    Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

Upon finally watching this video, **which includes video of Oakvale and gameplay within which some may consider spoilers**:

    http://www.g4tv.com/e32008/videos/26919/Hands_On_Fable_2.html

I heard something interesting. At around 6:20 in the video the guy talking is talking about XBL co-op and the orbs and he says "it's a unique way to meet people". I was under the impression the orbs were only visual representations of the people on your friends list.

Now I feel like I'm over analyzing what he said so does anyone have in information to clarify? Possibly some input from a dev? That'd be great.

Hmm interesting, i still think it would be crazy to have everybody (even regional) show up in your game, too many purple orbs, but I guess we're just gonna have to wait till find out

If it's not set by default to only show your friends, I hope there's a filter or a setting to where you can make it that way. It'd be crazy if it showed everyone who was online, or even... 1/4th of the people online. I doubt that would be the setting. It'd just be dumb. You wouldn't even be able to see where you were going, it'd be so purple.

Re: Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

Well my idea is that it would only branch out from friends partially, like the friends of your friends or your friends and the people on your recent players list. But no more than that.

But I have no idea which is why I'm looking for input from the community! (And hopefully a dev)

I remember hearing somewhere that the orbs were'nt exclusive to your friends list, but could also appear for people who are near your location.

As in your location in the game or your physical location? Actually it doesn't matter because either way that would be way too many orbs especially if you were oh say in a town like bowerstone or living in new york or something. I hope that isn't the case.

I guess that could be OK. Only people who were close to your city. But on the other hand, I don't care if they're online. The people who are on my friend's list are people who I like enough to keep on there, people who I know are fun to play with. The people who are floating around could be jerks. But on the other other hand, you don't have to join their games, or ask them to join yours.

It might be a cool way to meet people, if you want to of course. Obviously you both like the same type of games if they're playing Fable II as well. Smily [:)]

It would be weird to see purple orbs following you, like where ever you go. I'd probably freak out and run off.

Re: Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

I'm thinking I wouldn't want anyone in my game unless I knew them personally anyways. I know there is the safety and all that, but what if I invite you into my world and you start farting on the girl I'm trying to get to like me or something. Then she'll think my friends "stink" and decide she wants to shop around a bit more. No thanks.

But really I doubt that it will work that way. If it does it will surely be an optional thing. It would just be annoying for orbs to be floating around if you don't know the person. It's interesting to see where my friends are, but not Joe Schmoe from weinersville.

Re: Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

I'm not sure I'd want people I don't know in my game either but obviously thats a personal choice, some people might like the idea of playing with random folk. I don't have that kind of faith in the XBL crowd in general but I can imagine LH giving us that choice, they're all about choice.

Re: Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

I agree completely with both of you, as you can see in my post a couple posts back. Copycats! Wink [;)]

But yeah, I don't trust anyone on XBL. The people on my FL have proven themselves to be trustworthy or just fun to play with. I trust if I say "I'm gonna turn the safety off since you're an E v i l [Evil] hero, but don't murder my family" that they won't kill my family. Like the one guy said right above you Saent (sorry I forgot his name), who knows what they can do to mess up your world even with the safety on. I don't want my wife to start hating me cause someone keeps belching in her face or something.

If I am playing a game, and someone who is not on my friends list joins, and I can't kick them out, I will turn off my xbox at that same moment.

That's insane! Fable 2 is exactly the kind of game I'd like to play with a friend. It makes up for that turd Two Worlds.

Please never mention that game again.
ANNDDD Fable 2 co-op is awesome. We have to move on from playing games alone, games now are about doing things together. Next-gen gaming must be embraced!!

Re: Co-Op Not Just With Friends?

please provide a link or don't tell them there's another thread.  What you are doing is just another version of 'use the search bar'.

There are 3 settings for the orbs: off, friends and everyone.  Everyone will show orbs that for anyone that is in the same area as you, obviously there is a limit to how many will be shown.
