What games are you looking forward to and why?
We have a what are you playing?! thread, but not one for the games that you are looking forward to coming out ... I try to stay abreast of all the new games that are coming out, but I do miss them from time to time ... It's something that meant I've never played God Of War or Silent Hill ... and I am unsure weather to pick up (like I did with MGS4) the end game from a trilogy (GoWIII) because I feel I have missed out on the previous games, this of course means that I'll have to go and buy them but I am now worried they'll feel old and dated, especially the original Silent Hill game ... Anyways, enough waffle, lets see what people are really looking forward to playing, hopefully we can spread some relatively unknown gems around as well. Personally at the moment I am looking forward to getting my grubby hands on Mirrors Edge the most, it just looks beautiful ... and has such an intreauging interface that if they pull it off will be one of the most novel playing styles on any game. I'm also looking forward to Dead Space, a lot ... They have this "animated comic" that sets the scene for it and I flicked one on thinking "yeah this'll be crap" and it wasn't ... the fact that it is a blatant rip off of Aliens just means that you KNOW the story is going to be ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) I'm not really that fussed about the whole "zero-G" aspect that they keep tarting about, but considering Doom 3 was such a let down for me, then I think that Dead Space might just be the game I thought Doom 3 would be ... It reminds me of The Suffering in a strange way, not sure if anyone else played that game, but it seriously freaked me out! Well worth a go if you can find it. The more I see of Little Big Planet, the more new pairs of underpants I need to buy it looks that ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) ! Words cannot express how much I can't wait for that game. Another one would have to be Final Fantasy XIII I ordered it for the PS3 way back, so that is the format I will stick with I think ... I am a Final Fantasy fanboy and have every single one of the games ... V, VI, VII, VIII and IX for the PSone, X, X-2 and XII for the PS2 (and I don't include XI because it isn't really final fantasy it's just an MMO in the guise of Final Fantasy ...) and I have picked up I and II for the PSP and III and IV I have kicking about somewhere as well, might be on the DS? ![Tongue Tied [:S]](/emoticons/emotion-7.gif) not sure though ... Anyways, there's the reason I want XIII ... On top of that I discovered Fallout 3 yesterday and realised I had missed out on another ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) series of games from my own inability to follow new releases (it's a long running problem ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) ) ... I'm also intreagued to see what MAG has to offer ...It has the potential to be insane and do away with all the problems normally associated with an online multiplayer for an FPS ... I mean 256 people is enough to mean camping isn't really and option and it could also mean that luck comes into it as much as skill as well (like in a real war). Anyways, that's my wishlist, wondering what everyone else has on theirs ...

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Heavy Rain, loved fahrenheit even if the story went crap at the end but it was still a story driven game with morale choices and lots of way to affect the story, also it took itself quite seriously and even had sex scenes in it and to be honest it did add to the game. Alan Wake : Well dont know much about it but Remedy are ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) devs and it looks story driven like heavy rain and the theme of the game just interests me alot. Little big planet : Purely for gameplay and making fun levels, I am however pissed that they cut the import photos from hd to game option and want us to buy their crappy webcams we will never use again. Silent hill 5 : New team but it looks like they know what they are doing, the fighting still looks bad but that has never really been what SH is about, lots of ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) characters and a great story, love silent hill because there is so much symbolism in the game, read this just to get an idea. Last but not least of course Final Fantasy 13 and Versus 13, been a ff fanboy since i played ff7 on my ps1 but i sure as hell dont hope they will delay the ps3 version if the 360 version isnt done when the ps3 one is (it is being released in japan first for ps3 exclusive then they will port it to 360 while also adding english to the ps3 game for everywhere else). Erm hmm not many more games other than the yearly updates of Pes09, fifa09 and football manager 09, fallout looks interesting but still just like a oblivion mod, mirrors edge also looks interesting but with DICE and EA everything can go wrong, dead space i really dont get the hype about no matter how many gameplay videos i see, looks like the game you would get if you hit the random generic action game button. Jazzhat:
A game with a horrible name and sounds like a cheap battlefield ripoff, who know it might be ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) but i doubt it. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RadpFEwtTSE

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
In the immediate short term: Gears of War 2, mainly because I have a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) group of friends and we have a lot of fun playing Gears 1 online socially. Mirror's Edge does look very interesting, and FPS with the emphasis on exploration rather than shooting is unusual. I hear there's a demo due for this soon, so that will go some way to making me decide if it's worth it or not. Fallout 3, cause I loved Oblivion and this looks like a lot of fun. F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin, cause I'm one of the few people that adored the first one. Anyone doing game AI should have a look at that first game, they do some really clever things in there. Valkyria Chronicles, cause it's by the Skies of Arcadia team, it's in my favourite genre (turn based strategy) and it has an utterly fantastic pencil sketch aesthetic to it. In the longer term: Heavy Rain, because I think Quantic Dream are really going to nail the basic game design they've been building on since Nomad Soul, and interactive fiction is an area that interests me academically. Tales of Vesperia, which isn't out in Europe till next year, just looks so damn pretty. And probably others I've forgotten about.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Well, I'm only looking forward to 2 games really. Mainly Fable II which comes out 1 day after my birthday here because of the fact that I loved Fable 1 and I think this one will be excellent. Gears of War 2 because of the fact that I have a lot of friends that will be getting it and I have seen some previews, they look really great.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
well i am looking foreward to fable 2 (i don't really need to tell you why) and i was looking foreward to star wars the force unleashed but when i read some of the reviews it seemed that they didn't balance the game out properly so decidided not to get it. and i might take a look at halo wars i think it has ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) potential for a game.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
In the very near future there is only X3 - Terran Conflict that seems interesting (release is next month). I always liked those kind of games: Elite, Privateer, Freelancer and finally the X series. X3 looks very promising with the better interface to control your Empire. The galaxy is soon to be enslaved by me once again. ![Mad []](/emoticons/mad.gif) Maybe GTA4 is on my list too later this year, although I'm not so much looking forward to it as it seems always a bit more of the same in the GTA franchise. Hopefully it has a story because the main charackter looks very promising. In the far future I'm looking forward for Dragon Age, Mafia 2, Star Craft 2 and Diablo 3. Probably more that I forgot about right now. I usually find the interessting games short before they are released and forget about them in between the time they've been announced. This way you miss the hype, but can't be very dissapointed when a game turns out ***. Most recent example being Spore. I read about it first over a year ago and never really followed the hype for this game. I had a big hope that it would become a great game, but forgot about it completely until the release. Now I'm dissapointed a bit, but not as much as I would have probably been if I followed every news about this game.

Fable 2 mostly. I will also play Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, and probably Gears of War 2. But I will spend the rest of this month starting at midnight on the 21st - November playing Fable 2.
 Always searching for....Rakuen

Me too, the first one scared me with those invisible dudes that climb walls and stuff and move at extreme fast speeds.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
All of the Quake games (1 to 4) and Doom 3. Its just the detailed mapmaker that gets me. And I never had a TRUE first-person shooter game for PC, other than Catchumen, The War in Heaven, and the trial verison for Quake 1.
I'm also looking forward to Mortal Kombat Am, Dc, and Da. Fighting game with blood and gore = Something new. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
The games I look forward to the most, have yet to be announced. Such include:
-Alan Wake. Looks simply.. amazing.. and I'm not usually a sucker for graphics, as I have a Wii (Ha, ha.) Also sounds just.. I can't describe how I feel really. xD Excited!
-New Zelda title. Of course.
-The next game produced by Team Ico, who brought such games as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, both of which never got the attention they deserved, but were definitely 'revolutionary' games, in terms of atmosphere, art direction, story telling, and gameplay.
-Tomb Raider: Underworld. Never played a TR game before, but this looks cool. I'm a history/mythology fanatic myself, so the story and environment looks very appealing to me.
-Fable 2, obvious, shouldn't even bother putting it here. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)
..Those are all RPGs, aren't they? ..Hmm..

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Saints Row 2, provided they fix the multiplayer lag, should be a nice, more customizable, more over the top, less serious, and less realistic GTA type game.
Far Cry 2 looks like it should end up being a great open world first person shooter with plenty of room for experimentation. That's always a thing in my book.
Left 4 Dead, provided it's , sounds interesting for co-op.
If they can ever add inverted look controls to Silent Hill: Homecomming, I also want to get it because I love the Silent Hill franchise.
Star Ocean 4 looks promising, provided they keep at least the same level of depth (talents, professions, etc.) as previous Star Ocean titles.
Heavy Rain is the only reason I would ever buy a PS3. I love Quantic Dream. They have never let me down.
I want to get the GOTY Edition of Mass Effect when it comes out for the 360.
Fallout 3 is a must for me because it's Bethesda and they, like Bioware and Quantic Dream, have never let me down.
I'm hoping the new Suikoden title for the DS will live up to the old school (read: Suikoden I and II) titles in the series.
An epic driving game called Fuel that takes place in a huge open world with dynamic weather looks potentially promising to me (huge tornadoes and other weather events change the landscape, forcing you to take a different route, and it's all dynamic.)
Rage should be interesting, along with Doom 4 when it eventually sees the light of day.
I'm still holding out for Duke Nukem Forever, too. Lol.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. There are plenty more on a big list I have lol.
My apologies for any typos as I currently cannot see the screen well. This will be temporary.

Well i was not going to get Far cry 2 but after watching some game play movie and reading more about the game i am actually quite excited in getting it. Just under 2 weeks away from release i think. Or could be next month...
Anyway i think running around Africa would be awesome.Game hunting, yeah game hunting, that is what i am going to be doing most of the time i think.Well they better have animals to shoot in the game!

I've read on a few forums that realistically killing animals was removed from the game because of moral issues. Nothing official though. And predatory animals won't be included, for balance reasons.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Yup, bit of a pain in the bum, really. Two expressions from the Qur'an in one of the songs the Devs licensed, and it gets delayed for a week (it looks like it's shipping week starting 27th for US at any rate - not sure if Europe will take longer for purely logistical reasons...)
Still, I suppose the slightest whiff of scandle inevitably means more copies of the game sold, so if you want to be optimistic that means more chance of quality community content being generated
