    The Movies Editor v1.0 Released

Two years after the release of The Movies and I decided it was time to finish something that was started a long time ago.

The Movies Editor (or ngMED apparently)

It has been released, or at least 1.0 has anyway. Hurrah.

    What does it do?

The Movies Editor allows the common mortal to make their own sets/costumes/props by editing the existing ones found in the game.

No more do you need to be an "advanced" user to do these things because The Movies Editor handles the gribbly things for you.

    Who is it for?

    The casual user, You.

This makes a change from the normal direction of trying to push for new functionality, constantly pushing the technical boundaries as far as we can whilst leaving everyone else behind.

The idea behind this software is to put the control back in the hands of those who don't have the time/ability to create new resources and free up some time for those at the top of the technical ladder to keep pushing into the future.

    Where can I get it?

You can find the latest build here

You can find the documentation here

Where can I get technical support?

You can find technical support over at the forums at DCMF.

Please do NOT post help questions here, I can not guarantee they will be responded to. Support should take place on the modding fan-sites - not the official forums.

    What are the future plans?

Now the ground-work has finally been done, the following plans are in-place.

    • Open up the API so other programmers can extend MED through plug-ins
    • Finally write that damned scene editor that people have been asking for

It doesn't work how I expect it to

Then head over to DCMF and  tell us how you expect it to work.

I don't play The Movies and I don't mod. I only write code. It's not entirely unreasonable for me to not quite understand what people want. Only through communication can we make this thing what people want.

    Epilogue

In the immortal words of Mark Andrews, "Have fun!" Smily [:)]

    The Short Version

And about damned time I say.

The latest build can be found  here.
The documentation can be found here.

The thread over on the official forums can be found here.

The thread for bug reports can be found here.
The thread for feature requests can be found here.

Thank you. This project has to be a huge effort and I (and I am sure the community as well) thank you for taking your time and effort to make this.

[Ethan Reynolds and the Relic of Time] is being reworked.

I've been using this for the past week and a half, breaking things so Dero can fix them.  It's an amazing piece of work.

If you have any interest in giving your movie an unique look pretty easily, get this program.  Hey, it's helping me make my new project look like I have half a brain!

If I ever actually physically make a movie again (which may be soon Surprise [:O] ) then this is a must have. Gonna play round with it in a bit and see exactly what I can do with it.

This is an amazing tool. Very easy to use. Being a visual editor really makes it easy. You can see what you're working on as you're making it. A gret program Dero, thanks for releasing it.

    Hahahahahaahaha.

    AHHAHAAHAAAa.

Actually, I had an e-mail from Feral Interactive a year or so ago asking if they could port it over, to which I said yes.

I think they got scared when they realised it was all written in .NET though.

     Hi Dero,

G o o d [Good] to see you kicking around here again, I just stumbled back this way myself too. I seem to have G o o d [Good] timing with the release of all these new tools. Thank you. I just may find my way again and get these unfinished projects done....I will work on getting up to speed so maybe I could be of some use again.

Thank you for doing this Dero! Smily [:)]

I will definitely try this out - so far I have kept well away from anything to do with modding, just installed all the great things others have been making.... now lets see if I can do it... Nervous [:nervous:]
