Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

    1.Final Fantasy 7 : stood the test of time, G o o d [Good] music, G o o d [Good] story .

    2. Mass Effect: Like the story, Liked how your character had an actual voice.

    3. Jade Empire: Its an RPG mixed with Martial Arts how cool is that.

    4. Diablo: Me and my big brother had alot of fun with this game on the two player mode on the Playstation version. I was the archer and my brother was the tank lol.

5.Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance: As with Diablo I had plenty of fun playing this game with my two brothers and as with Diablo I was the Archer .

    6. Dungeons and Dragons heroes: Dispite this being labeld a bad game by most sites I found it pritty G o o d [Good] again for the co-op and it was 4 players and the xbox so me, my two brothers and my friend could all play and complete it while getting drunk together and as with the above I was the Archer my brother was the tank.

    7. The Bard's Tale: I liked the homour in this game and it had me luathing all the way through.

    8. Too Human:... ...... ...... ...... ...... Just kidding.

    8. Marvel Ultimate alliance: Okay the story wasnt brilliant but I had genuine fun with this game again playing with my freind and two brothers and in this game I didnt play the archer..... I played Deadpool lol.

    9. KOTOR 2: I completed it 4 times I think that counts for somethink.

10.Kingdom heart 1/2: I thought it was a bad idea executed prefectly..... I mean who's dumb Idea was it to mix final fantasy and disney? the idea is stupid and I bet the guy who came up with the idea got luagthed at alot but  it actually worked which is highly suprising.

    11. Blue horror: the same as above but its the smurfs meet horror movie's such as the nightmare on elms street, halloween and friday the 13th...... the only problem is that the game only exists in my head.

I was going to put on legends of zelda: ocerina of time but Im not sure that really counts as a rpg it seemed to be more of an adventure game then an rpg.

I was also going to put on this list.... Halo 3/ GTA 4/ Saints row 2 and Fifa 09 but I came to the conclusion that neither of these games are actually rpgs.

    Yeah, that's it.

Say what. GTA IV isnt an RPG, GTA 4 doenst have any RPG elements in it. Unless your talking about a Rocket Propeled Grenade.

Star wars the force the force unleashed isnt a RPG either. I havent Played X-men Origins but I carnt Imagine that being a RPG.

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

    maggot:
    Final fantasy 7.Huh? [:^)]

But godfather, gta and saints row as rpgs ?`Big Smile [:D]

    define an RPG? Wink [;)]

GTA had you take on the role of a main character and then perform missions/quests to further the story, gain more stats and increase your character abilities - in this case his weapons arsenal ...

and as far as I recall, The Godfather and Saints Row are built around the same engine/game style ...

    1) Final Fantasy VII
Still the only computer game where I got so emotionally involved that I actually shed a tear when Aries died, I got upset to find out Red XIII was the last of his kind and genuinely felt pissed off when they destroyed part of the slums. Gripping, twisting plot, brilliant game mechanics and at the time brilliant graphics, this really set the bar for what other RPGs should do

    2) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time
Mesmerizing game, brilliant puzzles, an intuitive game system and a fun, simple plot that captured your attention

    3) Mass Effect
The only thing stopping this getting the number 1 spot is simple - it was too short. It was truely epic in its scope though, and it had me glued to the game for 3 days (I mean like 15 hours at a time for 3 days), like a G o o d [Good] book I couldn't put it down. The pacing was brilliant, fast flowing, every changing, engaging characters and a genuine drive to try and get my character (chose a female) to have lesbian sex with an alien ... lol the maturity. *sigh* if only it had been more like 80-100 hours, something that would have had me glued for a week so it was like a holiday rather than something that was more like a long weekend away. Can't wait for the sequel

    4) Fallout 3
I came late to this particular franchise, this being the first installment for me, but it is mesmerising, the depth, the sheer scale, and the setting of the world is just pure brilliance, has me hooked when I get the chance to sit and play for a few hours!

    5) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Only gets pipped to the 4th spot by Fallout 3 because I find the sci-fi industrial wasteland aspect of Fallout 3 more appealing than the medieval fantasy world of Oblivion, but seriously all the same reasons as Fallout 3 for this one

    6) Final Fantasy X
after VII this is the 2nd best in my view, it was another towering story that did really engage you, but it was stopped from being really truely epic because they have found the snag of voice acting, some of those charcters voices really did just grate. That and there were points in the plot when you just wanted to kick the lead character in the face for being such a whiney ***, but yeah ... pure class game, the battle system was brilliant and generally loved how it all joined together

    7) Fable
disapointment at the time of release faded into sheer joy from how wonderfully simple yet truely engrossing the game was, I played it non-stop till I completed it ... well ok I fell asleep at my computer once, but then woke up and carried on playing (ah the joys of uni!) would have ranked higher but for the short game play and the feeling that it could have been so much more ...

    Glasses [8)] Eternal Sonata
beautiful in its own right, it's strangely gripping inspite of some odd cut scenes and I guess I love the quirkyness of the story! Great, off-beat game.

    9) KotOR
ah, what a game ... fun, brutal and gave you that choice of light/dark ... only problem was it was very hack and slash for me and oh so repetative in places, but still worth playing and worth a mention.

    10) Overlord
How could I not love this game, it is a mockery game and it works oh so beautifully. One to play for your tongue in cheek references to movies and games of the fantasy genre, and especially so if you like Lord of the Rings!

Note: Fable II failed to make the top 10 because inspite of me being mesmerized by brilliant visuals and gripped by a story that was absolutely fantastic, I was unable to continue playing until I either completed it or my attention span shifted. The game started freezing and bugged out on me, so until I stick the disc in the drive and try it out and it works (haven't tried this for a few months!) then I just wont be able to mark it appropriately.

Morrowind missed out for being just too damn depressing, it always f****ng rained! It was like Wales but more brown!!!! Still a great game

Final Fantasy IX suffered from being the shortest FF title on the Playstation systems for me, and thus I felt disapointed to find out that the boss I was fighting after 49 hours ushured in the end credits and left me wondering wtf happened to all the side quests and other stuff that I must have missed

Final Fantasy VIII missed out on a top 10 spot because I got stuck, and I mean horribly stuck. I create 4 save files when I play an RPG in case of such a situation, however in this instance I couldn't get back to a point where I could physically go level up for a few hours and try again at this boss, I was so epically stuck that I had to throw out 80+ hours of game time and start over, which I have to say makes you really reluctant to do it all again and it left me with this bad feeling in my gut, somy incompetance has lead to this not being top 10, rather than the game itself, I just personally can't see past that 80+ hours and having to restart situation ... Sad [:(]

anyways, there are my thoughts ... looking forward to cracking open lost odessy and playing that and getting FFXIII ... maybe I'll one day finish FFXII we shall see ... perhaps I'll finish Blue Dragon one day as well... for now though there just aren't enough hours in the day *sigh*

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

Wow, Chrono Trigger has only been mentioned twice? It's definitely the best JRPG I've ever played.

    - Developed characters
    - Awesome story
    - You actually see your accomplishments having major effects on the game.
    - Around ten different endings
    - Great graphics and animation for the SNES
    - A magnificent sound track
    - Streamlined but tactically deep combat.
Almost all enemies, not only the bosses, have strengths and weaknesses you'll want to consider. Combat against randoms doesn't degrade into default-attack button bashing as fast as it does in most RPGs. (You'll be doing that sometimes, bust mostly not).
    - Spawns in stead of random encounters (enemies can also often be avoided)
    - You never need to spend time tediously levelgrinding just so that you're strong enough to beat the next dungeon.

Come on, go play it. Up []

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

The Witcher for the 360 has been canceled or at least lies on ice. Financial and technical problems they say. Anyway, I would not expect it anytime soon.

I am still thinking about buying the Witcher. For 15 € you can not do anything wrong, but I am not so keen on heavily story driven RPGs. I quite like to have an open game with story parts and quests. Freedom to actually role play a generic character rather than a predesigned one.

Speaking of RPG's, anyone played Age of Pirates 2 yet. Sounds pretty G o o d [Good], but I am a bit nervous to spend the full price when it is as buggy as the various similar games (Pirates of the Caribbean, Age of Pirates) I played. Especially the controls where bad.

Everyone should boycott Ubisoft and their new Online DRM for PC games. This has gone too far in the reduction of the rights of users and I am sick of it! It is not made to fight piracy, but to control the customer.

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

I'm really enjoying the Soccémonesque RPG aspect of Pro Evo Soccer '09 on the Wii, Champion's Road. Assemble a team of 16 intrepid warriors, battle foes from across europe and turn the experience you gain into skills that develop your team. It stops being a sports game and starts being a stat driven RPG the first time you let a striker get past your defender so he'll take a shot at goal and give your goalie some practice Wink [;)]

    Blizzcut:
    1. Baldurs Gate
    2. Assassins Creed
    3. Diablo 1=2
    4. Neverwinter Nights
    5. Fable 1
    6. Icewind Dale
    7. Oblivion
    8. The Witcher
    9. Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of time
    10. Mass Effect

By the Way Saints Row, GTA Franchise, Godfather, are not Role playing games at all.

Baldus gate is terrible, along with Icewind Dale.

Lol. Zelda? I can't believe people still put down Zelda as a rpg, but can't put down GTA San Andreas. They have the same level of simple rpg elements. I know Zelda was great for adding rpg elements to an action-adventure game back in the day, but come on? A level 2 master sword is no where near as deep as strength, and speed in GTA San Andreas.

    My list:

    1. X-COM
    2. Chrono Trigger
    3. Knights of the Old Republic
    4. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Mainly due to the fact that the gamplay, sound, balance, pathfinding, and A.I. are better, and make up for the lack of levitaton, werewolves, throwing stars and infinite summons. Still miss them though. Maybe they'll include my missed features in the next game.
    5. Final Fantasy VI.
    6. Final Fantasy VII (Only due to the CG cutscene presentation and animation) Otherwise, it's basically a decently balanced 2D game in 3D with cool effects, and I mean decent because the mageria system and gameplay is a bit off. IX, X and XII are all superior in terms of story and gameplay balance. VIII is a mess, but still fun, and Squall looks cool.

    Too many other G o o d [Good] games I can't decide upon.

Surely it's the height of "Pot, Kettle, Have Fun" syndrome when you're calling somebody's taste in video games immature, when you're description of yourself reads "I AM the darkside", which is obviously a cliché childish attempt at being edgy and cool which would no doubt put you at the 13-15 range, which is about the time when the blindfold comes over your eyes regarding whether or not G o o d [Good] games such as Zelda, can handle your subconscious need for LOL GUNS N BOOBIES. You're probably the kind of person that thought The Witcher was for "mature gamerz only LOL".

Now that I've called you a hypocrite, and called you out for being a child, I'll add in my own personal favourite RPG's.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
    Breath of Fire IV.
    TES: Morrowind.
    Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

    Can't name ten, mind you.

I only wrote this because I hate you.
