I recognize that when the storyboard guys were creating the tales of Albion something like this was probably in mind, but this is an idea I can't really see any downside to.

What if the next Fable game puts the player in the role of William Black: it has the humble origins, discovery of Will, heroic (or not) deeds, rise to glory, and three REALLY EPIC boss battles already in the story line with plenty of elbow room for the Fable universe's trademark creativity.

The best part: Once the game is over (William Black liberates Albion from the Court), then players can continue to play as the Archon. Forget mere real estate quests: what about creating legendary weapons and building structures and fortresses to house them. Well-known examples would be the Snowspire Oracle and the Great Demon Door.
I mean, who wouldn't love to customize their very own Kingdom with customized cullis gate points and minor demon doors? The technology was described as "vast machines powered by Will alone".

Does anyone else think it would kick ass to play a Fable game as William Black, aka the first Archon?

I love the cocept, but somehow I doubt it will come to pass. It's too linear for Lionhead to make, there are no choices involved because history is already set in stone.

Still, if it was made I'd buy it, and probably enjoy it as well....

Well, there isn't much written in stone other than Black's discovery of Will, his journey into the Void to reclaim the Sword of Aeons, and his three battles with the Court. There's a lot of room for Lionhead to really do whatever they want. It would be any more linear than Fable 2 was.

I like this idea, I really do, but somehow i highly doubt that this would happen. I mean after what I've seen so far this isn't like sims where you can create things the way you want it to be. Sure you can *morph* things to the way you want it to be, but only to a limit. I think it would be cool do actually make the building and swords and all that but it doesn't seem like it fits into the fable games.

Fable is all about what the choices you choose affect yourself and the enviroment around you. It's not a game that you can do what you want and choose how everything is (like i can't be and corrupt but choose to looke and pure unless there's a bug in the game like what happened with my character lol). Needless to say i wouldn't want to see this either. Well the sword I think we should be able to make a sword in the game that will help us defeat the boss (if there is one) in fable 3.


But anyways thought though.

Honestly and truly, I am not a fan of The Sims, so you can subtract that from the idea I'm trying to present.

It's just that the Archon is described with so much power (seemingly to raise and lower the land as he sees fit), it really sounded to me like am omnipotent Video Game Player controlling a video game character.

If there is a game I had in mind to compare the concept to, it would be the old Dark Cloud game--minus the stupid dungeon grinding and Japanimated themes. And, of course, this aspect of the game couldn't really be tapped into until after William became Archon by defeating the Court.

I understand what you meen now. Honestly, I wouldn't want to play as Scythe because i believe that all those stories are meant to be fable lore. If they were to show us a flash back and we could control him for a little period of time that woudl be alright, but i would rather just know more about the past instead of playing the past.

Well, it's not confirmed that Scythe is William Black. It would stand to reason, but Lionhead could still change gears.

My understanding is that the Golden Age of the Old Kingdom ended when William Black was too weakened by the Sword and his encounters in the Void to continue his rule, so he put on his golden armor and a blue cloak and disappeared.

If Lionhead gets on board and develops the prequel concept I described, I'm sure it would remain within the Golden Age era before the Archon became Scythe.

archon was immortal and when he realized the mistake he made by creating will he built the spire used it and dissappeared. He later came back to help chicken chaser in his journey only because of Jack of Blades. Scythe cares little of the people of albion seeing as how he is an ancient hero and really has no ties to anyone.(also the sword he used to imprison jack and kill the queen and knight of blades was Sword of Aeons which originally belonged to Jack of Blades.)

It is confirmed that Scythe was AN Archon, but it's not for sure that he was THE Archon, William Black. I think it's likely that he was.

We don't know anything about William Black's parentage. His birth and upbringing were humble, but who's to say the first Will User wasn't a demi-god or something? What feats did he perform before he was strong enough to take on the Court? I'd like to see what the Fable Team could do game-wise with that era of Albion's history.

i think it would be better to be one of his decendants in the race for power, where average people hate you but there will be an abundance of boss battle if there are all those heroes. so in this game even the purest wouldnt be praised. maybe even meet the great heroes Avo and Skorm, how they were bitter rivals, and had warring clans. And through years of oral history and misconception this becomes a "religion". that would be an interesting story to experience indeed... indeed lol

william black is scythe, and it was him who invented/ discovered Will...thats why its named after him (go read tales of albion if ya don't believe me).

this sounds Exactly like lionheads plan, it had bosses, and like you said...being king afterwards, its a guess because with the current fable 3 news it seems like it is the logical choice, i mean why bother building this whole "touch" system and the king system if it wont be useful in any other games...i reckon fable 4 will be exactly this...
and please lion head don't change your plans just coz some one guessed what you are up too (or we will have another terminator salvation fiasco).

If there was a game based on the Old Kingdom where we got to fight the Balvorn, Dragons, Platinum Trolls (Archon's Battle Armour materials) and possibly the Fabled Sand Goose. The Old Kingdom was saisd to be the most advanced age of Albion at least what I think anyway so far. Imagion the equipment we could have in the game. We would get bows and plate armour again which a lot of people missed in Fable 2. Maybe more indepth storys or quests on Avo and Skorm like the war they had and you get to side with either one or maybe the Fire assassins could be part of another quest.
