PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

Congrats! You Win An Xbox 360 With A Messed Up Slot

Know who won that Fable II signed Xbox 360 contest? Some guy named NeoxDonut. He was thrilled to get the Peter Molyneux autographed console. That is, until he tried plugging it in.

The customized console is wrapped in a first generation casing. The innards seem new, but the shell is not. Below is a picture of the A/V slot for a first generation Xbox 360.
    FF0000-->

Compare this with the HDMI-equipped A/V slot of the Xbox 360 Elite.

Now look at this Frankenconsole mess.

The A/V and HDMI slots are shoehorned into a casing designed for only an A/V Slot. Meaning? It's not possible to plug the A/V cable in and difficult to even get the HDMI cable in there. Last we checked, being able to plug your console in is kind of important.

That's rather embarrassing for Lionhead. More embarrassing than usual. I do hope that they will fix these issues for him.

It was just for display in the first place, but they are going to go ahead and fix it.

i wonder if "fix it" means they're gonna but old (RRoD-happy) guts inside it... or if they're just gonna take a dremel to it. neither option is ideal...

    That sucks...

WAIT A SEC. ... It was signed by pm and he didnt notice it? Anyways, if they don't fix it I'd try to sell it on ebay or something to screw someone else over and than I'd buy a different xbox with the money or something.

Its autographed and custom made for a reason. Its not meant to be played but for show. I am actually not surprised. I wouldn't mind buying it off of Ebay

Its not a stupid response think about for a second would Microsoft fix custom made xbox. This 360 was clearly made to be stored in a case to be viewed than used. Lionhead of course knew about the slots but never intended to fix it cause it is supposed to be a collector's item/a 1 of a kind xbox. Even if the person who won it sent it back to get it fixed, he would recive a referbished plain white/or elite xbox back. Its like getting a one of a kind Bugatti and trying to use it in a drag race. Anyways should the person who won it already have a xbox? There are a bunch of games in the background of the picture and I bet he played Fable 2.....

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

When this contest was running, I remember that the console was advertised as being playable. I can't remember where I read this, but I did read the fine print. If it didn't say that in any obvious place, then it was in the fine print, but I specifically remember reading "This console is NTSC, so if you live outside of that region, you should not play the console and only use it for display." That's not verbatim, I can't remember that well, but it's close enough to what they had written. So it makes sense why they're replacing it, since the console was intended to be playable in NTSC.

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

I found it but it doesn't say it is a playable NTSC. It just says it is a "NTSC model" as in model I might assume it was referring to design or something...not sure. The links are below if you guys want to check out the fine print. I haven't seen anything clearly stating it was playable....

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

The contest was to win a fable 2 xbox360 signed by pm. Not a replica or a model or whatever your talking about. Theres different xbox360 models in each region. Just because it says model doesnt mean its a replica that doesnt work. It means what type of 360 it is.(Like there are different models of 1 type of car-ex: Honda Civic 2008, 2009,etc)

The 3 models of xbox360, games, and all other systems are:
    NTSC- North America
    PAL- Europe
    JPN- Japan

each region has its own code to read games and such(plus each region has different outlets and different powers of electricity going into the system) and the models specifies what region its in.

Since it said it was an NTSC model that means its a north american xbox360. I also never seen in the fine print that it said that it was an unplayable fake 360 with a messed up port hole. Your ignorance is starting to get annoying to me.

Your giving too much credit to lionhead(sorry lionhead), Lionhead has made a lot of mistakes before, their game is one of the buggiest games I've ever played, their site is even messed up( I cant view my fable 2 stats from my profile page like they said I could in a blog post...ever and I occasionally see blog post links that dont work), the fable2.com site has a broken link the little play game, plus pm promised a crapload of things that arent in the game such as throwing bottles or a nonretarded dog AI due to bugs. I'm sure if he contacts lionhead they will come up with a solution.

There is no reason to get all flammy about it. It doesn't say it was supposed to work also. The "LINK" said it is a NTSC "MODEL". I did not make that up it as it say in bold cap green letters so on the page. The way your making it sound you want all fine print to be literal so it will scare off all the contestants. Its a Custom Edition Limited Xbox for crying out loud. The guy who won it should be happy he won something than complaining it does not work. Be happy on what you got.

Besides on model wise you have to consider the Developers Xbox as it most likely looks different from consumers xboxs no matter what region. But hey fine prints are never direct and clear. But if the person who won it doesn't like it it should be under warenty. But as in my opinion though i doubt anyone else cares about it except me  Rolleyes [] its a Collector's item and cause you won it prize it Big Smile [:D]

"The 'LINK' said it is a NTSC 'MODEL'. I did not make that up it as it say in bold cap green letters so on the page."

I never said you made it up, I was saying that you were wrong about what it meant.

"AN NTSC MODEL" means what region its in not that its fake replica of an xbox360. Did you read what I put?

Developers xbox's look are the same as regulaer xbox's. They make the game on computer programs, theres no need for special xbox360s, they probably have a special code they put on the games to test them on the 360(like all games on the 360  and the 360 itself have a code) before they release them.

"But hey fine prints are never direct and clear" It wasnt a fine print since it wasnt a freakin contract, and they wouldn't try to swindle someone into trying to win something for free.

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

Well if the winner doesn't want his game console I have a shelf that it would look great on. I am not certain, but I believe it was an Ntsc model for display only.

After all, Collectors Edition means under glass protected from dust to gain value in the future, not all scratched up and wore out from use. More valuable if kept in pristine new condition.

Wow dude....just wow. Seeing you never heard of Xbox Developers kit then there is nothing else to say.

All I want to point out in my previous post for there being misunderstandings are: sorry for saying fine print but "Rules and Terms" and NTSC Model means its a model xbox that has the right components for it to play in a certain region. And I did mention "I assume" and not "it is" meaning it was a thought and not a fact. Games are made on the computer through the xbox so the console is able to play it correctly than using requirements based on the computer it was created on.

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

Even I noticed when I signed up to win that the Xbox is a display-only model.  The kid wins a unique Xbox signed by PM for free and has the nerve to b*tch about it on the internet, let alone make them take it back to fix its holes?  I can see where he's coming from, but that still seems very ungrateful, especially since they clearly said that it wasn't meant to be played even before he entered the contest.

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

I would just be glad to get something for free, if it's broken or unsuable, at least it's a free broken or unusable item. The fact that it's autographed is nice too...think of it as the lottery, if you hit it, you won't get all your money at once, you'll get a fraction then it's taxed...ect..ect, you only wind up getting about 3/4ths of the price, but hey at least you got something! Big Smile [:D]

Yeah I would agree I wouldn't even let that thing in my house, it would be going behind some case or storage container, where it can be viewed for all it's glory. If Lionhead knows they've made an error and the person makes a complaint, they should fix it, sure...but I think I would be very happy to just have that in my grubby paws. Stick out tongue [:P]

The "faux pas" are going on and on and on and on...

    Micro$oft is really the worst.

I would just cut the casing so I could plug it and if for one reason or another it would still not works, it would have been thrown to the garbage.

Re: PM Autographed Xbox360 has messed up slots.

From what the OP states and shows its a Xbox Elite with a casing of a Premium Xbox 360 or First Gen 360. Not sure if its possible without damaging the Xbox 360 itself but from what it is showing in the picture it lookes like it is possible to take the WHOLE casing off (actually IS possible) . The only problem the owner encounters is that he needs to find a First Gen 360 and take the casings off  of that replacing it with Lionheads without damaging the consoles itself. IF he can do that then its all set. A working box with a Limited Collector's Edition Signed Casing Stick out tongue [:P]  G o o d [Good] lucking getting it back from Msoft when it gets the RRoD

Even as a collectors item that isn't intended to be used this xbox is still flawed.  It's sort of like winning an old rare muscle car and when it's delivered you notice it has 4 concrete blocks bolted onto where the wheels should be.  Sure it's not meant to be driven but it should still retain its function ability.

    Yeah, I'd be pissed off.
I'm not buying the "it wasn't meant to be used" responses either.
If I got that son of a ***, first thing I'd do is plug it in and see if it works.
If I can't even do that there are going to be big problems.

That'd be like winning a brand new car  that's got nowhere for you to put the gas.
