    Weapon Differences

    The XBOX page at: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/f/fable/strategy9.htm

says this about weapons, "The Obsidian Hammer does more damage than the Obsidian Katana, but the Katana is much faster, so you react much more quickly when an enemy lets down his guard....Nothing takes out a horde of Hobbes faster than a greathammer (unless it’s a master hammer)!"

So, even though the game says an Obsidian Greatsword will do more damage than the Obsidian Greathammer, is it true that the Greathammer does more damage than the Greatsword in certain situations or against certain enemies?  I thought that all heavy weapons would be pretty much equivalent, but the XBOX site seems pretty clear that the greathammer is the way to go, despite a lower damage score.  I just was not sure if this was empty rhetoric or if there really is a difference between the weapons that is not reflected in the heavy/light and damage descriptors.

    Thanks!

    Re: Weapon Differences

It depends. You've got to experiment for yourself. I think speed in my opinion plays a critical role with weapons. For example, a heavy weapon might do 500 damage in one strike, but if a light weapon strikes three times in the time that it takes the heavy weapon to do one strike and deals 200 damage each strike, then it does 600 damage in total - at the end it deals more damage. This is why I use Avo's Tears, because in the end it deals more damage than most heavy weapons, because it strikes quickly. You should have a look at our Best Weapons thread for more info, here is the link: http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/2830549.aspx Smily [:)]

    Re: Weapon Differences

I have so far compared the greathammer with the greatsword, and in my opinion, the article on Microsoft was wrong.  The Hobbes in Hobbe cave seemed to block the hammer much more easily than the sword.  Also, the sword seeemd to have longer reach and greater arc in its swings.  I completely understand about the difference between weapons G o o d [Good] for enemies in groups and enemies that are individual.  I will try one more experiment with the obsidian katana and see how well I can attack groups.

I never use any 2 handed weapons I stick to the one handed sword and the bow and works out fine with me.

Same here FearTheLiving. I use light weapons and bows too. It's much quicker and in the end more damage - plus, I don't have time to wait until I can take another swing from a heavy sword or a shot from a crossbow - it takes to long and I need my enemies taken out quick - especially those minions, they're fast. Re: Weapon Differences

In the end my weapon choice always comes down to character and looks.

All in all the Master Greathammer is my favourite.

    Re: Weapon Differences

Hmm...I never thought of it like that, but now that I do, I guess my weapon suites my character fine, because I always play a G o o d [Good] character and my favourite weapon is Avo's Tear - which is a G o o d [Good] weapon. Also it's my favourite because of the following:

    1) It's the best light weapon in my opinion, despite it's size - which I like - and light weapons are great, because they're quick. And it's also a beautiful weapon.

    2) I'm a sucker for swords. I do and always will use a sword. I never really liked any other weapon, the sword has always been my favourite.

Although, there is one thing. While I do like it that The Sword of Aeons had it's damage reduced in Fable: TLC to match that of Avo's Tear, I think that it should have stayed more powerful, because it was supposed to be more powerful and support the story. Tongue Tied [:S]
