I feel I made a bit of a mistake there, I'm not trying to discourage you from thinking outside of the box like that. As you said, one thing can lead to another and a bad idea can lead to a

one. I certainly don't mean to tell you to stop coming up with things, even if they sound totally crazy. Just emphesizing the 'eye on the prize' way of thinking behind it. If you stick to the 'true north' of 'is it fun?' you can't go wrong really, and taking a roundabout way of getting there only makes the path more enjoyable
As for your question: I'm a big fan of MMO games, even though I mostly stick to solo-gaming in them. (go figure) I like their constantly changing nature. Virtually no single player game can afford to continuously evolve after release, but MMO games can do that. If a single player game became like that, I might even pay a monthly subscription for it...
I don't consider myself anything but a casual gamer, and in most games I play I'm not even very

. I always try to ignore focussing on the exact numbers and stats, which doesn't help when playing MMORPGs, especially games like Eve Online. But I love them still
I'm also a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and have lost many hours on Final Fantasy 7. I guess getting 'lost' in a wonderous world is why I play games mostly. Not so much to win.
What kind of games do you like to play?
