I freaking hate how the media always takes little things from video games and blows them out propourtion and makes some brutal violence or a little bit of sex into some horrible thing that "we've never seen".

   at Fox.I mainly watch CBS, and our channel 11 whatever that is.
   Fox is totally Republican, and they sugar coat every mistake Bush makes.

I'm guessing you are American then, and America has always been very internally focussed in terms of news, they don't look at the outside world because they don't need to look at the outside world. I mean a lot of Americans have never left their state let alone gone abroad. But why would you bother when the country has everything you could ever need there anyway? It has lead to a lack of understanding of the wider world for a lot of every day Americans, either through naivity or ignorance, and this is reflected in the journalism that is put forward by the American news channels. They target the bulk of people, and the bulk of people are generally ignorant (it's the same in every country, not just America, I mean just look at the yobs of the UK ...).

News companies like the BBC look all around the world (we have a lot of ex-pats in a lot of places) so they have a broader view of news. If you just want the information then you need to go to reuters or bloomberg, but even then they have opinions.

You wont find news handed out without someone elses opinions added to it, the best you can hope for is that you find news that has a similar opinion you

but back to the topic at hand, Fox strike me as the Daily Star of American news, and as such they will just make stuff up and hope they get away with it!

We don't get BBC news where I live, which is why I look at it on the internet. Then if I'm interested in local news, I'll look at some different sites online and compare and contrast; usually I can get the whole picture then. I'm just tired of turning on the news and seeing what Paris Hilton or Britany Spears did today. I, for one, couldn't care less. I want to know what's actually going on in the country and in the world. For that, I have no choice but to turn to the internet.This way I can choose what I want to learn about, instead of being bombarded by pictures of some stuck up, rich brat crying while she's being taken to jail. As far as learning about what's going on in the rest of the world, I don't have much choice, but to look online and sites from around the world. Even on American "World News", they talk about nonsense that doesn't effect anyone and usually puts their slant on it. I just wand information, not someone's opinion of it. I'll come to my own conclusion, I don't want to have to sit and listen to some moron, who's afraid to do any real reporting because he may get fired. It's ridiculous that if I want to know about a war that my country is responsoble for, I can't even count on newscasters in my country to be honest. I have to turn to other country's to get the real deal on what's happeneing, because they are not allowed to report about fatatlities and such here. Nor can they show any images of the war, or coffins. They were even saying that deaths by car bombs, didn't count in the fatality rate. Nor did it count if they were killed as a result of friendly fire, or if they were shot in the back of the head, instead of the front. I guess cuz that can be construed as friendly fire, as well. It's insane to me. The statistics and information here is so skewed, that it's impossible to actually learn anything. God forbid, if my mother was a moron and saw the Fox news report on Mass Effect, she would never allow me to let my sister play it, and my sister would lose out on a wonderful experience. It's just insane to me that they waste their time reporting bulls*** when I'm sure that something that was actually importand happened in the world that day.

You should watch BBC News then as it isn't financed by anyone other than the tax payers.

I love this ideal that people have of the internet though, you say you can view many different news sources and come to your own conclusions, however where does that information come from in the first place? The initial story? 99.9% of the time every story on the internet originates from the same piece of information that has been traded, most of the traded information that forms news stories goes through either Bloomberg or Reuters. Just look at an info bar for Sky News and you will see one or the other as the source for all their breaking news.

If you want to be really unbiased and informed there is only one plaec where you should look then, and that is the information traders.

Although as you will no doubt point out that the information traders are also run by conservative right wing people, and therefore the cycle starts again, although this time you will notice that no where is it possible for you to get information about the big stories without touching one of these organisations.

The other major factor as to why you will always have these right wing neo-conservative people in charge of the big companies, and therefore in charge of the news, is because the left wing liberal people tend to not embrace the capitalist way of life and therefore shoot themselves in the foot in terms of actually being in a position where they are able to affect their views on the general public...

But if that's true, then online news become just as unreliable.

Truth is nobody forces you to listen to anything, and while it's not to instantly jump on anything you hear on TV or read anywhere in the media, buying to much into conspiracy theories isn't helping.

However, it's an open secret that the Fox channel is useful for little more than entertainment, and you gotta admit, this thread proves that they deliver.

yeah, that's my point. Online, I have the option of where I decide to find my news. Ordinarily, if I find something that I need to know about, I will visit a few sites and find out what they all have to say. At least online, I have the choice of being snowed, if that's what I choose, instead of being fored to listen to a bunch of neo-con nonsense. This is just another reason that I get my news on the internet. These 'journalists' should be ashamed of themselves. What happened to the days of responsible journalism? You know, where you actually have to do research and come to an informed conclusion? How can you possibly make any kind of comment about a game you never played? I don't understand how they don't realize how incredibly stupid they look. It is for this reason that Fox news is such a joke. If they really cared about their kids, then they would be making sure that they weren't playing the game. "It's just so hard..." What kind of nonsense is that? If it's too hard, don't have kids. No one has ever said having kids is easy. It's part of your job as a parent to pay attention to your kids. It's not violence in video games that is making our kids crazy, it's violence in the home. It's lack of discipline and neglect on parent's parts. If you can't find the time to check on your children, then you shouldn't be allowed to have them.

I have a 16 y.o. sister that still lives at home (I'm 27) and I got her into gaming when she was really young. And my parents made sure to find out about the games I was playing before I let her at them. I'll be the first to admit, some things I was playing that were fine for my age then, were not okay for her. They also keep their computer in the dining room, in their site and have made an agreement that if she wants to be online or chat, that they have the right to look over her shoulder and see what she is doing and writing. They oftentimes make her scroll up in her chat box and read everything that is written. She is also not allowed to use chatspeak, except with well known terms like LOL and such. That, my friends, is what responsible parenting is about. Perhaps these undercover sluts should have thought about all it takes to care for a kid before they opened their legs. Or maybe they're just pissed that characters in video games are getting more action than they are.

Well, just to think, one day, they will invent a big room that is actually filled with A.I on the outside of a certain wall of some sort lets just say. You start it up, and then a hollographic yet touchable menu pops up, you can pretty much go on from there, if you've seen Futurama, some scientists are already taking that idea into consideration. I mean, look at the new brain helmet they invented this year, its not even out yet, but you attatch it to your head, and it reads your brain waves and transmits them into the game copying every command that you throw to it.

We are growing even closer to technology as we speak.

That's why this *** is on Faux Newz. I mean Fox News. They have never even played the game? You are not able to choose what to do in the sex! These guys are the ones who have to have their heads examined. I hate to see what they make of Prototype. Making men seem greedy "you play as a man and the man chooses who to have sex with and how many women he has and what to do with them" BULLSHIT! This isn't a Japanese hentai game! Violence? There is sooooo little violence in Mass effect. When you shoot the people, they dissapear! That is like calling centipede AO! I could go on forever about Fox News and the *** that they put out, but it is late and I need to get to bed.
