    Need help with Fable II

Hi all, I'm new here.  Had some questions about Fable 2 and I figured this would be the best place to ask.  First of all, I should note that my 360 is not hooked up to the internet (no Xbox Live), which means I don't have any patches, updates, or anything of the sort.  As such, I have suffered a number of glitches, some of which I've found solutions to, but others have left me stumped.  Okay, here are a few of my problems:

Issue #1 - Bowerstone furniture store runs out of stock with 5 star economy -- actually found a solution to this one, either ruin the economy or kill the furniture seller, both seem to work (I suggest killing the seller, much less messy).  Which brings me to my second problem:

Issue #2 - Ruined economy -- on one of my designated "E v i l [Evil]" characters, I have managed to completely destroy both my Bowerstone and Oakfield economies (1 star on both).  I'd like to say it was completely by accident, but I was well aware that jacking up rents and prices 100%, vandalizing homes, stealing, enslaving citizens, and murdering half of the innocent townsfolk would *probably* lead to something like that.

My question is, now that I have managed to completely destroy the economy... how do I bring it back up to 5 stars?  Man cannot live on expired celery and shriveled carrots alone.  I've already dropped the rents and prices back down to 0%, tried working jobs, buying up everything that everyone is selling, and even making people like me *gag* -- which is quite difficult when the whole town runs from you in fear, by the way -- but without any success.  It seems my mere presence has been more toxic to the economy than AIG, Goldman Sachs, and Bernie Madoff combined, and nothing I've done to try to reverse the damage seems to help.  And yes, I have already tried federal bailouts and stimulus spending.

So, jokes aside, how do I repair a completely ruined Fable II economy?

Issue #3 - Broken doors and windows -- I've already seen where this one was asked before.  I don't really care about the doors and windows on the homes I own but rent out to the whiny, cowardly townsfolk, but I do want *my* homes to look nice.  Thing is, they weren't always *my* homes.  At one time it was easier just to break down the door, kill the family inside, and steal all of their stuff.  But I sleep in that bed now, and I'd kind of like a front door and glass in my window frame.  So far, no luck in getting it repaired (repairman said he'd be there between 9 and never).  Can't improve the economy, so I don't think the townsfolk are going to take it upon themselves to spruce the place up either.  I *would* try renting the home out to someone else -- except that I can't, because of...

Issue #4 - Can't sell, rent, or set home as marital property -- I was married once.  Looking back now, I can see it was a mistake.  50% of marriages end in divorce.  This one ended in death.  Had a nice family home in Bowerstone.  The b**** decided she was going to leave me, presumably taking half of my stuff with her.  Over your dead body, I told her.  She thought that was just a figure of speech.  As usual, she was wrong.

Problem is, the game -- or I should say, the *house* -- still thinks we're married.  Wants me to set a budget for my recently deceased ex.  The b**** is still greedy, even in death.  I told her, you can't take it with you, but she never listens.  Anyway, the house doesn't know she's dead.  So since it's set as my "family home" for my non-existent family, I cannot rent it out, sell it, put it into foreclosure, donate it to the Salvation Army, or anything else.  I can't kill the wife again, as much as I would like to, so there's really no way I can see to undo this conundrum.  How do I explain to the house that the woman of the house is no more?  I'd try to let it down gently, but somehow I don't think the house will miss her either.  I need it to understand that corpses don't require budgets -- aside from burial costs of course, which I already took care of courtesy of some hungry beetles.

Those are just a few of the glitches I've come across and need answers to.  Not to mention the unexplainable glitch that keeps me from getting the top score on the shooting range -- it must be a glitch, I'm an excellent shot *cough cough*!  Any help at all would be appreciated -- tips, suggestions, advice, therapy, whatever.

Thanks, and sorry for the long winded post.

Just lower the rents 100% and all the shops you buy. It should go slowly up to 5 stars. Smily [:)]

Re: Need help with Fable II

Man, that is going to seriously cut into my profit margin.  But I suppose it's probably necessary if I ever want to be more than a slum lord.

Arggh, worst part is that lowering rents and prices below the average will add to my purity *gag*.  The character is supposed to be E v i l [Evil] incarnate.  I worked hard to grow those horns and the glowing eyes.  I'm going to have to visit a lot of prostitutes and drink like a fish to counteract the purity I will accumulate.

Bad enough that my morality and purity went up after having a child.  Does it not even matter that my child is the antichrist?  I was happy to learn that children can be born with E v i l [Evil] as one of their qualities.  I'm so proud *sniff sniff*.  My little hellraiser.  His favorite expression is even the scary laugh.  Bad part is that I might have to start sacrificing mortals at the Temple of Shadows again, lest I start growing one of those pesky halos over my head.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not all E v i l [Evil].  I have G o o d [Good] characters too, and the economies in those games are sky-high.  But that got boring.  Wanted to have an E v i l [Evil] character to see what it was like to play as a total sociopath.  Nothing is quite so satisfying as slaughtering peasants who annoy, pester, or insult me.  Besides, having everyone in town love me gets irritating -- they have a tendency to block doorways when I try to leave a building, and they all follow me into my house uninvited.  Don't have to worry about that with an E v i l [Evil] character.  I can go wherever I want and everybody stays the hell out of my way.

Take a job and earn as much money as you can, once you hit around 100000 gold the town will get its five star marking.

Yes, it is exactly as boring as it sounds

Re: Need help with Fable II

Since this thread has been throughly dealt with, I figured I would use it as I need something the topic name implies.

Can we retrieve our ancestor's items from a PC version of Fable, and if so, how do I do that? I know there's probably a link somewhere that explains it all, but I've searched all I can be bothered to for now.

Oh, and while I'm at it, how do I get half the town to stop following me around? I don't even have the follow command on them, they just come wherever I am.

Get a ;fear augment  - but I am not sure the running and screaming is less annoying than too much adoration.

Looking over that thread, it doesn't look like we get our ancestor's items at all- just crap Lionhead felt like putting in there. Unless someone tells me we can actually use our Fable saves to transfer wealth and items to our Fable II game, the chest is for all reasons useless.

Now I just need to find armor that actually provides protection.. Unless there is none. Which would be a shame.

There is no armor in the game, however once you max out your toughness and get a few defensive augments like lucky charm, flame gift or barkskin (its actually really G o o d [Good] since you only scar when you die anyway) you will barely take damage as it is

Re: Need help with Fable II

Can you take your 360 to a friends house that has interenet and hook it up and get all the patches and updates? Sorry if this was already mentioned, but I have a friend that does not have internet at home so they bring over their 360 occasionally to hook up to mine and get their updates.
