    LOADING...

the worst thing from the last game was all the loading which needed to happen every time you changed "maps" i will be very dissapointed if they use the same thing, any insight?

    Re: LOADING...

It's a necessary E v i l [Evil] in any large-scale game. I'm sure they'll try to reduce the loading time as much as possible, but at the end of it all, there's really no way around it.

I do kind of like the loading times, though. It gives me a chance to go to the bathroom. (Without them I've been known to just sit and stay playing for several hours while thinking 'ugh I really have to go!)

    Re: LOADING...

Well, reminders for bathroom breaks are great, but I myself am not a big fan of loading screens.

But keep in mind, Fable was on the Xbox, and the Xbox generally had long loading times.

Now we have moved on to the 360, which has loading screens, but they aren't nearly as long or annoying. So I am not that worried.

thats right its the 360 they should be thinking of ways to make loading fast like why cant loading be done durring a "cut scene" which PM says there will be none of

III Things I want in Fable III:
More Magic in the World and Plot.
More diverse people in every aspect.
    More Abilities in general; skill/strength/will.

    Re: LOADING...

A way around it would be to make all loading at the beginning, which GTAIV does and that will probably work. But this game I bet is hugers than that so my require minor loading. Probably have to install the game as well.

    Re: LOADING...

Also look at how Mass Effect loads the zones, it pauses tops 5-7 seconds (if the 360 aare kinda warm). On a normal run barely 1 second with a text saying "loading" at the lower part of the screen. Now I would like to see that a reality in Fable 2 too. And dont come with copyright spam on that one, cause such things are universial for many games these days included GTA4 and Gears of War etc. I just hated those laoding screens in Fable, made me feel the game was anti-dynamic.

I doubt there will be as many loading screens, however I am expecting them to be longer since the world is way bigger.

    Re: LOADING...

they need to figure out something for that. maybe if they made it so that as you approach a area that has to load before you enter, they should make it load 50% as you approach and after entering the area load the other 50%

    Re: LOADING...

It won't be that bad. Take GTA VI for example its a big area and it takes no loading and I believe that GTA VI uses bloom, real time day/night, real time shadows etc. and runs perfectly.

It doesnt matter if its a bigger world, its much much much bigger and better hardware than we had before. The loading times will be a fraction of what they were for the first games.

Its like comparing trying to ply a 3d game on a computer for 1995 and playing a much more advanced game today. Top of the line games today played on top of the line computers can take only seconds to load. But back in the day, it would have taken you 10X the time to load a game that is probablu 1/500th the size as some of the games out there today.

GTA 4 is disappointing its random and not like a real world at all a real world is predictable not random also currently GTA 4 loading sucks the cut scenes took way to long to load (slightly) and their multiplay Fuuks up all the time "im sorry you've been disconnected we will return you to single player"

The loading screen times for the original Fable on the xbox and The Lost Chapters on the 360 elite were the same, were they not?...

They were. In fact, I almost found them to be even longer. I may be wrong though.

But that isn't because the 360 couldn't have ran Fable faster, it is because Fable wasn't designed for the 360. The software was designed for the lesser original Xbox hardware. So even though it was brought up to the more sufficient hardware, the Xbox 360, the software was exactly the same. If they were to actually remake the entire Fable game for the 360 and leave everything exactly as it is, it would have very very short loading times.

Technology is beautiful, especially the advancement of it.

    Re: LOADING...

i have a feeling its still going to have loading times and still going to have different little stages or parts of the world like fable 1, but not so little, i mean, did you see the gdc demo, that little trip he took was already way bigger than any places you were in when playing fable 1.

Yes the best thing about loading was a chance to go take care of business and just to have a break. We all know F1 was like visual crack. so with F2 if there wasnt loading id prolly zone into it so bad id look like golum, atleast for the first 3 weeks...

    Re: LOADING...

i think LH will do everything they can to eliminate loading screens in the middle of the game because they seem to realize that a loading screen can really take away from how (for lack of better words) into the game you become... so they may do something similar to GTA4 like give you a few screenshots to look at maybe some combat hints or backstory and then set you free... and when switching regions maybe theres just an animation or something instead of a loading screen

this is so important im going to sign it in all capital letters its going to say ADAM WEST
thats what its gonna say you'll see

    what i don't understand is:

why make another thread about something like this when we have had no new information. so many loading threads have been made and until we get new info on loading, i don't see the point in another one.

opinion is obvious. everyone wants as little loading time as possible, end of.

    captain

(i guess by making this post i'm part of the problem, so i won't post it, but i want me feelings to be know-dilemmna!)

I was talking about the World not storyline nor Multiplayer. So, actually I don't even remember me even mentioning either of the things you discuss. But lets now carry on.. And the point of my post was to tell people big world or not new hardware can run it more better.

What is that loading actually does i mean behind the scenes? This might be off topic is it the code compiling? or is it something different?

It is used to "load" the code/objects/landscapes.
