    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Okay seeing people ranting about "game sucks, don't buy it, wasn't tested" and so on.Angry [] Guys, stop ranting, inhale. Exhale. Calm down. Consume your favourite relaxantSmoker [:zmoker:]. Whatever.

Right, first off, yeah games get tested before release. In house testing AND beta testing. It's possible the bug never showed during testing - not unheard of, believe me. Have tested games before - worked perfectly during beta, but a month after release the game came into contact with a wider variety of setups and patches & the fecal matter hit the fan.But anyway.

Now, okay games are not cheap - $100 in Australia for the basic game and on a tight budget that's quite a bit of money - that's could get me to & from work for almost a month. So having a game that won't run is no small issue. I admit I was annoyed when mine started that freezing problem. But that doesn't mean it's time to have a hissy fit.

You've obviously used google to find this forum. Have you tried Beakerbite's solution? For me it was a royal PITA - I had an earlier version of the 360 interface, which wouldn't copy games to disk. And I'm on dialup (6 hour cutouts) with the 360 offline. No live updates. It meant I had to start the PC downloading the patch from Microsoft/Live immediately after connecting to the net, then step away to let it do its thing. But it IS possible. Just. 75Mb isn't exactly a small patch on a 45k connection. I wish Microsoft would set up a torrent site or something for their bigger patches - that way time limited connections wont be a problem.

Once the patch was installed, Beakerbite's solution was tried. Guess what. I'm not sure it's entirely a fault with the game. The 3 day old disk that had only ever been brought home, placed in the drive and not removed since then was COVERED in scratches. Some of them almost a complete ring around the disk surface. I think the problem is more related to 360 drives scratching the crap out of brand new disks.

So, I got the old scratch remover buffing cloth and fluid out, polished the disk to a mirror finish and copied to hard drive. It didn't just fix the problem. The game now runs BETTER than before. I'm happy again, even if my pathetic little 20G drive kinda bloated now. Xmas time (or tax refund time) I think it's time to invest in a bigger 360 hard drive.

So, those bagging Lionhead, did you try the fix first or are you just venting? If you're venting, see the start of this post again. Repeat until calm enough to try the fix.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

obviously not everyone is reading all the posts. I said back on page 6 or 7, installing to harddrive DOES NOT solve the problem. I installed to hardrive BEFORE the game was every played from a brand new disk. I played for over a week from the HD before I started having problems. Since I was already installed to hardrive before the problems ever started, I don't have the option to install to HD to solve the problem. and I still have the problem after trying every single thing suggested in this thread. INSTALL TO HD DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

completely agree, installing to the HDD did *** all for me.
I had installed it to the hard drive before playing it so it was on there from the get and I still encountered the brightwood bug...

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

    Beardtoucher:
yup i've actually played mine for a G o o d [Good] number of hours, and i go to load a saved game, anygame, it starts loading and then gets about half way through, then quits loading and my xbox freezes, and so i restarted tried again and now it just keeps doing that everytime, i've tried everything and nothing. So i took my disk out witch hasnt been taken out of my xbox since i put it in there, has 2 long thin scratches along the outside of the disk, and many other people are having the same problem, i have no other problems with any of my other games, I play GTAIV for like 72 hours straight and my disk is still as perfect as when it came out of the box......
Great Job Lionhead, me and many others are extremely disappointed and lots of others (Including me) would greatly appreciate their money back for such a poor quility off the line product.
    THANKS!

Very strange, I also have never taken Fable II out of my 360 yet, until now. I see the very same scratches you described.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I say, everyone check the back of your disk, you might find something you didn't cause and it may put a frown on your face while explaining to you why you've been freezing.
It seems, while reading it, your 360 is butchering your disk.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Oh sure Lionhead... we really have 15% of all people who have fable 2 have freezing problems. LOOK AT THESE POSTS

i think that lionhead is just being E v i l [Evil] and unfair to all of us with freezing problems.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I bought fable2 a couple of days after release and put some time into it until it started freezing after the crucible (I believe it was in Westcliff).

I stopped playing it and bought Fallout3. That game started freezing my xbox until I got the RROD.  I bought a new 360 arcade version and finished Fallout3 without a problem.

I put Fable2 back in and continues to freeze on the new 360.  I take the game back and get a new one.  Still freezes!  I start a new game with a new hero and it freezes when the vendor is finished talking about the mirrors.

I cleared the cache, etc....HOW DO YOU FIX THIS!  I DO NOT WANT FABLE TO BREAK MY XBOX!

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I am having the same freezing issues on now two consoles. Fable 2 red ringed my first 360, and when I got the console back from microsoft, the game continues to freeze. Fable 2 is the only game that runs this way, so I think it is just shotty programming on Lionheads side. They are just a bunch of wannabe developers with a rich backer. I mean, they cant even fix their own game. They dont know how. Stick out tongue [:P]

Ill know in the future not to spend money on lionhead games, since they dont work. I havnt the time to start a legal battle with them either, but it really should come to this.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Another simply adding my voice to the list. Accepted the mission to find the Gypsy kid after finding the second hero. It froze loading the second door into the tomb. After restarting my console, I tried to load my last game - which has worked fine for every other freeze that I've had. About 10 seconds into loading Westcliff (having completed the crucible for a second time), the whole console becomes unresponsive.

I HAVE SPENT HOURS ON THIS AND I'M HOME ILL AND BORED!!!! I do not want to start over again.

I've tried running the game from the HD. I'm assuming I have that I have the patch.

    AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!

Microsoft customer service is useless, having spent 15 minutes on hold with nothing but static in my ear after talking to an automated system.

I bought the game in early Jan/after xmas, but only started playing it two weeks ago. I'm not currently connected to xbox live, so I don't know if there is any patch that I need, but can't be able to find anything to download online :/

A little acknowledgement that there is a problem and some guidance would be nice, Lionhead.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Just bought this game yesterday and placed it in the xbox, everything was running smoothly, I selected new game, chose the male character, it started loading Bowerstone old town and after about 5 minutes of loading the xbox froze. It keeps doing this every time I try, haven't even played the game yet. makes my blood boil lol. I bought a pre-owned one but there is no marks or scratches on it.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

i play xbox about every day for a few hours, not for any purpose but just to relax with my friends. theyre all telling me i should get fable II because its awesome, so sure enough i went and bought myself a copy. i got home and made my hero. after you get shot and youre at that tomb in bowerstone where you get will experience, it froze so i reeboted my xbox. i went to continue so i could keep going. it said "loading bowerstone lake" or something and then i heard a very quick "hum" of the chorus theme song before the entire screen goes black, and i cant hit the guide button( hitting guide button shows that the games frozen or not) and the guide didnt show up, meaning it was frozen. ive cleared the cache, restarted, made a new hero, rebooted, nothing works. i also (rarely) get a completly white screen after the lionhead logo.

Im BEGGING you lionhead! theres so many comments about this horrible glitch, all us gamers want to do is play your awesome game, but this glitch is torturing us. it seems like its in the same spot for us all, around bowerstone market and the bowertsone tomb/lake. pleeeeease, we all beg you, try and fix this bug!

    I have recon, so what?

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Just to add, i have been so desperate to play Fable II since release date. I have had 3 copies in total most of which i have had to take back to the shop due to freezing early on after the starting intro. I gave up each time trying to get it to work ( including clearing cache, installing to hard disk etc..) luckily i got my money back from the kind retailers each time

Next chapter in the saga, what i decided to buy another copy  some 6 months on ( im still eager to play this) from a different retailer and it works 100% fine im about 8 hours in and its fine so far 'touch wood' no so much as a lag.

Does this mean Lionhead issued faulty discs  to the public? or was it a fix they issued? im curious to know why.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

My problem was I was playing the See the future DLC.

I was trying to get 1985 at the coll.

So while I saved my area I turned it off because the pts were at 2000 something.

This is why my profile crashed because it was still trying to save, but I powered it down.

I tried to clear cashed problem but I don't wanna sart a new game.........................

I have also tried deleating the content and re downloading it back up so it would be in a new place but that wouldn't work.

The thing that sucked the most I had the two/three teddy bears and I had 9/10 dyes

This freeze issue sucks. Second time happening

First Time was a randome area when I was reciving a gift in Knothole Island.

I do hope the Dev. Fix this Soon because I need the last Colourist Achivement unless someone on this forum can give me the 10 dyes in a new profile and i will trade them all back.

    please and thank you

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

What i did to fix it is clear cache for Fable II for any of your memory unit or hdd. Then go into the game and update it. I updated it and i beat it 2 times, with no freezing. try that Lick [:lick:]

Only got to play snowglobe on STF, it froze, my save isn't working when I load it says the storage device with the dlc has been removed. I wish lionhead has just waited longer and made a smooth game.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I quit playing Fable 2 today.  My game froze last night after getting an audience for the door in Wraithmarsh.  I'm stuck in place and can't do anything but access the menu.  I'm stuck in a scene so I can't teleport either.  I've tried installing to my HDD but no luck, as well as deleting the cache and other fixes suggested across the internet.  I refuse to delete my save file.  Thanks for nothing Lionhead.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

I had the exact same issue. Random game freezes after 5 to 30 minutes. I tried everything that I found posted on the forums to fix it and nothing worked.

One thing I did notice is that when I played a new game, with or without the patch, installed to the hard drive or not, the game would run great. No lock ups. Only seemed to happen when I loaded a saved game.

Next time I loaded a saved game, I did a quick "save and continue". I played for over 3 hours each time I did this with no freezing. Not sure if this will help anyone, but I'm satisfied.

    Thanks.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

This is silly.  I can't load Westcliff or the Crucible or anything in that region.  It's so frustrating because the quests I want to do take me there.

this is the Worst marketing scheme ever, the disc got a giant scratch on the rim just from being inside the console, and now it doesnt read the disc, i dont think i'll ever buy another game from Lionhead again.

    Re: fable 2 freezing issues

Um hey. I didn't see anyone have a freezing case similar to mine, so I'm just asking is there any way to fix it at all? What happens is, at seemingly random points in the game, my game freezes. It begins to slow down, and then soon some of the textures start to disappear and stuff. Then BAM my character, and all the NPC's, are frozen in place. But the odd thing is, the environment such as grass, trees, even the cloak of my character, still sway in the breeze. It's ridiculous. And if I attempt to press start or even open up the dashboard, the xbox freezes. HELP!
