The movies game introduced me to my first internet community and is still my favourite place to visit.
I remember how hard it was to get your movie advertised, it would be off the front page of "Your Movies" in a matter of 2 minutes. Those were the days, the days when your movie had something new to the industry it would be top of the most watched. I remember seeing custom backdrops for the 1st time, i could not believe it. With each boundary being pushed further the quality of movies improved dramitically. The effects became a big thing. Oh It's On was way ahead of it's time. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif)
It was somehow like the real hollywood of today, how movies that brought something new would be the most watched ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)
To sum up all the other things i will remember from the movies online:
Porn Demo,One Star ninja's, 5 Star Hobo's, The Hurricane Reviewer that 1 starred movies...i know who you were , *Guerilla Competition *typo?, The Chrysler competition and all the europeans complaining, The Review threads, The Prop shop demo movies that would go straight to number one, The demo movies in general , The Horse Trilogy, The Chocolate Mouse regime with a complimentary nose kiss, The Oooooh and ahhhhh's when people relised Satan's Munchkin was a guy, It brought out TMOA, Aegis of Therion - Seriously that was also way ahead of it's time, The Steven Kreg!, 30 Seconds movies?!?!, Dulcilicious rewards and Double D, damn if only i can hear her say it again.... There is so much more which cannot get to me now.
Edit: Does this mean a few forums will be going as well?
If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. Then again you can just post in here i suppose -> http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/1705961.aspx

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
This day was lingering for a few months now and I was expecting it...
You are killing off a franchise...maybe if you advertised the game a bit more it would of done well...You had a concept...the best of it's kind and now...you are just letting it die... ![Tired [:tired:]](/emoticons/tired.gif)
I hope you are keeping the forums to the game, This forum is alot too us and if you just killed it off, it would feel like we are being thrown out into the cold...
I hope you at least make some kind of site which displays some of the best work that TMO had, because you should be honoured to have some absolutley fantastic movies and directors on your site and you know what they got for it???
NOTHING....
They played this as there passion and I think the least you should do is make some kind of Memoriam site to the best movies TMO had...
I believe this is The Movies Official 3rd Anniversary and all them times seem... gone....so please cut the whole, 'we are so sorry we ended the site, it ment so much to us' crap because if you really liked it, you would of kept it...
Well anyway, the last thing I can say is, keep the forums and at least make some kind of Memoriam site, unless you 'can't' get funding... but I think you can seeing as you are owned by Microsoft...
Plus, will you still be selling The Movies and The Movies: Stunts and Effects in stores, cause if mine ever stopped working, I might need to get a new copy...
and so from me TFoster on TMO...
NIGHT!

The forums will stay we just might have to change a few sub-boards! So many ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) memories, doesn't seem like 3 years. Just one of the things that comes to mind: the Warrington Film Festival, which was great!

The game has been dead for the past year . There is only a minority that are left and maybe a few new people now and again.

Most big directors of the past hardly upload movies onto TMO now, It is all The movies underground. It is a game! If people took it too seriously then that is their loss.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
TFoster....your post was just....odd. I'm not entirely sure how to reply to it. All I can say is, get a grip on reality. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) This is nothing to be upset and angry about. It was expected. Sure you liked the site and all, but, it's just the internet. No need to go off on one like. What would Lionhead have given these directors? ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) They got the praise of their peers, I think that's all they really ever wanted. They don't expect Lionhead to send them money. ![Cheeky [:cheeky:]](/emoticons/cheeky.gif) Advertising and selling the game is not Lionheads domain. After three years people still don't understand this. Publishers and retailers are responsible for this kind of thing. I don't see any reason for the forums to go. I don't know why people think that the forums are going to be deleted. Black and White forums are still there. Oh and you know, it was TMU that killed TMO. People stopped using TMO, so it's natural that the site closes. People have found something better, it's a great site and far superior to TMO. No point LH keeping up a site nobody really wants anymore. That said - on to my real post. I've had a great time here with TMO. Through this website I have been introduced to Leora, who is the most important person in my life. It's been fun having a laugh on the forums meeting various creative people and getting to know them. It's been a blast. Hurray for surviving till the end! And you won't be getting rid of me yet.
The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
Woody, Sam.
You have KILLED the great TMO, and why? Tell us the real reason why!
Because Microsoft did not want to spend money on the site? Maybe, but with microsoft's wallet they do not need to remove us.
I agree 100% with my Co-Host TFoster, the things about memories means nothing when you are killing the HEART and SOUL of TMO.
I came to love the community, now I will have to get used to calling TMU the heart of the community.
I will remain loyal to the LionHead forums... if you do not cut it out as well!
Kit, this is a grim day! I blame the staff.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
TFoster:I'm not sad about this, it's just...all the great movies on there are gonna go...
We better begin a mad rush to download all the greats off the site ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)
You make a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) point, TF. A lot of ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) movies will be lost as a result of this closure. It's a pity LH have chosen to close TMO down. It will be missed.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
TFoster:
All the new Movies games that will be going into stores should have a leaflet advertising TMU as the place to put there movies so we can get more people over at TMU ![Smily [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
I second this.
If people buy the game without the knowlage of TMU many people might never find the online aspect of the game.
Foster, your on a roll with ideas. Keep it up. ![^^ [^^]](/emoticons/^^.gif)
Kit here... for now.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
Now all the TM CD cases will have to be reprinted, along with the manuals as it says you can upload your movies to movies.lionhead.com
I've been with TMO for them whole three years and i've never regretted joining. So many memories will go in a flash!
Thank you Lionhead dev staff for your hard work on the site when it first opened and how you had continued supporting it untill recently.
Keep the forums please!
All things come to an end. So as Roger said, so long and thanks for all the fish ![Smily [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
PS. This is likely to ruin the TMOscars if movies on TMO can't be viewed. Please let all uploaded movies be viewed untill atleast January 2009 but that none can be uploaded.
maggot:You mean there are so many xbox threads because it is such bad hardware and kills itself every week..
Songs recently listened to : 1. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen 2. Livin on a Prayer - Bon Jovi 3. Radio GaGa - Queen

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
Something to bear in mind about any comments where people might be emotional about the TMO closing:
It is a sign that they care and that the site has been an important part of their life.
TMO has had a very important part of my life, especially the first year or so. This is for personal reasons that I happy to talk about.
In October 2005 I had a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. I discovered TMO in the November and it helped me to recover by giving me an interest that I could lose myself in.
Part of my problem was in communicating with people, especially women. The community here helped me to deal with my problems a an environment where I could control how much interaction I had. The process was very therapeutic for me. For this, TMO will always hold a special place in my heart.
Now 3 years on along with counselling and wonderful meds, I am now a totally different person to who I was back then.
Regrets, Ive had a few; But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway, But more, much more than this, I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way.
Ive loved, Ive laughed and cried. Ive had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way, No, oh no not me, I did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught. To say the things he truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows - And did it my way!

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down
My favorite moments were...the overwhelming response to L.M.A.O. Studios first film Jesus VS Easter from not only TMOers, but from people across the globe. The massive support and threads protesting the banning of The Unwanted Hetero. The release of S&E that allowed us to really open our imaginations. Receiving eight hotpicks. Being invited to display The Courage Within series at the Rome Film Festival by Lionhead. Being entertained and truly inspired by films like Stir, Obsession, Oh It's On!, Capital, The Hospital trailer, Bombshelter, One Last Breath, Into the Shadow, Press Play on Your Graduation Day, Thongocalypse Now and many many more. But truly my favorite moments over the past three years are the friendships Ive had the pleasure of acquiring.
I would like to thank all the modders who have spent so many hours going blind staring at their monitors to create such amazing props, sets, costumes and beyond. You are the ones who first launched our films into something special. Thank you!
I would also like to give a very special thanks to JazzX for his undying selfless community leadership and support he has given to so many over the years in this community. Outstanding work and thank you Jazz!
Thank you Mort, Sam, Woody and the rest of the Lionhead community team. Man have you had to endure some ups and downs over the past three years eh? I hope more than bad from us nutcases.
Lastly, Id like to give a cheers to Lionhead Ltd. Thank you for creating such a imaginative game that has been such a creative release for so many. I for one, love The Movies Game and will continue to produce films with the TM engine.
The Movies Game is not dead, it has just evolved above and beyond its intended design. TM engine films will live on on sites like TMU and continue to creatively evolve. That my friends is incredible!
So raise you glasses and be of cheer...
“To you LH and TMO, thanks for three exciting and wonderful years!”
Cheers and Salute'!
Mefune Akira, JennyN, DK, Sushii, Toshiro Akira, Bucky McMacho and the rest of the crew from L.M.A.O. Studios
Thanks for the fun TMO! Sign up for a TMU account and start uploading your films today at tmunderground.com!

Looks like the case Tom . Maybe we should make these a special last TMOscars.
I'm really emotional after reading that post Roger. ![Cry []](/emoticons/cry.gif)
TMO has been such a big part of my life for so many years, now it's gone it's like something I had a passion for has died.
My best memories has to be FoDoog's movies. They really were a gem and very funny to watch.
