There was a thread like this a long time ago, but I'm afraid it was a REALLY LONG time ago, and has sunken to the depths of the forums. However, I thought it was a fun thread for everyone and needed to be brought back.

Anywho, the idea of this thread is simple, take a TMO director (or directors) and compare them to a real life director. For example:

Alex Bradley - George Lucas

(Alex's effects are truly groundbreaking in the world of TMO, like Lucas's effects once were.)

postmodernchuck - jean luc godard
arguable the best director in they categorie(real/tmo) but a lot people think they are. Plus their films are complexe and you just feel the love for film in each and every of their pieces.

well that´s what comes to my mind at the moment. I´m very interested in what the rest of tmo will come up with. =)

and really honestly don't feel like looking, and really don't really know who to compare them too. But it is one of the best films on TMO,TMU and many real films. With all the action, ghasp moments and the wonderful use of colors.

The OP made "In the Cover of Darkness" for my 2nd Annual LNEYME, and won! Not just an amazing comp entry, but an amazing TMO film in general.

I personally see A_N_D as Chris Nolan.

I see it this way because A_N_D's films are usually filled with unique story and have a certain dark essence about them, which is something shared with Chris Nolan.

I seem to remember somebody comparing Dulci to Sophie Copola back on the old thread.

it's just a shame I don't release enough to really have a particular directing style... and don't watch enough movies (TMO or Hollywood) to be able to make any real comparisons... so technically I shouldn't be here in this thread here...

I've been finding it hard as well.

I also would compare YamiMarik to Ridley Scott. Yami made a horror movie back in his beginning (like Alien), and is now making a gangster film (like American Gangster).

Kind of a cheesy comparison, but hey!

It's always difficult to compare directors here to famous directors, as we're all original directors in our own right! I'll have to think about this one

It's slightly difficult in different aspects to compare. Many TMOers makes a wide range of movies from sci-fi to romance or action to comedy. It's that difficult, I don't think you can compare, unless you compare the styles of the directors.

When I was watching the recent movies from thebiz, I could easily compare it to Quentin Tarantino. This is due to having the same wierd effect in movies.

Like I said, it is very difficult and in the meantime, thats all I can compare. I could actually compare my directing to Donald Duck - is he a director?

oooh this is a tough and tricky one because of the multitude of genres that TMO directors cover. There is just too much versatility to pin down a true comparison.

However, if I had to think off the bat, I'd go for the following for my comparions.

I would say that the similarities lie in their dark and stylish portraits of the human experience with such films like;

• Panic Room

I would say the similarities lie in their innovative action and sci-fi films for 'cameron' and the comedic themes and stories for 'zucker's films.

Not sure of James Cameron....

Its extremely tough to compare directors to TMO/TMUers...

 

This is strange and a lot of people will disagree with this, but I compare thebiz to the great Tim Burton....Their movies are quite odd and mysterious, but entertaining and fun to watch..
