Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Thanks for the update Jim! Looks I'll have to just keep chopping wood and modeling for my fine statues.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
It would be nice if someone from the Dev team would respond to us. Do they even read these forums?
We just want an ETA on said patch? At least a ball park days, weeks or months?
We also want to know if this will fix the game for people who have already been abbot'ed. I have already spent 10 hours on this game and don't want all of that time to go down the drain.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
The Monk Glitch patch is not released tommorow (28th). Tommorow, people who bought the Limited Edition and didn't recieve a DLC code will get their content. And if you read the Kotaku article, the Community Manager says he needs people to explain exactly how and when a glitch happened, so they can recreate the situation themselves, and solve the problem.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
"
Basically i am well aware of abbot glitch before/at the beginning of the ritual quest, but mine is further on then that.
I have gone all the way through the dungeon with hannah, and im in the final room, where she says the chant and the gates opens to let robin in.
This is where it glitches, robin comes in and just pants, doesn't say anything, just pants, but, the thing is i can move around on the plate, i can pause, its not alot but it something.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this, or if the patch that lionhead are releasing on the 28th (apparantly) will fix this issue.
Any info would be great, cheers dudes.
Really i need to know if this a problem with the disc, as i ordered it online and i only have so long before i can't do anything about it ![Sad <img src=]() " src="/emoticons/emotion-6.gif">"
So, no update tomorrow ![Sad [:(]](/emoticons/emotion-6.gif) .
guess i will just have to run through the game again without the patch and see if it helps, if i get the same result, i will be contacting the company i ordered from in the hope of getting a replacement copy.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
I don't understand why Lionhead comments that they haven't had sufficient information to try and recreate the glitch. People have explained it OVER AND OVER on here and they could've simply posted a topic here asking gamers to specifically describe ALL the bugs/glitches they found in detail.
Sure there would be a lot of "hate Fable 2 comments"...but they'll have to live with it. I for one would answer it properly as best as I could because I want to continue the game and if this helps the developers fix these issues, then that helps me.
I hate to say this but I saw a comment someone posted on that Kotaku article...Some said it was "pathetic that Lionhead is having their customers do their free Quality Control for them". That's a damn point, are we all your game testers now?Responsible for finding their obvious errors? Then DO NOT think this is an isolated, minor issue...this is a BIG issue, it is REALLY happening and I JOINED THIS FORUM TO BE VOCAL ABOUT IT because I want to play the game!
You need "help" describing these glitches Lionhead? Then why not ask here?!?!

Do you have a link for that thread? I hope it's not the 200+ response thread. No way am I going to drop my penny into that fountain.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
OMG I'm trapped in the Nightmare hallow dream thing except this is probably the worst place to get gliched into because you cant escape!! The options "quest/maps" or "items" is not available so you cant tele-port out of it so i am officially stuck and i basically own all of albion i am making 8,000 dollars every 10 minutes so the only way to play is make a new game. I really dont want to have to do this but if it means playing i guess... but this is a problem I think this should be resolved.

The programmers at Lionhead must be mentally deficient if they still need more information on how to recreate this bug.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Now now, thats not fair. Programmers are by and large some of the most intelligent people working on any game. Most games you play would not even be remotely functional if it were not for programmers such as these. In fact, the amount and complexity of systems required to make a game like fable II possible is staggering, and the effort they must have put into making this game as it stands is nothing short of Herculean.
Its not their fault. We all want to play our games, and we will in time. Does it suck that we can't play now? Yes. Will it be worth the wait for a patch? Probably.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Screw the patch, when i get off work tomorrow at 530pm, I will return my copy of Fable 2 and reserve Gears of War 2. No more Lionhead product for me. People been asking me about the game, and I told them about the Abbott glitch and they are putting off Fable2 for Gears of War2.

I agree. I'm turning mine in for Fallout 3.
No more Loinhead games for me. There are sooo
many games that come out that are not Glitch ridden.
Loinhead needs to fix major problems BEFORE thier games hit the street. ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) bye Jerks!

Dionysuss:The programmers at Lionhead must be mentally deficient if they still need more information on how to recreate this bug.
The community at Lionhead forums must be mentally deficient if they think they are capable of understanding the sheer, mind-numbing complexity involved in testing every aspect of any given bug, making sure that individual bug is not reproducible in any way, and ensure the solution also solves the problem for people currently experiencing the bug. The patch is coming soon. Keep your pants on. I do, by the way, find a great amount of humor in calling the people that programmed this game "mentally deficient." Programmer? This is anonymous forum troll. You're dumb. kthx.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Screw waiting for the patch I bit the bullet and started over. I
liquidated everything that I had and had a buddy transfer my money to a
new char. It sucks that I lost 10 hours of play but I am not going to
wait around for this patch that may or may not work. The lack of
communication from lionhead is really pathetic. I just hope that I
don't run into anymore messed up problems in this game but it seems
almost inevitable at this point. I have a hard time believing this is a
console game.. They made it like a rushed PC game.. that they knew they
could just patch later. I feel bad for people who don't have xbox live.
Next time lionhead take the time to do more testing. Your QA team
should be canned because they clearly failed. Just running around doing
random stuff I see glitches all over the place (most of them appear to
be have been reported in the bug section). I know you are getting frustrated and are asking us to give more details on how to reproduce
errors but frankly this isn't our freaking job. We paid for a product
and we expect a certain level of quality I could see if we were a BETA
testing team or something but we are not this is PRODUCTION. So stop
your complaining you have no right, if anything you should be bending
over backwards to make amends but you are not.
Fable 2 really is coming short of its full potential because of these
horrible bugs/glitches. I am not saying that this is a bad game it is
![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) but it could have been awesome/great if it didn't have all of
these problems. If there is going to be a Fable 3 I doubt that I am
going to buy it unless you guys have a drastic turn around when it
comes to quality. I would suggest starting by canning your QA, testing
teams and that dumb manager/director who didn't want to miss a deadline.
Remember that gamers don't mind waiting for a game if you are taking time to get it right.

Hear! Hear! You don't release a film without sound FX and visual FX. The game should have been fixed before it went out. I see Loinhead going under for loss of sales. BYE!

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
Are you kidding? Do you know how much more outrage there would have been if Lionhead had delayed this game even a WEEK? What the bad publicity would have been, and how much they would have lost in sales?
When it comes down to it, this specific bug is a small one. And given the size of this game, I have absolutely no doubt that they went through an extensive testing phase and found and fixed more bugs than any of us could guess. And you know what? Some ARE going to fall through. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe .1% of people that buy this game will experience a "game breaking" glitch. And the righteous wrath that is so often directed at game companies by people that think they 1)know what they are talking about and 2) will make any kind of a difference at all, ever has absolutely no impact on anything, and never will.
Imagine programming a game as large as Fable 2. Try to. Try to imagine the CODING behind this freaking beast. And then imagine .01% of people that purchase your game tell you about a bug with the Abbot quest in Oakfield by saying this: "The abbot quest is bugged, I can't progress. Fix it."
How long, honestly, do you think it would first take you to figure out what the hell they're talking about, reproduce the bug in every way possible, test a fix for each of those ways, and then implement it. With to help from the community. Weeks? Months?
It's foolish to assume you can give Lionhead as little information as possible and expect a bug fix to be put out in anything even remotely resembling a timely manner. Input from the community helps them fix the bug FASTER, so they know what to test FOR. It gives them a foundation to start building on, rather than having to start building it themselves which would only take longer.
Because of the input FROM the community, if you read the Kotaku article at the top of page 4 of this thread, you'll see that they already have the Abbot bug fixed, and a patch is forthcoming with no eta.

I agree with you for the most part, but I have posted on multiple forums exactly how the bug was created for me and even started to characters to see if I could recreate the bug myself and have succeeded. Lionhead had little choice but to release when they did I agree, but it's obvious this game was pushed out before adequate testing was done and that stinks but not much we can do I am just gonna wait for the patch. All you people that are flaming lionhead and such should just shut their mouths and sit tight, insulting lionhead wont get the patch here any faster and it won't make them all that much happier to help us either.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot
There will always be children on forums that feel their opinion is relevant, important, and/or world-changing. Usually I ignore them, but there have been some real unintelligent arguments in this thread.
Again, I'd have to disagree that it was pushed out too soon. With as complicated as games are getting, it is not hard to argue that you can NEVER do enough testing on a game. There will ALWAYS be bugs in games, and there number and complexity of bugs will keep ramping up in direct proportion to how complicated the game was to make.
It's like this. Have you ever typed a term paper, or slung some code, and then tried to edit it or proof-read it yourself? If so, how well has that worked? I have a seriously hard time proofing my own code (I work in Controls and Automation), simply because I always, always, have to make sure I'm Bug Hunting what I actually wrote, not what I THINK I wrote.
