"The Grey People" Teaser Trailer Online!

The Movies Machinima"Wow...this movie looks epic. I've only read about it and seen the screen shots, but I don't throw the word epic around like it's nothing. Especially for The Movies movies. It looks like it may end up being, in many people's opinion, the greatest movie on TMO. It's not only 1 hour and 30 minutes or more, but look at all the extremely hard work that's been put into the CG. I can't wait until it's released. It'll probably make me forget that it's being made with The Movies (along with other things, of course.) G o o d <img src=" border="0"> luck with it." -OnlyRevolutions

"Oh wow!! This is gonna be a brilliant film and then to make it better I'm gonna be able to watch it on DVD over and over again. This is a brilliant idea Moonlight!!" -burkey1993

"Wow, Moonlight this really is taking the movies to the next level. I can't wait! G o o d [Good] Luck" -sbhedges

"Nice screenies, looking forward to this. Loved the other posted screeneis as well..some well executed set design, which i am a huge fan of" -Jase180

"Wow, everything about this movie looks top class... great, great screenies! Can't wait for more updates (and the film!)!" -sisch

This marks the first teaser for the brand new re-film after the harddrive fried and all previous footage was lost. This trailer not only gives us a taste of the hard work being spent in this production, but also for the first time subtly introduces our main character (voiced excellently by Nathan Allen Pinard) and how he was effected by the presence of "The Grey People". While the trailer is not explosive or does not reveal alot of footage of the film, it will certainly leave some questions and hopefully intrigued you to see more.

With this launch of a new trailer also comes the launch of a brand new official webpage for the film. It hosts production photos, downloads and its the only place that you can see the teaser trailer in the magnificant Cinerama 2.59:1 HD ratio. What does this mean? Well, it simply means you get to see the full picture!

Here is a clip of the teaser trailer upload to TMU, Vimeo, Youtube, and WeGame:

And here is the exclusive Cinerama 2.59:1 HD ratio:

I didn't know about that. Well, with Orci and Kurtzman he could definitely do it. But, I'm very eager now to see how the casting goes when it comes this December.

    Ion Thrusters!

    PRODUCTION UPDATE!!!

Firstly, THANK YOU GUYS SOO MUCH for all of the comments left on the teaser trailer over at TMU. They are greatly appreciated and I promise you I'm trying to bring forth quality entertainment. I'm striving for a G o o d [Good] visual look to the the film to really sell the world and the period the "first act" of the story takes place. So as you have noticed through the five pages thus far in this production thread alot of things change. Sometimes its due to a new mod or I figure out that a different approach may be better.

This leads me to my next update. If you watch the trailer, in it, it depicts a ship of some kind seemingly docking on the earth. While in the story, this ship has great significance in this film, and technically a huge significance in the entire trilogy, the ship's model and look itself was becoming problematic.

Originally, the ships domes were going to be a housing cell for gases from a near by planets moon, however, as pointed out by Uber a couple days ago, he suggested that a glass dome might not be a safe way to keep gases. I agreed.

So he suggested to me a different model of a ship that is supplied in his mega mod pack and I took a look at it. I liked it and I decided to replace it with the current ship displayed in the trailer.

Then came up another annoying peeve about the previous sequences with the ship...while they were grand and epic, the ship missed one thing. The ion thruster flares. This is primarily due to originally, all of the sequences shown in the trailer were created in-game and composited together in post-production. Well, with myself slowly emerging into the moding world, I've found the 3Ds Max model for the ship Uber suggested and am now replace all of the scenes with all CGI - which will increase the scale of the shots - which means I can now create Ion Thrusters (something which I've only just learned - something I've should have learned long ago for how easy it is).

So to make a long story short, I've remodeled the ship shown in the teaser trailer to be more realistic, retextured the models texture to make its main bridge window reflect the bridge window design of the bridge I used, and created the Ion thruster flare.

And of course, what would be a Production Update be without an image to show everyone. To view in full HD glory, just click on the image.

    SOME MORE UPDATES

Man, I'm glad people are liking the stuff I'm putting out, especially from the comments over at the TMU forums and the responses from the TMUnderground.com version of the teaser trailer. Don't forget, you can watch the teaser trailer in High Definition and in the original 2.66:1 aspect ratio over at the Moonlight Pictures official webpage.

WOW. Man, I have just came up for some air after being immersed into 3Ds Max 9, animating some re-shoots that take place in the beginning of the film. Like said before, I'm replacing a space-craft (thats featured in the teaser trailer) and since I'm replacing the ship, I thought I needed to replace the bridge as well. Before, I was using the "starship enterprise" like bridge but now I'm using a different standard bridge I'm sure everyone will recognize. This is primarily because if you look at the exterior of the ship, the bridge is located on a cylinder like structure, therefore, I wanted the bridge to match that as best as it could.

Anyways, nobody care about all that anyway. I'm sure you all just want to see some pictures. Here we go! Some screenshots with some descriptions.

The new bridge where the crew is protected by gas masks due to a non-flammable toxin leak.

A P.S.A.S.S (Pathopens Space & Air Security Station) commander approving docking codes for the ship "Terraform 7"

After a successful barrel role, the "Terraform 7" begins its decent into Earths atmosphere.

Upside down to protect the gas chambers underneath the ship as they pass through the atmosphere, the crew have enabled reverse gravity to keep them floored.

A mystery man standing, looking out his enormous window overlooking PC: Omega (Pathopens Colony: Omega) as the "Terraform 7" makes its approach.

"Terraform 7" begins its approach to PC: Omega as janitors sweep at the ocean docks.

The security teams enters the ship to scan for hostiles.

Well, I hope everyone has been doing well and if your reading this, leave me your thoughts!

Wow! I believe I have seen these before- maybe in one of those Supernova threads or something- maybe some deja vu. Anyways, it seems that you've establish an unique style to your directing and look thereof for the film that I clearly seen from Supernova- meaning you've already established and separated yourself as a talented, and original director in my book. Let us know more details with the direction as they come.

I would go with a camcorder. To start, I recommend a Lieca Dicomar 3CCD Panasonic Camcorder...they are cheap, like $500 bucks  now because of the rise of HD camcorders.

None of the cgi so far has been something from the old "Journey of Man: Supernova" production...all of those are in a separate folder awaiting use.

Boy, I sure did sleep in today. I woke up at noon and I think its because of the long days I've been putting into the production. But I'm at it today beginning a new section of the film. So tonight, I'll show you my progress!

    Modders & Creators

It seems I've created the misconception that I created all of these models and such. I just didn't realize I was expected to name the modders and creators of models everytime I post a screenshot.

So I guess I should clear somethings up here.

Not one CGI model that shown in the screenshots so far was modeled by myself. Everything has been modeled by someone else from either TurboSquid, scifi-meshes.com, and other various sources. I have, however, customize some of the textures to meet my vision.

The mods I have used so far in the production of the film (I was going to wait until the credits of the film) are as follows and continually growing:

    moonlightpictures - Grey Skin Texture
Phrozin - Phrozin Eyes (two retextured by moonlightpictures)
Alshten - Old Factory/Destroyed Basketball Court
    bloox87 - moving ground
    coolcalx - fire prop
    Disthron - monster props
Duel - white house press room
    evolchild - consoles/Glass Office of 2020
    Fraasmovies - oval office/Laserwall
    Frenhofer - floor props
    Rogue - zombie dog
    Skelch - new passenger shuttles
    Walvince - robot props
    andrzchi - cracked desert
    crAZRick - craz office/crAZ Corridor/crAZ Reception
    eobaggs - future corridor
    java192 - city amended
    MelGhoul - desert
    Patella - white sets
    TempleoftheGods - Future City
    Lizard - Floor Tiles
    marvellousguppimovies - sci-fi apartment pieces/command center/cave/lowered bluescreen set/hypersleep chamber/death star throne room/sci-fi apartment/bio hazard suite
    rysto - sci-fi corridor pack/Animated Actor Props/sci-fi bridge pack
    Fraas - Sewer system
    Rik_Vargard - Space base
Ubernewbie - Uber Mod Pack/Custom Cryo-tubes/Cinema Theater/Custom Bluescreen/Greenscreen set/provided face and body .dds files for retexturing
werecool - made a custom made nuclear missile
HouseMods/Tarison - all of the custom animations
    ---------------------
ALL OF THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO MODELED THE .3DS IMPORT FILES MODELS YOU SEE IN THE SCREENSHOTS

Atlantis City set from Stargate modeled by: SGA-3D
Colonial Fleet low-poly (which covers the space-station, the cargo ship and any other ships seen in the screenshots; retextured by: moonlightpictures) from Battlestar Galactica modeled by: Coxxon

    Earth/Space/Stars/Lens Flares/Ion Exhaust/and ship/city retextures modeled by: moonlightpictures

Hope that clears up the air.

    Surgery

Well, I've had pretty successful surgery, for as some of you know who have been following the production thread on "The Grey People", I developed what is called Dropped Foot due to a severe herniation in my lower back, and I am now in the recovery period. They went into my lower back and dug out the herniation in my back to make the nerve which was being severed cleared. Everything seems fine now, but there was alot of nerve damage so we'll see what happens. But Because I'm not allowed to be sitting for more then 15 minutes at a time, I will not be able to work on The Grey People until I fully recover.

I hope people understand. This most likely will not affect the release of The Grey People which is shooting for a spring 2009.

Thank you for your understanding. Take Care

    Re: Surgery

Mazel tov, you're getting better it seems. I'm in no way joking about this, for I know a lot about injuries from personal experience- and even a debilitating 2 milliliter kidney stone that was more painful than labor (the doctor's diagnosis- true story). As I sympthatize with your pain, I also am glad that nothing is keeping you from fulfilling your dream- and that is The Grey People- a goal that may seem a little unreachable to you with all of these sudden setbacks- the 'leak'; files lost; meticulous editing into the nights etc. I know you won't give up, but even with the painful view of the short run, don't let it deter you from getting this done. I gave up on a promising project like this once, don't you even think to do the same. G o o d [Good] blessings to you....

The Grey People Official Site Back

    UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

So, I've finally have uploaded and launched the official place-holder site for The Grey People which features the latest trailer and gives people the ability to register for updates right into your email or your mobile phone.

And thanks everyone for your kind words as I heal through this surgery. I'm feeling much much better and while my foot is still numb, I have the ability to move it now...so I'll be able to get back onto my feet.

Anyways, as I feel better, I'll be getting back into the production of The Grey People. In the meantime, go to thegreypeople.moonlightpictures.org and register for updates...not only will you get all the info first, but will get an access pass to a hidden site (coming soon) and....did I mention that the first 5 people will get to screen the film before its released!

Re: The Grey People Official Site Back

Killian from the TMU forums said this: Just a quick one to non-US folk; the "@" sign key won't work on the registration form if you have a standard European keyboard; it's Shift-2 to get it, in case you weren't aware, as the site doesn't recognise non-US keyboard layouts which is a bit of a pain when trying to register

I am going to see what I can do to fix this.

Re: The Grey People Official Site Back

To achieve the High Definition glory in The Movies, you can use Tarison mod which allows you to edit the files governing resolution, but even then, whats missing is color depth.

To achieve a very sharp contrast ratio and color depth, you need to use a wonderful program called Fraps, which can export footage in HD. Then when its exported, bring it into a editing program called Sony Vegas, do your cropping and click on snapshot.

Make sure the preview quality is at best: full and there, you have a High Definition screenshot.

But using fraps is completely useless unless your going for the High Definition.
