    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

The game freezes after 5 minutes or so, it won't allow me to start a new game!!

What is the option? Can't return the gamer, since I don't have the original box. $60+ wasted

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

My boyfriend bought his 360 Elite about a month ago and bought Fable II at the same time. He's beaten the main storyline and for all those hours hasn't had any freezing issues.

MY Hero on the other hand... *heavy sigh*...
it froze on me 4 times in 20 minutes two nights ago, twice in 10 minutes yesterday, I went to Game Stop and exchanged the disc last night, and now that I'm home from work and playing, it froze again TWICE in 10 minutes.

I am SOO frustrated!!! When is this patch coming? How am I supposed to get into my gameplay with this happening? How can his Hero get through the main campaign and my Hero JUST recruited Hammer and I can't get through a solid 30 minutes of play time?

    *GRRR*

Oh, and this is cute -
even when I get my game to load back up, there are non WALLS or PEOPLE. Just all the interiors of a building, and my floating cutlass walking around. Down []

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I had a horrible experience with fable 2.  First off my wife is playing  and it freezes on a loading screen and my x box makes a wretched noise reading the disc.... boom rrod....a freggin elite.  I send it off for repairs, it gets back and my fable disc is now unreadable!!!  Every other game works fine, halo3 , dyn warriors 6, oblivion etc.... all played for long periods no problem.  I get a rental from a local game store, freezes after 5 min of playing.  My dog enemies and people are all invisible.  Even orbs and the expression wheel!  So i stupidly buy another copy, also the same results freezing after 5 min of playing and everyone is invisible.  I cleared my cache (one G o o d [Good] thing everything is now visible however still freezes).  So 1 elite repair 1 rental disc and 2 new discs later still no more than 5 min of playing before the freeze.  Funny i played halo for 8 straight hours with friends on line and at my house with no problems!  Please lion head you have heard our cries and have read all my emails please make it right!  You have the potential for greatness and have proven so, now you must prove your loyalty to your customers and those who have been loyal to you.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Fable 2 freezing while loading can be a pain, but there are several workarounds that can get you shooting Gargoyles again.  Remember, once you get back into the game, change locations then save & continue.  These workarounds seem only to work once.   Big Smile [:D]

#1 If you have 1 or more Hero game saves, go into systems, game saves and delete what you not playing.  Go back and your game should work.

#2 Go to Systems, Memory, Harddrive choose Y, press XX, LBumper, RBumper, XX.  Sign into Live, launch Fable2 and re-install update.  Go back and your game should work. Stick out tongue [:P]

#3 If your not playing Fable2 with a live profile, go to game saves and copy your Hero game save to your Xbox live profile.  Then log into your Live profile, launch Fable2 with your save and your game should work. Laugh []

    Re: Your #3 tip:

I've heard from numerous people that this is not possible...
are you SURE your tip won't cause the person's game to be lost?

    That would be kinda mean...

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Yeah, I got the same problem.

We played Fable II for a while without any problem, then out of the blue RRoD.  Ok, under warrantee, send it off for a replacement.

It shows up yesterday, updates automatically, then go to pick up where we left off. No such luck.

First it'll freeze after a few minutes. Then it'll reboot and everyone is invisible, along w/half the buildings.

    Then reboot, freezes.

    Rinse, Repeat, Freeze.

    Cry []

Select copy and it will create another Hero game save to your live profile that should now get past the loading screen.

    and before I forget..

after getting back (no more freezing) into the game,  copy the update save game back to your original profile..it will ask you to overwrite..select yes..then you are back playing again.  Also you keep a back up just case its needed in another user profile.Up []

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Hi, Iv completed Fable 2 with no problems. It wont load - It was saving a part that I didn't want it to save (Wont say because don't want to spoil) so I think I turned my xbox off (or removed the disk) while it was still saving (Remember: didn't want to save this part and I didn't know it was going to save after it.) and now I can't load that hero again, it gets stuck on loading up the hero. With my second hero I can still load that up (loads slow) and still move around, but I cant with my first hero. Can anyone help?Zip it! [:#]

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I did have the same problem. The game allowed me to teleport to Bowerstone during the Bridge Too Far Quest when it shouldn't have because the bridge was destroyed... and people started spinning around in circles and teleporting, or floating up and down, it was very bizarre.

Anyways, after I turned it off and back on, it continuously froze whenever I loaded the file. But, I fixed this problem. There is a new feature with the New X Box Experience that lets you download the game to the hard drive. It will still require you to put the disc in for security reasons, but it will now read the game from the hard drive versus the disc.

It stopped freezing from then on. I guess it is a disc error and begins sending the wrong information to the X Box. (just a guess) Because reading it from the hard drive works fine, and my disc is not scratched at all.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I am on my second copy of the game and still getting the freezing.

I have installed it and deleted it to my Hard Drive several times now and it becomes worse.  I now get a "Disk Error Message" telling me to 1.Clean Disk, 2.Restart Console

    What is up?!?!?!?

The Disk Error comes up when the game is installed to Hard Drive but when it's deleted I only get the Freeze every 10-15 minutes

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Please spread this around. Like so many out there I've been playing Fable II on the xbox and enduring having to restart the game every 10-20 minutes because it freezes up on me at any particular point. Last night I came across the following and after following the instructions, I played for about 6 hours without the game freezing. VIREAS, not sure who you are but I think Lionhead should have posted this months ago and owes you a debt of gratitude (or money)chemas-microsoft-comSurprise [:O]fficeSurprise [:O]ffice" />>>

    Hi,

Like so many of you, I was having problems with the game freezing ever 5 to 10 minutes and it was becoming wholly infuriating. I tried rebooting, erasing the cache, install the patch...nothing worked. Until I tried this.

    Step 1) Clear the cache.

Go into the system menu, select memory, hit Y on your hard drive, and then hit XX LB RB XX. It will then ask you to confirm the maintenance. Selected Yes.

Step 2) Install Fable 2 to the hard drive.

Go to the "Play Game" slide. Hit Y. Selected "Install to Hard Drive"

I did this and it completely fixed any freezing problems and my framerate and load times are better as well. I highly recommend doing this even if you're not having freezing issues.

I have not tried install the update after doing this as I don't play online but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Even if it didn't you could just clear the cache again and that should fix it.

    Cheers,

    - Vireas >>

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

    Hi,
i've the same issue with Fable 2. I got the game on the release date in Europe & i could play it for as long as i could. After a few weeks the game started freezing after a few hours and later on after half an hour. Now, when i start my game and play for just a few minutes, the game freezes again!
I've waited sooooooo long for Fable 2 to come out, and i was really excited that day. Lionhead, fix it. Please, it's an awesome game and i wish to play it until my xbox explodes.
Just for the record: there's nothing wrong with my xbox. I can play Assassin's creed or any other game without any problems.
Please fix it, it would be a nice Christmas present.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Is there anyway to fix the problems with Fable II without downloading the game onto my Xbox? I only have an 8 gig hard drive and I'm using about 6, so I don't think I could download it.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

My son has a brand new out the the box Xbox.  It even came with the NXE, and it locks.  So it does not only happen to the Jan 07 Xboxes.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I'll put the same thing here as I did in the fears and problems forum and maybe one will get noticed. I went through 2 disks. My first I had before NXE came out and it froze every 5 minutes. Just got a second for christmas cause I sent the first one back to Amazon but never got my rewards points back. The second one lasts anywhere from 10-30 minutes. I tried every combination I could think of. Without patch not on hardrive orbs off/on, without patch on hardrive orbs off/on, with patch on hardrive orbs off/on, with patch not on hardrive orbs off/on. At first it seemed that it worked better with the patch not on the hardrive with orbs on which goes against what most people say but then did the rest again and there was really no difference. It usually freezes right before or right after people have long talks about a quest. It froze a few times just standing in town or fighting. I'm going to return this one and get another to see if I get better luck. Also when I first played I went off the save from the first disk and there was no problem starting in Oakfield going to talk to the Abbot till I got to where the bandits say "Better go tell the boss" in Rockridge. The 2 bandits didnt move when I got closer they didnt attack and I couldnt draw my weapons. I could sprint with A but the other buttons didnt work. I kept going into the Inn and the bandits there didnt attack either and I still couldnt attack back so I restarted the consol and erased the saves. Hope this helps Lionhead to find a solution.
