The explorer coat, bandit boots and gloves, and tart items

    Hello,

There seems to be some confusion about getting your hero to wear the explorer coat. I've gone and asked the guy who was in charge of all the hero outfits, and this is what he said.

"You need to win the 'High Roller' jacket in the pub games. This is actually the same jacket as the explorer jacket, so equip this if you want to complete the explorer set."

This probably explains why it's pretty hard to find Smily [:)]

    Edit:

On Bandit Boots and Bandit Gloves: These two items definitely exist (I checked the debug menus in the game). These two items are only found by being gifted these items by a Thug.

On Tart boots and Tart gloves: These two items also certainly exist. These items can only be found by being gifted these items by a Tart.

    Edit #2:

By default, an NPC will offer the usual rewards whether married or not: potions, gems, jewellery, dog books, dog collars, dyes, and certain expression books. When married, in addition to these they will sometimes also offer furniture rewards (therefore you diminish your chances of other items being gifted).

Also, certain NPC types will occasionally reward items appropriate to their type, e.g. blacksmith offering weapons, furniture seller offering furniture, alchemist offering resurrection phials, posh people offering posh clothes, etc. This is the case with Thugs and Tarts.

    On your chances:

Bandit Clothes – A possible reward from Thugs (when not married). Around 2% chance.

Female Tart Clothes – A possible reward from Tarts (when not married). Around 2% chance.

New rewards will be generated every once in a while, so there’s a chance a particular NPC will have another reward later. Each town has a maximum that can be offered at one time, so it’ll stop generating new ones if several villagers already have them.

Hope that helps some of you guys!

     Jon.

    Re: The Explorer Coat

I just don't understand why you need the Highroller's Coat, and then equip the Explorer's outfit to wear the Explorer's coat.  This means the Highroller and Explorer coats are the same thing.

I have the explorer shirt, trousers and boots, is this all there is of the outfit? Because when i equip the highrollers coat nothing happens!

    Re: The Explorer Coat

The High Rollers jacket IS the Explorer Coat. I'm not sure why, but at some point the names appear to have been mixed up, hence the confusion.

You need to win the jacket from the pub games, and equip that. All will then be rosy.

    Re: The Explorer Coat

So, how some NPCs like the Explorer Coat, this means they really like the Highroller's Jacket?

    Re: The Explorer Coat

Finally an answer. Kind of started to wonder if thats what happened since in the guide book the pic for Explorer's Coat was the Highroller Coat. Awesome, thank you for answering, now Sam and Gradius can ignore my pm's to them.  And I think I have the bandit boots. When I go into "Outfits" and pick "bandit" I'm totally dressed from head to toe, so I must have gotten the boots from somewhere. Maybe I got them from a chest or picked them up from a dead bandit, I'm not sure. I'll have to double check when I go home.

I just tried this and nothing happened. I still have the HR coat in my inventory. Anybody else get the same results?

Re: The explorer coat, bandit boots and gloves, and tart items

Here's a photo of my guy wearing the explorers shirt+boots+trousers, and the HR coat.
(I couldn't find the explorers gloves/hat anywhere, not sure if those even exist. Haven't come across them)

Is that how it's meant to look then? As an overall set?

I don't think anything is meant to happen. Only reason I think people were making a big deal about it are those that want to have every piece available, own everything, and no one could find it. So it started a whirlwind with everyone trying to seek it out.

Re: The explorer coat, bandit boots and gloves, and tart items

I went to my Clothing options, went to outfit then made myself naked then I chose the Explorer Outfit just as you said, but it doesn't automatically put on the Highroller's Coat or anything, or say anything like "Explorer Coat"... Nothing was put on for coats. What you made it sound like was that it'll automatically put it on, but this isn't working for me. Any reason why?

Also would these gifts from Thugs/Tart NPCs remain possible if you marry them and make them your spouse? Or would their gifts change?

    Oh, thanks for the answer!

The coat my hero is wearing is the Highroller's coat.

I don't remember, but it's one of the brownish dye, I'll find the real name and pm it to you if you want.

I know this sounds stupid, but who are the "Thugs?" and how do you get gifts from them. BTW. How do you get the other five star dyes? I can only find Apocalyptic Pink.

Re: The explorer coat, bandit boots and gloves, and tart items

See, that's the problem I'm running into. I see "Thug's" and "Tart's" everywhere, but none of them have the 'gift icon' above their heads. So how do I go about making them give me a gift?
