Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
Despite my lack of playing time I will be pre-ordering this as well. Is there a Collectors Edition for the Xbox?

ShadowRage41: The Bag:Despite my misgivings about the advertising my faith in Bioware has caused me to pre-order this... the special edition too, I mean look at the what it gives you... how could I not... I'm so weak ![Sad [:(]](/emoticons/emotion-6.gif)
lol. yeah I pre-ordered both Assassin's creed II master Assassin edition, and more recently Batman Arkham Asylum special edition. I checked out DAO 's special edition as well but I will just get the normal edition of it. Game stop told me DAO has been pushed back to a 7-2010 release, has that been confirmed by bioware? Anyway Bag, you guy's hook us up with some cool stuff for the Fable III limited edition and I will get it as well. anyway I look forward to playing DAO in the future. ![Smily [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Wrong. November 3 2009 is the release date of DAO. The month at least was last confirmed today and they only mentioned the month because the 360 and PC release on the 3rd with the PS3 version to follow later in November. According to gamestop the PS3 will release November 17. So you either talked to a clueless employee or you are trolling by attempting to spread misinformation. http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=Dragon%20Age

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
The Bag:From what I've read the console version is closer to KOTOR than BG in terms of camera view and combat, selection of actions comes from an evolution of the wheel from Mass Effect.
DT, calm down slightly and stop accusing people of trolling.
GameStop local stores, online website or phone support lines do not have anything placing DAO at a july 2010 release. I am not inclined to think any GameStop employee would make such a claim unless he/she is clueless. You can talk to GameStop all day and they'll only parrot the info on their official sites even when something is wrong(which rarely happens). I kept up with the news on this game continuously and as I said as of today DAO was re-confirmed for its November 09 release. Apart from that I am far more suspicious of someone who mentioned DAO in a footnote after unrelated games than I am of a company I dealt with for nearly a decade. Then the question "Has BioWare confirmed this yet?" is placed as if the claim is certain fact which is only as far as you can get from the truth. Hell there is absolutely nothing in all of the internet even hinting at a possible delay until July 2010 for DAO and given that it is extremely popular(what with all the sold out LEs already) there would have been quite a few reports of something like this if it was founded in the slightest credible information. The he mentions that gamestop "told" him which automatically throws around unverifiable information....I don't think so. I hesitate to accuse GameStop of being so clueless since they are not only the top videogame retailer in North America but also a company I dealt with for a very long time.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
Despite the fact that I'm not very impressed by the trailers of this game, what I have looked up on it doesn't look too bad, I (By 'I' I mean my brother) will probably buy this, maybe not on release date, may even by the game my self, My birthday lands on the 14 of November and apparently the game comes out on the 9th in America and probably the 12th in the UK, but that depends on if I even get any think close to that kind of money given that I will be 19 (Expecting Socks and Deodrant.. Maybe a shaver) or if I need to replace some equipment.
"IrishMorn" If Adon and Sagat step in....ah, what the hell, I'll get drunk and join in on that one.

November 3rd is the official North American release date for the 360 and PC versions and the PS3 seems to be getting a November 17th release although there is no officially confirmed release date for the PS3 version.
Well I imagine there going by the numbers with this release so if November the 3rd is a Tuesday I'm guessing it will be here on the 6th, doesn't make much of a difference either, it will more then likely be releasing here in November and I'm almost certain that I won't be able to afford it on the release date, the PS3 version doesn't mean much to me given that I don't own one, just hope my 360 makes it to November ![Smily [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif) .

It is NEVER my intention to troll a topic. or spread misinformation. all you had to say is" no that is not the case here is the link". be respectful.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
Just looked this up on Wikipedia and apparently you only get choice of Mage or Noble when it come to Humans is this true, if so that sort of sucks I'd like to just start off as a common human rather then a Lord and I don't like playing Mages (Prefer Paladins).

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
I believe so yes, you play specific characters rather than blank slates with vague backgrounds. It's got upsides. Richer atmosphere, deeper immersion, better chances for some solid and unique storytelling based on that character. Downside is by making it so specific, we have to suffer limitations elsewhere and could end up with a selection of characters not everyone will necessarily want to play as.
Trust me, it's still a step forward overall. Characters need to have proper backgrounds built solely for them to really become memorable. How many times have you been pushed into the role of a 20 year old dude who has no outside experience and has been sheltered his entire life by his foster father/mentor?
For some reason Birdo clearly has the voice of a Japanese man in this trailer. It's like... eating a cake. You expect the cake to be delicious, but when you bite into it, it sounds like a Japanese man. See what I'm trying to say here?

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
Ho I know it has upsides but it's just so limited in options, I don't see why we couldn't have a wider variety of Origins or why were just limited to 2, I liked the idea of choosing an origin instead of having to go around with a faceless human who's turned up out of know were and a started slaying dragons out of the blue.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
From what I've read just now (coincidence) in a preview of a gaming mag, the character creation is free to chose. There are only some restrictions when it comes to certain classes. A dwarf can not be a mage for example because the dwarfs are magical resistant, but they can be anything else. You also have to chose certain backgrounds which may also narrow your choice of classes. Probably something like a noble citizen can not become a chaotic thief or something like that. There will certainly be limitations on prestige level classes which specialise the basic class further. Something like a dwarf thief can not become a magic using thief ... only guessing here though. Anyway, from what I've read it may be the best RPG since years. At least the PC version and mainly from the strategy point of view of an RPG. The top down view and the editor are only available for the PC. The top down view is the only way to plan your strategy in the fights in my opinion and the editor will keep the community busy with new content for years to come. This alone makes it a must-have title in my opinion. Take the Neverwinter Nights 2 example and the mod Pool of Radiance for it ... simply godlike!
Everyone should boycott Ubisoft and their new Online DRM for PC games. This has gone too far in the reduction of the rights of users and I am sick of it! It is not made to fight piracy, but to control the customer.

Sadly I only know what I read about this, if it's true what you say then I'm very happy, It's just I like playing the commoner and working to the top and from what I've read the Dwarves are the only lot who can be a commoner, otherwise I'm looking forward to this. I would be ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) if you could create your own Origin but I doubt such technology is available just yet, with the tech we have these days I imagine it would take a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) long while to create a system were you create your very own origin from scratch while having it able to effect the world around you., could be wrong though.. usually am.

Well I don't know for sure of course. The rpeview I read was very detailed and the played the game for about 6 hours which seems just to be the tutorial/ introduction. As far as the different origins go, I could imagine that some of the very talented modders could easily integrate more of them with the help of the editor. At least I think the Neverwinter Nights amin campaign was modable with the editor back in the days. The new editor even seems to be heavily improved from the old Neverwinter Nights Toolset. You can now create your own cutscenes, add voiceovers, make additional worldmaps and what not ... so why not add a new origin and some character backgrounds.

Aye but that's the PC version were talking about, I don't have the kind of computer that would run that type of game so it's the Xbox 360 version for me ![Sad [:(]](/emoticons/emotion-6.gif) , I imagine a lot of things are possible with the PC version, heck with Neverwinter Nights it was possible to import models from Blender as weapons and item.

Well there are 6 origins and each is suppoesed to be so unique that it has an additional 10 to 20 hours of gameplay consisting of different choices, quests and areas. KotOR was extremely successful precisely because they made a detailed background to the PC that gamers really enjoyed and the plot twist was awesome. DAO is also supposed to revolve around betrayal so there's plenty of room for great plot twists there. After all there are 3 elf origins(Dalish, City and Mage) and they look completely human except for the pointy ears. I am very interested in 2 of the elf origins(Dalish and Mage) as well as the human noble although I'll probably play them all as some point or another.

Re: Dragon Age Originates October 20
The Escapist seems to think Dragon Age might actually feature gameplay-relevant tough choices: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93979-Dragon-Age-Origins-and-Choice-2-0
If the story presented here is anywhere accurate, this could be really awesome.
But I doubt it is. I've heard this kind of thing before, and it always turns out to be a disappointment.
But I suppose someone's bound to do it right someday, so I'll keep my hopes up.

"might feature gameplay relevant through choices" ?????????You must have never played a BioWare game. That is NOT a "might" that is a fact. That's what BioWare does. Games with hundreds of choices where you choose an answer to EVERY single conversation and the story takes drastic turns based on those choices. Play the first KotOR(made by BioWare) to see the finest example of this.

You have got to be kidding me. I'm not looking for cheap forced choices. Kotor was as black and white as a zebra in a silent movie.
