Lion911Some rule changes can help a sport. And some can destroy a sport. I personally don't like how the owner of the NHL is trying to take fighting out of it all together. He can take out the dirty stuff but don't take simple things out like that, that help make the game.
Amen EL!
Bettman can kiss my ass before he bans fighting. Fighting is what makes hockey what it is, and I'm not trying to take credit or anything, but to me fighting is what makes hockey Canadian. Now, I know it's not strictly Canadian, but we are really the founding fathers of it (don't start lecturing me on how we didn't really invent it, i know the story, but we defined it really

Anyway, if they take fighting out of hockey they'll lose alot more fans than they would gain, and I'm willing to bet that's a fact. As far as the arguments lately, concerning head checks... it's ridiculous. Hitting is a part of the game, and I gaurantee you that nobdoy goes onto the ice with the thoughts "I'm going to elbow this poor S.O.B. right in the head this shift!" It's all a matter of chance, and variables. Size differential being one of them, surprise being another. A guy can't help it if someone is skating with their head down when they catch a pass coming over the blue line .. he is most likely going to be a little bit sore for a shift or more!
That's my 2 cents on that matter though .. overall, modifying the rules is one thing, changing them is another.
