Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

you can use imageshack.com to upload your images, and you don't need to put them into a zip file, although there is an option to do so. The above post is a great way to start this thread, thankyou kirkblitz, maybe someone knows how to fix the problem.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

(I couldnt edit the above post) The above bug is partly solved for those who encounter it. The solution to the bug is to go into your black and white 2 folder. Then find some sort of config or settings file. If it is a text file then go into it and change the settings from there, you will know what to set them at as they will be numbered (0 being lowest, 3 being highest/ 0 being off, 1 being on....something like that). If the setup file is a .dll or another file extension, then change the file extension to .txt and edit it with a text program like world or notepad, once you are done, save it and change the file extension to what it was before. I will ask for details as to what file to edit, and i will re-edit this post with a better description as i do not yet own the game and have no idea where the config file is. However, there is probably some other reason for settings only being allowed to be at low, this is just a way to hack the config file and override whatever the game detects your settings as.

OMG - the game is a few hours old, and people are being told they need to hack a config file to be able to alter the most basic of graphics problems!!

Your card isn't a top end card - you can have grass (vegitation) on the low setting, but not high. As I've said in your other thread about this - you can put the vegitation onto the low setting. EDIT: I really wouldn't change your config - it auto detects what you'll should be able to run with your gfx card. In kirkblitz's case it should have put the vegitation on the low setting automatically, when the high isn't available.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

No game has ever auto detected my system to the correct settings, for example, Far Cry always puts my settings on lowest when i do auto detect, when i do auto detect with any other game i get the same problem, so that is why this auto detect system is really annoying for some people as the game can run alot faster than what the game thinks the system can. And please read the rules Seligkram I dont want this thread to be just another one of those threads below, this thread is to help lionhead detect bugs and for people to look at ways in which to fix problems if they are having any. So please, Do not flame or whinge, or try and start general conversation. once again and for all who decide to post here. READ THE RULES

Haha Kirk, I'm just gonna GUESS here and say that you can't up your settings because your card is about 4 years old. In case you arent aware that is worse than a GeForce4.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

Was there an error with the code? I have just been lookign around on the internet and it seems that this problem occurs not only with games, but printers and other applications? I just got a picture of the error screen then from another problem, but could you please take a screenshot and put it on imageshack.com then send the link to the picture here so that we can see what type of error it is. I am reading something about VBscript (visual basic script) being a cause of this error Please go to this site and tell me if it what you are seeing, i havent read it all yet but it has a list of error code's for you to look at and identify. http://computerperformance.co.uk/Logon/code/code_8007007B.htm I hope that helps, as soon as i find something useful i will post it Wink [;)] And what is you operating system, is it windows XP? if so then what service pack are you using.

It's something to do with installshield & windows in this case, but it appears that quite a few things can trigger the same message.

Thanks for the reply, Is there anything I can do to work around this problem? Cheers [Edit] hi Natace thanks for the suggestion, the problem is there is no error code at all, just a window popup stating the error. Oh I forgot to add, I'm using windows XP SP2.
heh~ I'm actually getting rather sick of seeing the ATI girl (which is the last screen of the installation).
-Ethanas

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

If you google it, there are lotsa suggestions - like copying everything into the dir your installing it too. Check the disc isn't scratched or anything like that.

Hi The Bag, I'm not too sure if I get what you mean by copying everything into the dir. But I'll google it anyway. Thanks. -Ethanas

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

try this. You have 4 disks or 1 DVD am i correct? You could try copying everything from the disks onto your hard drive into one folder and in that folder have another 4 folders (if u have the CD version). Then install from the disk 1 setup.exe. Whilst installing, if it asks for "please insert disk 1/2/3/4" and it has a browse button, then browse to the seperate folders of where the disks are located. So you should have One folder on your desktop called "Black and White 2" and inside that, place another 4 folders named "Disk 1", "disk 2, "disk 3", "disk 4", and the files from the disks placed accordingly into the folders. So if you get asked to "please Insert disk 2" then click on browse, then point the path to where the "disk 2" folder is on your desktop. Then go through until the end of the installation. I'm not sure if you can even get to the start of the installation, please provide us with more details. Such as: What you do before this error occurs.

    Re: Bug/Glitch Reporting thread.

Ok I did what you said Natace but still no dice. Strange thing is installshield has always worked on this pc, but somehow it refused to work for this game. I always get the same error message after the installation reached 100%. I'm really at my wits end now. Heh~ I've a nagging feeling its time to reformate my pc. But I really want to keep this as a last resort. Thanks again for your help Natace.
