OK it's now NOV 8th. and you "claimed" to be working on a patch since OCT 24th. CAN WE PLEASE GET AN UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF THE PATCH!!!!!!!

You should know better than to create a game with only 1 save file.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

In the time between me running into this patch I have completed: Gears of War 2, Dead Space and Farcy 2.  This is nothing short of a joke.  I honestly forgot I even had this game till 10 minutes ago when I saw the disk under my coffee.  There has been little in the way of updates, and as a consumer who has brought your product, I derserve better, as does the rest of the community.

rcbattle hit it right on the spot....we should have heard something by now...it absolutely pisses me off having a new game i really wanna play but not being able to play it because lionhead doesnt know how to beta test thier games before they release them. they would rather have the money in thier pocket instead of putting the game back for a while to properly test it. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE LIONHEAD AND I WONT BE PUCHASING ANYMORE OF YOUR GAMES.

God so it looks like there is going to be some "big announcement" next week about Fable 2 (according to that blog post).

I really hope they don't intend to start raving about some new content they are making when so many who bought the game can't even finish it...

That would be some screwed up priorities.

Re: Monks Quest Issue and Rescuing Charlie Quest - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot Same thing with Charlie

December 1st. If there is no patch, I'm going to return the game. This was the most anticipated game for me. I LOVED fable, and think the mechanisms of Fable II are really awesome...but, I cannot progress in the story. I suppose I could start over, but I really hated raising my blacksmithing etc. Perhaps if they made it so I could merge my heroes (a new one with this old one) and then play through again to that point since it is early on. Anything really...multiple save points? Anyways enough of my crying, I suppose I could make a new char, but with 2million in the bank and a lot of goblins killed (I've explored everwhere you can up to this point, and killed everything you can up to this point) I don't want to run around looking for silver keys and goblins again, not like I wrote down the locations. So here is hoping, a fix. Soon.

Re: Monks Quest Issue and Rescuing Charlie Quest - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot Same thing with Charlie

You may want to return it now.

There is a thread that was locked about the "big announcement"...when Sam locked it he said the patch is coming "mid-december"

It sounds like they are trying to fix a whole bunch of things and put it into one big patch. Though there are a TON of game-ending bugs, the fact that so many of them get your stuck in one place or completely corrupt your game warrant patching them as soon as they have a fix, instead of just sitting on the fixes to make one big patch. I would have much rather had like 5 little patches over a month and a half instead of sitting here waiting with 2 corrupt games now until a patch mid-december.

Just seems like sort of a "noob"ish decision to make for a game developer...make so many people sit on bugs that END their game for 2 months.

If what you say is true bud, I'm rather pleased.  I've made some pretty aggressive posts on this thread, purely because of the lack of community updates.  I'll just play other games between now and then and hope for the best.  That being said, I do agree with you saying that five patches over a month would have been the best option.  This game has still got rave reviews for those that have finished it, and I'm still hopeful it will turn out the game it SHOULD have been.

Re: Monks Quest Issue and Rescuing Charlie Quest - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot Same thing with Charlie

The update said it was coming mid-December at the latest. It could come any time between now and then.

I don't understand why people are complaining about "screwed up priorities". You don't honestly expect them to put every developer they have on fixing glitches, do you? Regardless of the fact that not every developer is trained for it (I love how people on here refer to the developers of the game as a collective entity that seems to be able to do everything and solve every problem), the studio still has other projects that need to be worked on, and deadlines for those projects, whether they're for this game or anything else.

There are so many other games out right now and things to do. I myself am a victim of the abbot glitch. Find something. If you guys can't honestly wait for a patch, then please do return the game. It'll make for that many less whiners on Xbox Live.

    Stupid 256 character limit.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

I thankfully have never encountered the issue with the abbot. However, I've had several other issues in this game that make it difficult to play. I'm new to these boards so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

    1) This doesn't effect my ability play and I can ignore it but I'll just let you know it's there. My character changes his apperance sometimes while doing jobs. Certain clothing such as the 'felt lined cariage gloves' will not show at all during the blacksmithing screen and will disappear off my hands completely when I'm finished so I have to put them back on.

    2) Along with his clothing, at times his hair, beard and dog experience the same issues. His dog changes from tan to black constantly as does his hair, even after it's been dyed. Nothing I can't handle, but annoying nonetheless.

    3) Marriage. Especially Alex from the "Til death do us part job". My first character married her. He went away and did one job - about 20 hours - and she divorced him. Thinking it was just random or his fault, he married her again the second time. Everything was going well. He set the budget at 500g. He was with her - saved the game and when he came back on - she divorced him right away, walked out of Bowerstone and promptly died. He married an Aristocrat as well at one time (Never do it again) and all she wanted was for him to look better and to live in the Castle. Fine. He took her and his son and moved in. Suddenly she dissappeared. It said she was in the throne room but she was gone. Never to be seen again. This happened everytime.

    4) Kids. As a fan of the Sims I was excited at the prospect of having a family. He had his son Rob which was followed shortly by sister, Sarah. I saved and when I returned, Sarah was gone. According to my Logbook he had 2 kids but on my family screen it only showed Rob. He moved to Bowerstone. He had another daughter, Annette. Saved, reloaded - Annette was gone and his wife divorced him and left the area the moment he came into the game, taking his son. The meter that shows that they are happy NEVER goes down to where it shows the ring crossed out. Never, on any character.

    5) Homes. My character set a marital home and went into redecorate mode (This happens with non-marital homes as well). He replaced all the furniture with Luxury items and went on a mission. When he came back some of the furniture had switched back to the old junk and no matter how many times I tried I couldn't put the better stuff in. Meanwhile, his wife was complaining that they needed better furniture.

    6) Shops. Basically the Furniture Store in Bowerstone. I shopped there for a few weeks and all the while I noticed that her G o o d [Good]s list became shorter and shorter. Eventually the only thing that she would ever sell is the book 'Pretty on the inside' and NEVER anything else. He now has to travel to Bloodstone for furniture.

    7) Dog. My dog is a fruit to put it simply. Sometimes he barks at a dig spot, then runs around in circles, never actually locating said dig spot even if my character moves around. In the Chamber of Fate he has gotten stuck more than once near one of the skeletons. When I look back he is frozen in mid-air glitching back and forth.

I bought three copies of this game right away because of all the hype. One for my father, mother and myself. I loved Fable and just knew that this would be a great game, but it's turning into a nightmare. I've never seen quite this many glitches in one game.

When my character is married, unless he solicits to another NPC, people should NOT walk into my house and ask me for a wedding ring in front of his wife or her husband! There have been times so many people came into my house (which is a bit rude enough) that my character had to fast travel out so that he/she could move. As soon as he/she gets married the 'love' should disappear from the other villagers unless my character instigates it. I've actually had someone highlighted on a few of my characters and went to give him/her the ring and it gives it to some older person beside him/her. I'm sure they were thrilled, but I wasn't.

I've finished this game several times but all the glitches make it almost impossible to deal with. I've heard that people have not only had this problem with the abbot that you've been discussing but with getting to certain places as well, like Westcliff. These problems impact the whole game and as seen won't allow players to complete their games.

My character was pure and G o o d [Good] until the glitch with Alex and then 100 E v i l [Evil] points came his way. That and they should not freak out when I bring out a gun to defend them. Here I am helping them and they hate me and make comments about not using my weapon in public. Corruption. Sigh. Let's just forget that I save your life....but. hey, that's okay. Had a character that did it a few times in town because of the job the town guards sent me on and it says I can no longer travel on the carriages because of it. Grrr. No win situation.

I guess I'm just very disappointed. I spent about $200 between the games and Guide and right now I'm wishing I hadn't of bothered. I've purchased hundreds of games in the past and some had glitches but not like this one. What I touched on doesn't remotely cover all the problems people have had. Sad [:(]

Adding on to this a few hours later my male character married a gypsy woman. I figured of all the people in the game this would be the safest route for him considering she was dirt poor to begin with and should be fairly easy to satisfy.

Everything started out great. They had their son, Rick. Then came daughter, Claire. When he came back from questing Claire had grown up and so now he had two 9 year olds - technically. His wife then got pregnant again with third child and second daughter, Kate. However, after questing, this time when he arrived home KATE was 9 and Claire was M.I.A. According to the family screen he only has two children although in the logbook stats it still shows him with the correct amounts he's had.

His wife just had a third girl (fourth child overall), Rhona.

I'll see what happens with this one tomorrow but I have the sneaking suspicion that Kate is about to be lost in the system....

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

This might be related, while I didn't have the issue of the Abbot being unresponsive, after completing his quest, I never got the chance to do the Saving the Temple of Light quest, whenever I returned (and I did several times to get the Harvest Benefactors reward) the monk that was supposed to be standing out front was never there. I'm not sure what I did to cause it, but subsequently when I Spired, the temple was lost due to my "negligence". I understand that it's a repercussion of choices, but it'd be nice if the choice even presented itself.

I'm working on a second hero at the moment (There are multiple hero save files for those who haven't worked it out) who will hopefully not run into the same issue. My wife incidentally, didn't have this issue at all.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

I must be the only fool that didn't know about this, I made the mistake of saving at the temole of light (had to go to work!) and when i got home it locks up the system when i try to "continue" my game...so i can't even play! I bought a second copy, thinking maybe i had just scratched the other one and it still froze up...Thank god they are working on this...I had to start a new game, and I'll be giving the monk a wide berth until they patch it!Tongue Tied [:S] Also...are you effing kidding with the save files?!?!?! 1 freakin' save file?! On games like this i prefer to have 2 characters (G o o d [Good] and E v i l [Evil]) Fix that please...in this day and age, small inconveniences like that are unacceptable. ORLY [orly]

Lionhead, it has been 28 days that you have left us in the dark. That is two days shy of a f****ng month. Stop ignoring your customers. We are tired of waiting for you to decide how a "PRIORITY" should be handled, or what you think "KEEPING US UP TO DATE IS" .

Give us our update or give us our f****ng refunds. We are sick of buying all your bug riddled crap over the years, then you turning a blind eye to your consumers.

Tell us wtf is going on with your game.

    This is an isolated issue

Not to be nitpicky, but if it's an isolated issue that means it has only happened to one person.

no, he means it affects this one situation.

not entirely, I have come across a similar issue myself with another quest, and only came upon this one when I had to completely restart my game because of the former and thought I had to restart again because of the Abbot issue, but it just turns out I needed like ten moe renown and I got that with just showing off a trophy

Its ont exactly the same issue but I kinda got screwed on the hero of skill quest later in the game. Basicly I am in Bloodstone incapable of reacting with anything or even drawing a weapon or using an expression. I was able to surmise that this was a problem with the quest, so I simply decided to finish the quest by getting the renown needed, but the only quests I have left to complete are all in bloodstone and one is the Banshee quest so now all the doors are shut and I cant even try a third party sudgestion on fixing the issue.

~Thanks Lionhead for a great game, that has its share of bugs and dissappointments, but overall a great game~

I think what he means is we need more than one save POINT per file. I know that 99% of the bugs could have at least been avoided with mulitple save points per hero file. But I guess LH wants to have the choices you make PERMANENT. Never mind that some of these choices break the game. Crazy []

Pretty much, although I'm wondering now if my inability to save the Temple of Light (which still annoys me since I don't even have the option with my E v i l [Evil] Will user) might stem from accidentally tapping the laugh option during the funeral. I have a third test hero to well... test the scenario.

Re: Monks Quest Issue - Unresponsive Oakfield Abbot

I think I finally figured it out. The reason why they haven't patched it, and are making one large patch instead of a few small fixes, is they want to have it fully patched for Christmas! Makes sense I guess. Hotfixes are likely to cause more smaller errors, so why not just make one large "ultimate" patch that will fix all the problems (G o o d [Good] luck Lionhead) before everyone gets the game for Christmas!

I totally enjoyed waiting for the game, paying full price for the game, and then building up a 4 star woodcutter, and then not playing the game for WEEKS. How unprofessionally made.
