I might consider coming if they bribe me with promises of one of those fluffy Lionhead rugs.
For some reason Birdo clearly has the voice of a Japanese man in this trailer. It's like... eating a cake. You expect the cake to be delicious, but when you bite into it, it sounds like a Japanese man. See what I'm trying to say here?

After a G o o d [Good] idea in this thread we decided to reduce ALL the Prop Shop prices! So every items now costs 10 VC which should make them easy to purchase for everyone.

P.s: the pages still have to be refreshed so the prices aren't correct at the moment, but trust me everything is 10 VC once you put it in your basket!

Can we convert our VC into Albion gold?  Hmm [^o)]

I expected that day... it was only a matter of time till Fable 2 needs a server and it have priority against TMO. Sad [:(]

Sad but it was bound to happen.

So... i make movies anyway. I dont upload them on TMO since a long time... I found my new plattform on dailymotion.com

hope to see you there... and on TMO Underground Wink [;)]

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down

I think TMO had to have reached the end of the road at some point. I mean you can only do so much with the in game capabilities. Outside editing is obviously the way forward. TMU is better in every way. I think Lionhead stuck around admirably as TMO was costing them a lot considering about 20,000 actually bought it.

Fundimentally Lionhead is a business, remember....

Thanks Lionhead for 'The Movies', TMO and all the brilliant timea and events it has spawned.

*Let us look forward to TMU*

I know many of you will disagree but i think that this is another move in a series of bad moves made by lionhead, closing TMO is just completely killing the franchise and i think people will appereciate still having TMO to express their creativity, its just not the same uploading movies to MSN or whatever. First it was the several delays of Fable 2 and then when it was finally released it was a disappointment compared to Fable 1 and now closing TMO i think Lionhead has no where to go but down from now on.

Very sad news, but no surprise to me after all...

    I had some G o o d [Good] times here.

Now that LH and Activision (I guess) call it an end, there are two burning questions on my mind:

Is there a chance that LH will give the modders details on how to make new scenes for the game (or mod it even more completely, with permission), which will help them and speed up their work considerably?

And is there any chance that we might one day own the rights to our movies? Some of us have taken the software far beyond of what I guess LH might ever have dreamed of... and it would be nice for those of us who still love the software, and want to create great new and astonishing films using it, to be able to show them not only on festivals, but also be able to make money out of them, by releasing them, lets say, on Metacafe. I for one would be glad if these things would at least be thought about, especially as loads of machinima nowadays is made combining several programs.
It would be a great advertisement for TM (and thus LH), plus it would be a grand gesture.

    Just my two cents.Smily [:)]

    Please seriously consider this.

TMU is where many if not most of the community will be uploading to. This means that the same community as here (pretty much) will still be watching movies made by the same directors. So not all hope is lost.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down

I think it already did Steven. Stick out tongue [:P] A while ago the Black and White servers were taken down (to make way for TMO if I recall)
This isn't an unusual thing for any games company who aren't really big on the online scene (and also those who may or may not have enough staff to actively run the site - it's clear human resources were distributed elsewhere with regards to TMO, a while ago). And it's not like it's an MMO where online play is the actual purchase.

It's unfortunate that Microsoft didn't feel like throwing a little cash our way, but hey, what can you do. Stick out tongue [:P] They're not exactly the kind of company that would support an innovative product like this.

As for the modding tools and whatnot. The way I understand it, it isn't really Lionheads decision. As you all probably know by now, it was Activision who was all anal about 'mod talk' and it was they who did in my opinion, a rather poor job of moderating TMO (For those that still don't understand - the moderators for the forums and the TMO website were completely different for the most part).

That's not to say Lionhead didn't make plenty of mistakes with the product. There are many design decisions I would have done differently. Wasting time on the tycoon mode for example, was in my opinion a bad decision. But you can't deny they made some bloody G o o d [Good] software here. At least, better (read easier, more user-friendly, more intuitive (arguable I suppose) etc) than the competition. Well, if it wasn't you guys wouldn't still be using the game, right?

I'm just glad somebody was thoughtful enough to give me it as a Christmas present when it was released. I wouldn't have known of the existence of the website and gotten to know so many diverse and interesting people (not to mention frickin' talented) and had such a great time around these parts of the internet.

Oh, crap, garlic bread burning! Better click post before I get carried away.

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down

I have to say it's sad to see TM is closing it's movie section.  I became a member a few months before stunts and effects was released.  I've met many creative film makers and friends.  TM gave me an opportunity to explore avenues I never thought was possible.  TM was thriving was I first came on board with new post every few minutes and getting 50 -100 votes within the first hour of your film release.  Since Microsoft bought out Lionhead and the creation of the new forum.  Everyone new it was only a matter of time before TM would go under.  I'm truthfully surprised it has lasted this long, it's the nature of business.

I do have to thank many of the Voice Actors who took the time to bring my characters to life in my films.  The Modders who helped me create backdrops, posters, 3D models and animated scenes and the many friends and supporters of my films.

Hopefully with TM closing we will not miss many more talented film makers in the endless space of the internet!

G o o d [Good] luck to everyones future endeavors!!!!

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down

And so the curtain will finally come down on this creative little game, what an interesting journey its been.

It has been fantastic to have seen this game grow and become a more community driven project, The movies will always have a special place for me as my modsite Skinshack became far bigger than anyone can imagine, allowing users to have access to 1000s of original and high quality mods... the sheer quantity and quality that we were able to offer was truly staggering and my thanks must go to the modders who helped establish the site, and as a result allow it to gain mas popularity.

A special thanks has to go to my buddy from across the pond Trip who has stuck with skinshack throughout, without him skinshack wouldnt have been half the site it was.

Other special things for me was appearing on thw 2nd ever show of tmoa radio, achieving a series of top 10 movies and number 1s when tmo what in its prime and the charts were a competetive jungle. Being given stunts and effects free by lionhead for the work we had done was also a real treat and a pat on the back which was nice!

alongside that ive been able to develop skills that have helped me with other projects modding, voice overs scripting etc, without this ideas on my little big planet levels would have died a death haha!

Id like to thank the true tmo members who have contributed their all to tmo, for a time they made this place a vibrant home for artists to express themselves.

    G o o d [Good]bye and farewell tmo

I do not think fansites will deteriorate because the essence of TMO is.

SkinShack will always be strong, I think the mods will stay, but the movies have a new home, and that's TMU.

First, I would like to thank you for the short, though lovely journey you've given me. But alas, Eheu! For we all knew this day would come. For all the fights, the wars when it was shut down for a short time, the conspiracy theories, it be still quite a memory. When Ken and Roger durst create TMU, in the wake of the crash. Yea, I recall TMU, O TMU what a role thou hast played in such a downfall! Still though, perhaps this is for the best. For no man can live forever, nor any building stand eternal. So, farewell TMO, may thy next life be as potent as this!

Hmm not the best of news to come back too, but I guess it was coming one way or another.

Even though the faulty charts may be dead and buried, I'm sure the "The Movies Game" will at least live on through the community spirit and TMU.

Re: Announced earlier today; Curtain Comes Down

The Movies Online was entertaining and fun while it lasted.  I was inactive for most of 2008, but 2006 and 2007 were great years Smily [:)]  I remember the Ultimate TMOer, and how i got kicked out because of copyright infringement.  I remember coming home every Sunday afternoon and tuning into the Ken and Roger show as fast as I could.  This site introduced many people to creativity, and was many people's first online community experience.  It also inspired me as well as others to move on and create real-life videos, and other creative projects.  Right now im activeley working on a youtube series under the name MSVS Studios, and trying to produce an album that I have been working on for awhile.  Thank you lionhead, for this wonderful experience.  This will probably be my last post here everyone, so peace, and its been a great ride Big Smile [:D]

It's been absolutely an amazing ride, there have been so many of us in the community and luckily I've had the pleasure of meeting some. The Movies: Online really was ahead of its time in regards to user created content for games, it has been impressive to see so many of you be a part of it. The forums will stay, and feel free to link to any fan site I think it deserves some kudos as well. Some epic movies as well, please make sure you back up any movie you like from TMO (if there is no other copy) and well...thank you for everything. Just over 3 years! And so much stories.

It is being taken offline on 5th December. Some stage today.
