Okay, I got "Fable The Lost Chapters", I go to Install it, and i get the error(when i Put the Product Key in)

"Invalid CD Key!

Please check the number located on your Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the CD packaging."

I've entered in the "product key" about 7 times now, each time getting the SAME f***ing error.

Anyway to fix this or ANYTHING?

I have exactly the same problem.  Just bought TLC at Best Buy this afternoon and tried to install it tonight.

It will not accept the CD key on the orange sticker inside the CD case.  And the key dosen't have any of those characters that could be confusing, like the letter O and the number 0.

Not sure that I'm going to be able to play this without talking to MS or Lionshead first... 

Kinda sad that I can't even get past the security on a legitimate, legal copy of the game.

 

 

 

Same problem here. I just bought from Fry's in Indianapolis. It's not taking my key.
...and Microsoft's support number isn't recognizing "Fable" in their speech recognition.


After googling these issues, I've only found a few hits of people asking questions about this and each one is recent, as in the last few days.

Maybe it has something to do with the Servers?..

make sure your not mistsaking soem letters for something one time I kepth thinking that an r and n toegether was actually an m.

if you check the cd set number on inside of disk you will probably find it to be different to the cd set number sticker on the back.there has obviously been a huge f*** up at the packing joint....i am still trying to get an answer for this prob.

As far as I can say, Fable TLC does not have DRM online activation! Why would you need any servers?

My advice is to go back to the store you bought the game and return it or contact Microsoft Support and send them the crap back, so that they replace it. Sending it to MS most certainly will cost you something which seems in case of Fable:TLC not reasonable when you could get another copy for the same price. They have obviously made some mistakes with the packages of a certain delivery to the stores. Printed the wrong keys on the box or so.

It doesn't work, and I didn't realize this until I had already discarded the "certificate of authority" sticker on the outside of the box.

Yep, I bought one copy and returned it for a faulty product key, then bought another a few months later and it was also faulty. Some one really messed that up...

Well, it is an older title so maybe Lionhead is not really paying attention to it anymore. Still they should make sure that all product keys are working.

had the same problem ... called MS ... got a new key ... game runs!!!

I have the same problem too. Tried it also on another PC and let another one type the key. It is still invalid.
The Lionhead Support only points to Microsoft where you either need a credit card for paid support or a product key to proceed. The FAQ says I can find the product key at the game start screen *lol*. I did not find any contact form or E-Mail-Address.
If I buy a game I want a valid CD-Key. I will send it back to the shop.

Thank you for your posts pointing me to the fact that the CD-Key maybe really defect. I never had such a problem before.

I bought Fable today, and let me just say that I am so glad that I found this forum filled with people with the same problem. Thanks for the info on what to do, and thanks for the product key Shaakr!

Had the same problem here...   tried one of you guy's CD key without much hope...

And it worked!

(Shop didn't want to take it back... seal broken!)

Cheap labor (packaging) leads to this kind of mishap.
