What you suggest here is crazy, it has TOTALLY open areas that you can go everywhere in, it is like saying Oblivion is libear because you have coriddors in dungeons

As I said in my last post, Bowerlake and Oakfield are close to open, they still have some invisible walls in certain spots. The other regions are the ones that are heavy on the paths. If the path is lined with rocks you can't climb over the rocks, most cliffs can't be jumped off of, etc. Personally I would have been quite happy with every region having the freedom that Bowerlake and Oakfield do, but they are the only two regions that really grant you freedom to go in (almost) any direction you want.

However no region in the game is truely open. If you see a cliff without a pool of water below it you're not allowed to jump to your death, you can't jump over any object at will, etc. Whether or not that is a thing, the restriction of movement in many of the regions exists.

nasos_333:

I can argue that AC had NO combat system, was a joke, and how on earth do you compare a combat system that offers zero freedom in movement and is totally akward, with no magic or guns or anythin to Fable 2 system, which is hands down the best real time combat system in a game ever ?

Hmm.. how so? You had attacks, counter attacks, combos, various fighting styles with different weapons, blocks, ranged weapons (throwing knifes in AC) just like you do in Fable 2. The two combat systems have a lot of similarities, AC didn't have magic but it's not in a high fantasy setting.

I don't really see how freedom of movement in combat is better in Fable 2 than AC. You have to stand still to cast, stand still to zoom in with ranged, melee is the only one that really lets you move.

Both combat systems have pros and cons, I just think AC did a better job of the things that they had in common (melee combat).

nasos_333:

I do troll hunting now, after 100+ hours in the game, with zero hunting, but only treasure, key, item and gargoyle hunting. Of course you are right, i chose to play it 100+ hours, i could play it 15 and only once, and miss 90% of the game, but given it is so varied and the world is changing, i had zero dull moments in every single second of those 100 hours, and the troll hunting now is REALLY fun, just love it

I don't doubt that you can extend the game to hundreds of hours if you want to, and I'm happy for you that you are enjoying it enough to do so.

I have to go with my own estimation of time for content though, I did every quest I could find, bought every piece of property, maxed every skill except for 3 will powers, got a 5-star rating in a profession, hunted down most of the gargoyles, and about 3/4 of the silver keys, had 2 families, and it took me about 20 hours.

Given a few more hours I probably could have finished the gargoyles and silver keys, I kind of ran out of motivation once I found out the chest treasure wasn't so great.

While you can play it for hundreds of hours, hundreds of hours of content isn't in the game.

nasos_333:

While in games like Oblivon had 20 hours of fun, and 100 hours of dull moments, with same generic quests, dungeons, empty wilderness etc

I agree, but many people liked it so I'm not going to say too much about Oblivion.

nasos_333:

Then, if you have played it, you know that in oakfield you can move everywhere, and you will hopefull stp the lies

Please refer to my first comment.
Re: PC version of Fable 2 speculated for February by some German website

nasos_333:

Sam:

Confirmed for PC?
It is dynamic and amazing, given there is nothing on the market even remotly touching the fun real time combat in Fable 2, i do not see why you complain, it is the best we get, i am happy with that

I did 45-50 hours per playthrough, now with the troll hunting i am in 100+ hours, and with the expansion will go even further ahead, the game is huge

But the first ever comment you made about paths is wrong and opinion, it is noones fault that you chose to move in a path, the worrd is fully explorable, i can jump from most bridges, run up the mountain hill in the lake and overlook the world, where i can later go down to and explore etc, the game is not on paths at all as you suggested, if you have played the game that is

Sorry, but i feel that you have not really played the game

There isn't a fully 3D pathless world, the only regions that come close to that are Bowerlake and Oakfield. Most of the regions restrict you to paths, the paths are a little bigger now and have more open area but they are still boxed in.

Some might argue that Assassin's Creed had better real-time combat, it was basically the same rhythm based idea but I think the execution was a little better. It's not so much of a complaint as it is an observation, the environmental combat isn't how they said it would be and it lacked moves.

Right, but you basically proved my point. You spent time making your own fun, Troll hunting and such. You can do that with any game, if your looking for 75-100 hours of content you won't find it.

I have played the game, you can check my gamercard if you need proof.

Re: PC version of Fable 2 speculated for February by some German website

I really hope a PC version of Fable II will come out soon...

With new interface, online crossplatform, graphic improvements and MODing posibilities.

It would be sooo great!!
Re: PC version of Fable 2 Rumored for February, should we buy the DL content or wait ?

fablier:

nasos_333:

You have to remember something, that if you think a game is average, does not mean everyone else thinks the same too

I would grade Fable 2 a 10/10 just because it has the winter lodge or the sister world, games are SOOOOO predictable and emotionless these days, their art generic

Fable 2 is the very definition of unique and detailed art and full of emotion, it is unique in a huge huge way for the generic stuff we are served in gaming these days

If it was a bit more complex and had some bosses/challenges, would be the perfect game, but as it is now is the best experience i had in gaming, Zelda OOT and WW come soon after Fable 2 in my best games of all time list, and that's it, everything else is standard comparing

Also the scores come from those that invested in the game and the low from those that as you say played only strictly the story, so your argument only makes Fable 2 look better

Uh no, many of the lower scores have come from reviewers who spent a lot of time playing it. For example, IGN gave it a review score below the metascore and they did at least 2 complete playthroughs. So you see, it makes Fable 2 look worse.

I really don't care if people are enjoying it or not, opinions only mean so much, and I`m not trying to change people`s opinions.

Whether or not you enjoy it:

- the world is still restrictive, largely path based.

Sorry, you have to play the game first, the game is not on a path, there are paths alright, but you can jump to wilderness from most, and explore a fully pathless 3D world, but you have to play the game first

- melee combat is decent but lacks moves, it is nowhere near as dynamic and impressive as it was in Peter's E3 07 demo. Will powers are but switching between spells mid-battle is a problem.

It is dynamic and amazing, given there is nothing on the market even remotly touching the fun real time combat in Fable 2, i do not see why you complain, it is the best we get, i am happy with that

- the game doesn't have much content, Peter said the main storyline would be 15-20 hours if you just focused on that and 75-100 hours if you did all the side-quests/jobs/etc. Sadly this isn't close to true, your looking at about 25-30 hours to do everything per playthrough. You can artifically extend the game time if you want by grinding but that isn't content.

I did 45-50 hours per playthrough, now with the troll hunting i am in 100+ hours, and with the expansion will go even further ahead, the game is huge

- The and alignments don't make as big of an impact as they should. The villagers react in basically the same way as they did in Fable 1, there are fewer / moral choices than in Fable 1, the storyline is the same regardless of your / morality.

I agree, but the transformation is more evident, and NPC react a bit better

- Many of the enemies are poorly done. Normally I wouldn't say this from an objective point of view but I think it's safe to say for Fable 2. How many balvarines ran up to you, you rolled away, they just stood there and did their claw combo in thin air? (happens to me almost everytime I fight one) Hobbes that run away after you kill the biggest one?

Enemies are fine for me, and Hobbes running is unique, as Fable 2 is, i love it, the real problem is that there are few enemy types and no huge monster bosses

- On top of these is the fact that many people have game breaking bugs. Games are not perfect and you usually see some bugs, but having so many severe bugs that some people can't even play is bad.

Never came across one, after 100+ hours, and anyway a fix is coming

I might be able to come up with a few more but they would be bordering on opinion and I want to keep these objective. These are a few things that you can't debate because they are not really opinion based. If you look at the game for what it really is, without including your opinions, you can see it has some issues.

Re: PC version of Fable 2 Rumored for February, should we buy the DL content or wait ?

nasos_333:

You have to remember something, that if you think a game is average, does not mean everyone else thinks the same too
