the last level of BOTG you return to your homeland. and i just realised that the homeland bears absolutly no resemblance to the land you were "born" in in the first Black and White. i was quite looking forward to going back and seeing it in ramped up graphics and whatnot

No, it's the Greek homeland from BW2 (land 2) instead. If you want to see the original homeland, get the Threat of The Creed mod, by Daxter06, from Kayssplace, and install that.

Looks like I'm back.

It was the second Japanese land. The only difference is there's now a land bridge between your old city and what was once the Japanese one, and that's from the volcano.

Actually, that IS the greek homeland from B&W2,
but it's been altered and partially destroyed by the aztec volcanoes.

Download the "BW2 Land 2 Sandbox" map from kayssplace, and compare it to
the final level of BOTG. You'll see that it is indeed the same land, but it's been
altered a bit.

For example, the ground on which the Aztec capital is built on, is cooled-down lava,
erupted from the volcanoes that destroyed the original greek capital.
You can see three of the volcanoes still remaining on the land (not active, though).

The third volcano must've been summoned after the player left the land.
The aztec city located right of the aztec capital ( seen from the front) is located
just where we saw the praying woman and the huge aztec army in the land's intro in BW2.
