I have the same problem with the stars.

Can someone tell me how i can see the folder "facility" in my data folder?

Someone here said i need to set my windows explorer to view all files and folders.. how can i do this thing?

By the way, sorry for my lame english i'm not from USA

You will only have the textures folder in your data directory if you have created it yourself, and/or downloaded any mods for the game (props or costumes).

Not sure about the facility folder as my current install has one (and am damned sure I didn't install any mods for the tycoon portion of the game, so not sure where this came from ).

Make sure you have your windows explorer set to view all files and folders (including hidden). You should also see a textures folder (this is where all your costumes, makeup, props and sets are stored)

Ok im trying to do this but even when i have it set to Show Hidden Files i still dont have a facility folder or textures... is it because im running Stunts and Effects?

To get extra people in every line, you can modify the facility_gatehouse, facility_crew, facility_research, facility_stage and facility_stunt files. They are located in lionheadstudios/themovies/data/facility. If you know what you are doing, there is a line near the bottom that sets the number of available people. You can set this number at any you want, 10, 20 ,30, 100, but the higher the number, the longer the game takes to load. (There are mods out there to do this but it just as easy to do it yourself. Search 8eyedbaby and dcmf for the mods if you really want them.) This is the only way to get more people in line at the initial startup. Once your studio is up and running, the people will show up randomly for jobs throughout your career.

As far as the dealing with the moods of the actors, you only have to worry about that in the tycoon mide. In sandbox mode, you can turn off behavior when you set a new studio up. Most of us use sandbox mode with the instant movie making option on so it doesn't take 30-100 game years to make a long movie.

Getting stars from other studios to show up in your stage school line is random. It doesn't matter if you are #1 the entire career or up and down, stars only appear randomly. I have had 20 stars show up from other studios in one tycoon go through and then the next only get 2 or 3.

I also rely on starmaker with the help of castingcouch to make all my featured stars.

For those who aren't very with code but still want more people, how do we get to the file that needs to be modified and what kind of parameters should we set, if say we don't want eighty, but also feel that single digit employment isn't reflective of a major studio either.

Would a similar mod work with the staff/ crew/ research buildings as well?

I was looking for information on this but couldn't find any, sorry for beating what I'm sure is a dead horse.

I can't see your problem with Uber's assistance.

He, like most of us make movies to show to the community, so the traits of an actor is unimportant, the looks are just about the only important thing if your making movies for community members, even then it is not a problem thanks to outside editing.

I am guessing you want to just play Tycoon mode (story mode) and have fun there; but Uber's advice is great for someone that wants to make a big movie for the community.

Actually I should probably ammend the title to read Not enough People, period. I got to the point where I had to drag people from the cast & crew line up kicking and screaming into becoming janitors and extras, and now I'm out of even those. It's not like I have that many staff - just barely enough for each task. I could easily afford to hire more given their ridiculously low wages.

... and I'm really sick of getting penalized on my movies because the non-existent "novelty" value of my top stars. It's just one of those variables in the game that I seemingly have no control over and the rule regarding them are way too ambiguous. It makes producing a prestige picture for awards damn near impossible, and then to add insult to injuries I get a hit to my studio rating because I "haven't won many awards". No, DUH, I haven't won ANY.

Well, I personally think it's retarded. First it defeats the purpose of raising your studio's reputation (ie. you're supposedly able to attract bigger stars from others studios with a bigger rep). Second, the star maker pretty much forces you to create perfect clones that don't have any personality or quirks, unless you go out of your way to sabotage yourself. It would have been better if the stats they give you were more balanced, but they're not, and even then it would make the game way too easy.

I LIKE having to deal with stars that have their own flaws and imperfections. Forcing players to choose between using the same stars over and over until you retire them, or copping out and mass produce them on demand is just an dumb idea.

It seems like no matter how successful my studio is, I can't seem to attract any new stars. Currently I'm No. 2 and it's around 1930 and I've had all of two new stars after the initial 6 that I had in my pool. What's annoying is if I start a new game I'll sometimes get as many as 10 before I have to wait for more, other times I get much less. It's all too random. You would think it'd be easier finding someone to pay 10k a year for doing next to nothing.

The starmaker is too broken to even consider. There ought to be a random star generate button if they're just going to let just create as many stars as we want anyways.
