jazzx: TheMGMKid1A:
jazzx: TheMGMKid1A:Jazz, I hope there is room on the lifeboat for some of my films? But if not, I am prepared to go down with the ship like a gentleman.
All episodes of "Cleopatra" have been archived. The only other 2 active films on TMO are "Pax Romana" which I will consider and "Rio Diablo" which scored *** stars, solely for music violations. Correct the description for that film by December 5th and I'll put it on the lifeboat, otherwise it's not getting on.
Thanks Jazz, glad to know the Queen of the Nile won't sink. I made an adjustment on Rio Diablo which I hope is enough. if not. Here is hopping Rio can find a deck chair to hang on to.
MGM
That "various artists on freeplay" crap would have got you a one-star dock. That means "Rio Diablo" is now worth **** stars and has scraped its way onto the lifeboat.
Wheew! And we didn't have to dress Rio up as a lady to get it on the lifeboat. Thanks so much Jazz!

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
But - here's a complete unknown to me who's made the lifeboat: 2060by westost Genre: Post-apocalyptic Religious Discourse Duration: nearly 3 minutes - released Monday 3rd April 2006, 17 ratings, 4.53 star average BBFC rating: U - suitable for all ***** stars A really ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) representation of just about every "intelligent" religion v science argument we're used to seeing again and again. With spooky, lonely analogue synth music bookending the piece, this is great stuff.
that also means that "2060: The Road of Smoke" has been automatically downloaded and will be watched after December 5th.

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
"Maintenance" gets in: Maintenanceby Pulp Celluloid Genre: Character Study (with a twist) Duration: 2.5 minutes - released Tuesday 20th December 2005, 26 ratings, 4.69 star average BBFC rating: (12) - for one scene of graphic violence **** stars Vigilante janitor cleans up more than just the floor at high school. ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif)
story - I thought the acting was great to start with but didn't change
mood during the key moments in the film. It was like it was all being
read out of a book. But well put together, no doubt.

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
bmaitland:Could you possibly add Bmaitland: The Musical to your archives (You gave it 4 stars)? ![Tongue Tied [:S]](/emoticons/emotion-7.gif)
Yes, both films have long taken their place on the lifeboat. The second one wasn't too ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) but got on as a family member of the first one. I even said it was in the archive twice in my review (one of my better ones): **** stars What would I say to the person who made this film if he were here right now? What would I say? ... I know .. it goes something like this ... [G7 chord on the piano] "Consider yourself 4-starred! Consider yourself in my movie vault! Your film gave me a laugh And thats .. why .. you get such-a-high mark! OH! Though your acting was sad And your singing sucked And your audio was bad But then who gives a ... MONKEYS! Because the jokes were ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) And had me roaring with laughter! And the '7 excuses' song I'll remember ever after! SO! .. Consider yourself 4-starred, Consider yourself placed in the archive You'll certainly go quite far So consider yourseeeeeeelllf (sidder yourself [sidder yourself]) 4 Staaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrred" [whispered] "what?" [Shouted] "FOUR STARRED!!"

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
"Cry Wolf" by vesobe got *** stars. However - the sequel has made it into the lifeboat, so that means "Cry Wolf" goes in too: Cry Wolf II: Innocence - Part Iby vesobe Genre: Supernatural Detective Thriller Duration: nearly 16 minutes - released Saturday 22nd July 2006, 77 ratings, 4.91 star average BBFC rating: (12) - for mild gore ***** stars An excellent supernatural crime thriller. Usually with such
noiresque films, the narration is done by a single protagonist. But
this one divides the narration between two opposing detective
characters - and it works! Very original. We have the regular
human detective and, also on the side of ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) , a werewolf detective.
Both are heading for a showdown as the evidence for a young girl's
murder points to a werewolf committing the crime. It's a very well acted film with a very intelligent script. Time to download part II as well...
That means part II has also been downloaded and put onto the lifeboat. It will be watched after December 5th.

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
Hey, can you have a look at Big TMOer 2008 EP1?, it's also on TMU though, and EP2 is exclusively on there as well. I just wondered how much you would give it, my best review has been three stars from you. Which I'm quite proud of to this day.

I'd also like to nominate sickjoke's Infiltration-

Well, your two films don't need rescuing, here's where to put them - they'll be given a traditional star rating and review on TMU. It will be exactly the same as usual no matter when I get around to watching them: http://community.lionhead.com/forums/53/2246431/ShowThread.aspx But right now, my priority is to watch and rescue as many ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) films as possible from the rapidly sinking TMO ship. "Infiltration" has been added to the queue.

Patience! I've still got 6 films to watch before I get to that series. Anything left in the queue on December 4th will be downloaded anyway, then I'll throw the deadweight overboard a week after watching it, inviting the community one last time to request the link to rescue those films that fall short. Anyway - just so you know where I've got to, the next film I'll be seeing is one I've always wanted to watch but never got around to - "Star Coconut Girl Saga" ...

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
And ladies first aboard the lifeboat (even if they're the sort who find men tasty to eat)! Star Coconut Girl Sagaby KirinRiotCrash Genre: Zany Comedy Sci-fi Duration: nearly 23.5 minutes - released Monday 30th October 2006, 132 ratings, 4.89 star average BBFC rating: /PG\ - for some scenes of violence ***** stars This film is ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) fun, even if one doesn't get all the TMO in-jokes (such as "Come On" and "Blackbird" and "Steven Kreg"). Generally
well performed and with superb editing and overlay work in the action
scenes. There were also some very quirky overlay choices which had me
scratching my head (such as the ridiculous cartoon face which is frozen
over Star Coconut's face at the end of one scene). But then again,
there were quite a few bizarre moments like that which I kind of got
used to. Audio levels in the bar scene were a bit off, the band
(who were great) often drowned out the dialogue or had me straining to
hear. The barman was consistently too low in the mix - which is a shame
as he gave a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) performance. But that really is it for the
gripes, it was a fluffy, colourful story with much to recommend it in
its slick visual production values and equally slick soundtrack.
(Flanagan's Fog did very well here). More could have been made
of the "fish-out-of-water" theme - but that's probably a not-so-secret
desire of mine to see this stretched out into a 90 minute feature film;
a compliment if ever there was one! [or it could just be that
those numerous skimpy costumes appealed to my lowest common denominator
- I could watch them for hours ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) ]

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
Project Sudoku (lol) has earned its place on the lifeboat: Project Sadako: Session Iby Buccura Genre: Arthouse Psychological Thriller Duration: 8 minutes - released Thursday 26th January 2006, 182 ratings, 4.87 star average BBFC rating: (12) - for violent scenes **** stars A lot of the voices were too low against the music and each other in
this film. But the premise was intriguing even if the events became
very disjointed by the end. Maybe the confusion was deliberate, but I
didn't see the motivation for the ghost hunter to actually fire a shot
at what was a defenceless target. There were some ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) bits when Sadako
talked to Coyote in her head though. Nice music throughout. A strange movie - bit of a puzzle. Maybe it should have been called Project Sudoku!
That means the 2nd part has also been downloaded and saved for all time. It will be watched after December 5th.

Re: All aboard the JazzX Lifeboat!
And now, safely locked in my box: Locked in a Boxby richke Genre: Reality TV Horror Duration: 8.5 minutes - released Friday 24th March 2006, 141 ratings, 4.83 star average BBFC rating: /PG\ - for scenes of horror ***** stars
Wow! What a great twist!
"April Johnson" acted her socks off, she was great! Why have I never heard of her in 3 years here? Completely believable.
The
ending, because of her performance, had an immense impact as I was
fully on her side and hoping for her to do well in the TV show,
especially because she had something to prove to her goading sister and
her horrible egotistical opponent.
The film wasn't without its
flaws - some unavoidable like the mysteriously reappearing door in one
shot. But there was a very sloppy moment at the beginning of the film
where the TV ad shows the prize to be $500 000, but the presenter says
it's $250 000. That reduced this film to 4-stars at a stroke, as I
would never allow such an obvious mistake like that in my film.
But
overall, this is a very original story very much in the "be careful
what you wish for" school of Twilight Zonish storytelling; and coupled
with the acting performance by the lead, it makes for a film which is
impossible to rate lower than 5 stars.
@ JazzX: The name of the actress in this film is Sabrina Cerny - perfect for the role of Julliette in Urban Warrior. She must be tracked down and locked in a box until she agrees to take the role! [that's not too far away from the plot of the movie!]
