Exporting full characters, with costumes, to Poser, D|S, etc?
Say I have the short-sleeved modern US military costume with a combination of two different heads and the bandanna hairstyle, and I want to export it to Poser or Daz or somewhere to do more interesting things with it -- is that even possible? How many hoops do I have to jump through?
Sorry if this question has been asked before, and it probably has, but... I don't even have any idea where to start, and it seems like all the FAQs assume you know how to export a character all at once.
Or do I really just need the patience to hunt down each separate model in the costume, apply the proper textures, find the head, apply the proper morphs, group the hairstyle to it and then move them all when I want to pose the darn thing?

Go to http://www.dcmodding.com and ask there. I would assume there would be many hoops.
You would need to import the meshes into blender, and then export them as obj files that poser likes to use.
Of course you would have to do all the bones and such. I would assume it would be agreat deal of work but that if anyone could help you it would be those guys.

Re: Exporting full characters, with costumes, to Poser, D|S, etc?
The only way I have been able to halfway do it, is by using Blender... Import whatever you want into Blender (I have about zero knowledge on how to use Blender), save it as a compatible file that Poser or Daz Studio can read (.obj, etc). I have not been able to figure out how to import with bones and all, which could potentially be a huge problem.
What I did was just bring in a body mesh (I think I used the 60's bathing suit) into Blender, then saved it as an .obj (easiest file I know how to use). Imported the .obj into poser. They are only a little smaller then the normal poser/daz models... so you could probably attach a head onto it, to where it fits properly, and export the head object out of Poser, and import back into Blender. You would then have to save the head as a .mesh file with the correct bones of a Movies head (the starmaker head mesh can probably be used to copy/paste the bones into your daz/poser head obj.).
Then you would export it from blender (I have no idea how to export things as a character with bones/textures and all in it) and put it in the correct area for The Movies. Again, I don't know where you would put it outside of using it possibly as a latex head type, where you could simply replace the head with the latex head.
For the body, the same type of thing. Get your poser/daz model to the same exact height as your Movies character first. Still have to use Blender to add the correct bones and such on it. IF your able to import the original bones from Daz/Poser, you might want to get rid of some of them, as the Movies doesn't use anywhere near the amount that poser or daz does (for the newer models). I would try to replace instead, to make sure that the animations work properly with your figure.
The important thing is to make sure the height is right, including the arms/hands/legs, etc. Else when holding something, it could end up looking completely weird (Guns hovering a few inches above/below the hand, etc.).
I'm not able to do any of this, because I am Blender Illiterate, lol. However, I seen a couple people use a different program for the body, and bassically did it similarly to how I explained.
You will have to know what your doing, unlike just posing and morphing figures in Daz or Poser, you will have to figure out Blender to some extent... till a better "Freeware" software comes along that is able to read both as Blender can.
I was hoping someone would have figured a simpler way around all this, as Daz/Poser is some awesome tools for character modelling. You should potentially be able to make some really unique characters, even if the models must be the same overall size/height, the body "MASS" should be able to be manipulated. Still would get alot of hands through bellies and such though, but carefull animations and camera placement should make being able to work around that a bit.
It's a shame, because you can also use Poser and Daz to create alot of different items, clothing, hair, as well as animations. They have the same general primitives as most 3-d software programs (cones, boxes, etc.), that can be used to create things from scratch. Alot more powerfull then most think, but the biggest pluss to being able to work in them, is the ease of use. So easy a caveman can do it!
