    Ted:

This is an isolated issue, but we are currently looking into it as a matter of priority.

    Ted,

Though appreciate the tact you ahve to use when speaking about a glitch in the game, if you read the numerous posts, this is not an isolated incident.  It does not just occur on the Abbot or in any one particular area.

G o o d [Good] morning folks, how are we doing on this issue? Could this really take more than a couple days to fix? You would think a small army would be hammering it out around the clock until it's fixed.

Well, glad to hear that it's come to their attention.  I was seriously worried that I'd have to start again and when I google searched and saw this thread, I was relieved.  'Till they fix it, guess I'll be chopping wood or doing Hobbe runs Indifferent [:|]

I haven't received a patch...maybe it was your pub games?

No I think my Xbox was being stupid. I was just playing GTA IV, and it updated, so I guess my Xbox decided Fable needed an update that didn't come out.

/sigh... One of the Devs should create a stickie to all known problems at the momment I could name off at least 50 without thinking...

The Wife, Husband one needs to be fixed with a passion... If the Devs don't know what this is I fear for Fable 2's upcoming patchs.

No the patch was to fix something wrong with online co-op and so you couldn't cheat the game with the Xbox clock to make millions of money when you own estate...

Speaking of that.. My games recieve money when not playing is broken.. I don't recieve any money even if I have been offline for more then 5 hours... And I own most of bowerstone and they are rented/stores.

Any new word on this, it's rather obnoxious. Pre-Ordered this like 2 months before it came out and then this happens, worst part of it......you're stuck in two places with VERY little to do in order to kill time till it is fixed.

Well Larzs, I'm going to do you a favor. I only rented Fable 2 and was on the fence on whether or not to buy it. Since it's as buggy as it is, I'm just going to return my rental and move on to another game. That way we cancel each other out.

2 more weeks until Gears of War 2Ogre [:gre:]

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

    Well now I'm really annoyed.

I did the fable2.com flash games and got the chicken suit etc.  After experiencing this bug, I restarted the game because I didn't want to wait for an unannounced fix.

Now I can't redeem the items with my new character, and if I replay the flash games it says I am not eligible to receive the rewards again.

This really sucks.  I lost items through no fault of my own.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

I am experiencing "freezes" when I enter the Hobbe Cave in Rookridge.

The game disc stops spinning, the music goes, then the sfx, then the game itself stops. The lighting continues to flicker as if the game is still running, but the characters and screen are still and the game doesn't respond to input. Accessing the in game menu also causes the freeze to onset faster and severely lags.

I can still access the guide menu, by pressing the central orb button on the 360 controller. The console and game are still running, but just "stalled in time" it seems.

Game disc is fine - no scratches, dust free and brand new. No other slowdowns or "freezes" before this, so I have no idea what is causing them.

I just hope that they issue a patch soon, because I can't travel out of Rookridge to Bowerstone ("The bridge is out") and I can't get through this cave :/ so the game is useless to me at the moment.

I'm not sure if I have reached the Abbot yet, but I hope this patch will address these issues D:

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

/sigh.  I am torn between starting a new character, or farming Hobbes and wait for the patch.  I wouldn't mind so much if we had an ETA or some sort of update.  As far as any of the public know, lionhead are standing around with their hands on their bollocks.  I understand that bugs are something that we as gamers need to live with, but I can't help but think if maybe they spent a bit more time and coding etc rather than making that bird s*** during the intro look 'perfect' then we may have been left with a complete game.  As it is, it feels rushed.

    An ETA would be great.

    Cheers,

                Rob.

Just a FYI, I don't have access to Live along with many people I know of. If whatever patches/fix you have in mind require a Live account, I will promptly return Fable 2.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

    Ted:

We are aware that a minority of people playing Fable(r) II over the last few days have encountered an issue where the Abbot becomes unresponsive at the beginning of Monks Quest in Oakfield. This is an isolated issue, but we are currently looking into it as a matter of priority.

    Hi Lionhead,

This is not a minority of people who have encountered this issue. This is the result of *** coding, seriously why the hell would you use triggers to start questlines, also not an isolated issue. This bug has to be one of the worst I've seen in a game, and idiotic to boot because it could have been entirely preventable and as if a QA tester didn't try this in bug testing. Seriously disappointed and if not rectified soon will be contacting the ACCC about Lionhead knowingly selling a faulty product. Oh and I can't even return to a f****ng previous save because you implemented your shitty single save system. G o o d [Good] job there.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

I agree with Zevanzor....If we had the option of different save files like the KOTOR series, then Im sure most of us could have avoided this issue, with only slight back tracking and sacrafice of monies/houses.  I, myself, only walked slightly up the path after the stream/lake with stepping stones before I decided to go back to town. I had only heard the abbott saying something about 'finding an escort' but since I didn't enter the Quest Circle, I didn't think anything of it.  Then I decided to go get some more money by woodcutting, but once I got 4 stars and got out of that minigame...it autosaved, trapping me in this glitch.

Now, I LOVE games like this with VAST lands and lots of knooks and crannies to search, and am willing to invest TONS of hours into the game, but, due to hurried development, I'm not sure if I want to risk playing this even PAST this glitch.  I will just sit and wait to see if anything is going to help us already in this situation for a week or so, otherwise...it goes BACK to Game Stop for some SWEET credit for Gears of War 2.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

Alright, here's another little problem I encountered with the same quest, albeit not the same problem as the rest in here, but still relevant to the same problem.

I got the proper amount of renown, but then lost some before speaking to the abbot again. Now, although I have earned back more than enough renown, there is a monk blocking the door to the temple, and I therefore cannot get inside to continue with the quest. It would be nice to be able to get around this, since I have over 15 hours of play time, and really would not like to have to start again.
