not getting into debates with anyone re: what constitutes an RPG and what doesn't. I define the genre as I choose.

My apologies for any typos as I currently cannot see the screen well. This will be temporary.

    10.Guild wars ( i was in a great guild)
    9. suikoden V
    8. final fantasy x (for some reason this is my favorite in the series)
    7. chrono trigger
    6. golden sun series
    5. lunar silver star story
    4. fire emblem blazing swords
    3. fable series
    2. shadow hearts covenant (suprised more people haven't gotten this one in their list)
    1. Morrowind

Oblivion is a great game but isn't on this list since I find it just can't live up to its predecessor morrowind

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

There's a difference between a game being an RPG, and having RPG elements thrown in.

    Here's my pick:

    1. Baldur's gate 2

    2. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (Whoever doesn't have this somewhere on their list is wrong, it's as simple as that!)

    3. Betrayal at Krondor

    4. Deus Ex

    5. KotOR

    6. Morrowind

    7. Stonekeep

    8. Planescape: Torment

    9. Fallout (I can't decide which)

    10. Ultimate Ascension (If it wasn't bugged up the ***)

For some reason Birdo clearly has the voice of a Japanese man in this trailer. It's like... eating a cake. You expect the cake to be delicious, but when you bite into it, it sounds like a Japanese man. See what I'm trying to say here?
