reformat the hard drive

    For a while I reformat the computer and I took a backup of the game folder. But when I copied it back and start the game so my profile is not turned up but I managed to solve this by creating a new profile in the game, turn off the game and copy all the contents from my old profile to the new. Problems that now appeared was that my creature did not have any of the miracle it had learned before. This make me think that black and white save files on a other place then the game folder. I checked all the usual places as appdata and my documents but could not find it. It should be nice if you could tell me where these files are saved.

    B&W stored all creature related information (and I think some game progress) in the system registry. There is no real "savefile". I have to say sorry because if you have not made a backup of the registry entries, your old status is lost.

    There were some backup utilities in the past that worked quite well for archiving your game status. Dunno if you can still get them anywhere today.

    Everyone should boycott Ubisoft and their new Online DRM for PC games. This has gone too far in the reduction of the rights of users and I am sick of it! It is not made to fight piracy, but to control the customer.

    you say in the system registry could you be more specific were and what is the name of the backup program so i can avoid this in the future.

    No sorry, I think the strings should have been somewhere under LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lionhead\B&W, something with creature mind maybe. Tongue Tied [:S]

    The backup software had no specific name, B&W  savegame or profile backup I think.

    Kayssplace is a real G o o d [Good] and reliable source for all kind of B&W stuff. Wink [;)]
