Wow...I can't believe they have such a major glitch in this game after waiting so long for it.  What a let down.  I can't even finish the game.  Same story: married Alex, home at Serenity Farm, went away to the Spire then zombie kid and invisible wife.  If you have this problem, just don't choose the love path or you're screwed.  Oh well, Oblivion anyone?

Here's my story: 
I married Alex early on, and moved her to the wagon in the gypsy camp you start out with.  At some later point, but still not very far into the game, I ran into her out in the middle of the bower lake region and she divorced me and took the kid (never gave her a second ring).  I then finished the game without ever marrying again until after the finishing the main quest, at which point I chose Love, bought the castle, and married some really slutty lady named Jen from Bowerstone Market.  I took her to the castle, moved in, had a kid, and left to do some more stuff.  When I come back, she's gone, and the kid's no longer a baby and following me around everywhere.  Soon enough, I get the Family Emergency notification, but the wife's nowhere and the glowing trail is nonexistant .
I'm not quite as disgruntled because I had no Retribution quest to finish, but this still blows!

I've had quite a lot of spouse trouble with this game. Various husbands and wives have left for no apparent reason and taken our various children with them through the course of playing. However the current husband has been with me for a long time now. I married him just after the spire. I have one son with him and that hasn't glitched yet. However, we keep also having a daughter but the moment I save the game and come back, she has completely dissapeared from the family screen and all. Now I finally bought the castle and moved the husband and son into it. I went away for a little while and then came back to see him. He is completely gone. It's not Alex, he's some gypsy names Chik. I've looked everywhere for this guy and he's just gone!? What is going on here! I adore this game but the amount of bugs I have encountered is staggering.

I only gave Lady Grey one ring (to rule them all) lol, but seriously, just one ring.

I have the same problem as all of you, just that i didnt married that broad alex, instead i married Sadie the Whore from Westcliff and Nikki the Whore from bloodstone, i had the first broad living in the demon door homestead with our daugther, then just she dissapears, i thought, "thats what i get for marrying a whore !!!" but then marryed the second broad, the whore from Bloodstone, bought her a house in Bowerstone, had another daugther and then again, she dissapears, WTF lol ??? Now that i read your posts i just realized i hasnt anything to do with the kind of broads i marry lol, so any solutions for this annoying, wife stealing, bug ?

Simple as to sort this one out is to have another wife for a few weeks
You should then get a incoming message saying both your wifes have a gift. Go check it out and it should be a blackmail letter(NOTE:Make sure its the wife thats dissapeared thats the one you try to find otherwise you will never find her other than that) If you choose to pay the amount of money your wife you want doesnt find out you cheated on her other wise if you kill the guy you have to pay she will get a divorce with you. After you have done this quest you should be able to divorce the new wife you used just to get your old wife
and TAH DAH theres your wife bk. Hope it helps as this is probs the answer for most forums aswell i suggest you put it up in the forums while your going across them for the answer

yeah i lost lady grey in fairfax mansion (after gettin the romantic date acheivment) an the trail is none existant found it out when i was lookin through my family's an saw she needed me to ...... take care of buisness so i thought hey why not an she buggered off somewhere with out a trail so to speak lol

My hero didn't marry Alex or Lady Grey and I can't finish the Retribution Quest as my hero's wife just vanished from marital home in Homestead. I did try what you recommended but the black mail letter never happen. Any more suggestion?

I lost Alex on returning from the Spire. I've given her numerous rings I find on my travels as gifts but none that prompt the engagement messages.

Funny thing is, before I left for the Spire, and after shabanging that broad, I noticed that there was a woman stuck in the floor of my Bowerstone Market house.

Its all gone horribly wrong from there and it reeks of annoyance.

I have the same problem. I married Alex at the beginning but when she wasn't having sex with me, I killed her. Now I can't set the budget or sell the house. Before I killed her, I married another girl and had a son with her. After returning from spire the kid was motionless in the house and the wife was gone. Glowing trail doesn't lead to anywhere.

This is really frustrating and I'll kill this game if it wasn't fixed in the upcoming patch.

Mine's my husband - had Ker the Gypsy as a husband since pretty much the beginning of the game.  Moved from caravan in Gypsy Camp to crappy home in Bowerstone Old Town to "The Nice House" in Bowerstone Market without any troubles.  We had a daughter, no troubles there either.  Finished the Spire quest to rescue Garth, came back and everything was still fine.  Then, while giving away gifts in town I decided to give Ker a ring (2nd one, marriage ring was first).  This then caused me to be engaged to him again (and he also accused me of cheating on him, with himself).  I was kind of confused but just went with it.  It told me to find a marital home, so I did.  Got the bigamist achievement, which I really didn't want.  Immediately after I noticed that my daughter became unresponsive and I couldn't take Ker back to my current home (Nice House).  Thinking it would fix the problem, I had the "duplicate" husband killed off by bandits.  Turns out they killed original Ker (since duplicate Ker technically didn't exist, it was the same person logged twice), so they took my daughter away.  I sold the second marital home (in Old Town) and reduced my original home's budget back to zero, but he's still getting money from me and shows up in my family log in Old Town as happy.  I can't find him anywhere (because he's dead) and have given up looking.  Don't give your spouse any "second" rings!!!  This is the only solution I can find, unfortunately I found out too late.

And on a side note, I'm also now encountering the Bloodstone Banshee glitch where I can't kill her at all.  Spent at least half an hour trying to figure it out, thinking there was a special object I needed or something, trying all sorts of things, before finally throwing in the towel and calling it a night.  Now I realize this is another GBG because not being able to kill her, I won't be able to talk to Reaver.  Tried starting over from last save area, didn't work.

I'll give this one more shot and start over because I was going to start a new character anyway (the giant hulking amazon woman hero wasn't doing it for me and I really miss my little girl), and I'll be sure NOT to give any rings to my husband (or from the sound of it, move into any castles).  I'll just have to cross my fingers with the Banshee or just not do the quest at all.  I didn't need the renown, as I apparently already had plenty.  I sure hope I don't get any more silly GBG's.  I already finish all conversations so the Abbot wasn't an issue.  If there is a patch incoming, please let it be soon.  I love this game immensely and it's sad that so many people are having these often-game-ending problems.

I married Wendy the house wife close to the start of the game, we had 2 children and mooved about 4 times, then after I beat the game I bought the castle and moved them in. I stoped playing Fable 2 for about a month and a half, then when I started back my wife told me that are son ran away to have his own adventure, I rushed to the hobbe cave and rescued him and when I emerged from the cave my wife was there to greet my son and me, after she said thank you the boy teleported back to the castle but before my wife teleported I saw she had a present for me so I quickly talked to her and that I think caused her to glitch out of exsistence because after I got my regular gift, she could not talk or reply to any expression including follow. She was stuck there emotionless. I quick traveled to my one and only family and the gold trail led me to fairfax gardens outside our castle home in to a wall. My 2 children are there but the gold trail leads to a empty gold circle where my wife should be standing. My children seem to see her because they say that shes happy. I look in the log book and it says she not dead.  I tried sleeping 7 days in our marital bed, I did about 10 times so thats 70 days and still no wife. I have grown attached to her and I have never onced cheated or even flirted with another woman or man for that matter, when I beat the game I chose to revive my family and dog. So I wish they would make a patch!

Married Alex but moved to Serenity Farm.  Definitely gave her multiple rings.  You have to upgrade her bling every now and then don't you!  Upon return from choosing Love, my child is home but my wife is not.  Oh the irony!

My problems were fixed. This is what I did.

married Alex at the beginning, but killed her, then married again and my second wife disappeared and my son was unresponsive after I came back from the spire. I set the budget to 0 and married to another woman and had another son in a different town. My invisible wife was very unhappy and was threatening devorce. So I went to bloodstone and there she was. I started having sex infront of her with a whore then I got a blackmail letter. I asked her to follow me to bowerstone market again and she devorced me there! I went back to my 3rd wife and paid the blackmail guy money so he wouldn't tell my wife about the other one. Now everything seems to be fine. Never give a second ring to your wife!

I have this problem as well.  I had a Wife and a Child. Then I had a second child, but the first child got the "Depression" thing where you can't interact with them and they just stand in one place. Anyway I played a little more Then I noticed that Both children where moving about and my wife was nolonger to be seen. guess my children killed her of something.

nearly exactly the same thing has happened to me. i own the castle and used it as my martial home and cant find her anywhere...now i've gotta try and find her because my child has run off into the cave (the rescue quest) and now i'm afraid i cant do it and i'll lose my child...dunno what to do some fix it plz.

Yeah, Its an iisue with that Alex woman!! I Got engaged in front of the Demon Door, to some random, just to get the door open. I never married her though. Then I got married to Alex, moved into House of Hard Knocks in old town Bowerstone, went on a quest, came back and she was gone.... The best thing is to not get married to her. Give her the note, and let her kill herself.... its better than her killing your game...

Oh, and i forgot to mention... She divorced me after a couple of weeks, for obvious reasons, and i married someone else.... who also vanished....

I just married a random woman in one of the towns, rather than one of the quest characters.  I didn't mess around with moving houses or giving her multiple rings.  She still disappeared.  If I try to adjust the allowance it gets stuck to 0.  Sucks for me because I set it really high to begin with so it's stuck there.  I think the cause was I saved in my house.  It says she's happy.  I can't fast travel to her location.  I had planned on having a child, but she vanished before I did.  I stopped playing the game when that happened knowing that some story decision involved my family.  Since then I have read the spoiler.  It would have been nice to have actually played through that section of the game.  I'm definitely not buying the additional content.  The same thing happened with Star Wars: Unleashed.  I refuse to play that until they fix the "Default Text" glitch.  They haven't fixed that game, but have released DLC.  The same thing happened with Ninja Gaiden II and a game freezing glitch.  I feel stupid enough paying for a broken product and they want me to give them more money.  These bugs are common enough that they should have been caught during testing. 

I saw there may be some sort of ressurection shrine in the DLC.   For those of us  who haven't chosen the Love ending, maybe if you let your invisible wife stay dead and use the shrine to bring her back.  I'm not going to be the first to fork up the Microsoft points and try. 

Ditto.  Married Alex, the ghost's wife, settled down in Fairfax Castle and had a child.  Now can't complete the Rescue quest until I've found Alex, who seems to have disappeared forever.

Incidentally, Lady Grey went missing too.  We weren't married, but after she fell in love with me I left her at the Cemetery Mansion while I went to buy a ring.  When I got back, she'd gone.

I married lady grey, finished the game (no children) moved here to fairfax from brightwood and now shes disapeared it says shes in the throne room but shes nowhere in the whole castle.

I've had my wife dissapear on me as well, with my kid! We were living in a house on Bowestone market. I fixed the problem by changing my marital house in the town (next door pretty much) but don't know if that might work for you...Worth a shot.

Cool I had this problem but I thought you had to get your wife to follow you to change marital homes...

I was having the same problem, had the quest where i had to find my wife then save my kid in the hobbe caves. I had alex as my wife, and we had castle fairfax as our marital home. I could not find her anywhere no one with a yellow ring over their head. I ran around and ran around, then i heard a lady say thank you for coming our daughter is in trouble. It was alex my wife, and she had no ring above her head. I completed the quest, and the ring on her head came back.

I didn't marry anyone named Alex, I married Gemma in bowerstone market (only gave her one ring), moved her into old bowerstone into the first house on the left when you take the path that branches to the left that leads to the overlook where you open the music box as a child.  Just before starting the 10 year quest I married a thug named Brook from Westcliff.  When I get back from the spire, my first wife is gone.  I really didn't worry about it as I didn't care too much, I married her early in the game just because.  I didn't realize how bad it was gonna suck til after I killed Lucien and my quest was to find my family.  I thought it might work just to find my second wife, but that didn't finish the quest.  So i followed the trail to my first wife, the trail took me to a house in old bowerstone I didn't even own (next door to the marital home).  I bought the house, still no wife.  I got another wife and moved HER into that house, hoping it would cause a divorce and solve the problem, all it did was change my target to another house I owned, still no wife.  I'm just reading this thread so I haven't tried sleeping 7 days, going to bloodstone (I just realized that it was destroyed, so am I out of luck as far as trying that option?  I haven't gone to bloodstone since killing Lucien), any of that, but I'm experiencing this glitch with no demon door, no woman named Alex, no second ring.  Just gone after going to the spire.  I was planning on playing the game again ( this time) but I really wanted to finish the WHOLE game first.  Sucks.
