    The fight for Xeon.

As Eden aged, people had no need for gods. What would once have been solved with miracles was solved with bloodshed. Lands once ruled by deities was ruled under a mortal hand. But all their power had to go somewhere. As the strength of the gods diminished, and their numbers dwindled, a select few mortals realised divine powers. Generation after generation more and more of these gifted people were born, each more powerful then their predecessors.
And thus opened the world of magic. For over a century the world lived peacefully, united by shared power over this magic. The Aztecs and the Greeks forged a powerful alliance, and even shared a Capital, Xeon. This city was the largest on the planet, ruled by the leaders of the tribes. The Greek ruler ruled the West, and the Aztec ruled the East of the city. Both were powerful, and relied on their mages to support the city. Warlocks, under the Aztec ruler's command, protected the city from crime and mages, under the command of the Greek ruler, made sure fields were wall watered, and buildings were kept in G o o d [Good] condition.
To celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of Xeon, a massive festival took place in the castle. Everyone from across the land was invited. For three days feasts were laid out for all, rich and poor. The people of Eden, of all tribes and professions, were united once more, to celebrate one hundred years of peace between the two tribes.
But, as the festival was drawing to a close, the Aztec leader had vanished. No one knew, and no one knows, what happened to him. The only clue was his golden necklace, found in the possession of the Greek ruler. A terrible uprising occurred. Aztecs wanted his blood to be spilt, but the Greeks wanted his life to be spared, convinced he was innocent. And from this the fighting started once more, for the first time in a century. Xeon was abandoned and, convinced that magic was the cause of the disappearance of their leader, the Aztecs sentenced everyone with power over magic to death, rounding up anyone they could find and killing them. Very few survived, but there were enough left to create a new tribe, united by fear and hatred. The Divinities practised their magic, refining it and perfecting their abilities. Mages and Warlocks, fighting alongside each other for the first time since the height of Xeon, defending themselves against both the Aztecs and the Greeks. The Aztecs were convinced the Greeks used magic to banish their ruler, and no one - not even the Aztec Warlocks - were spared their wrath. The Greeks believed the same, that Mages and Warlocks killed the Aztec leader, but had framed the Greeks to escape punishment for their crimes.
It was this that started a three way war, between the Aztecs, the Greeks and the Divinities.
As the Divinities grew in strength, more types of mage appeared. As well as the standard Mage, not limited to any specific field but not particularly talented in any, and Warlocks, strong magical fighters, other magical races appeared. Dwarves had magical strength, making up for their lack of height with immense power, and people with seemingly no magic had the power to read, and even control, minds. These were only a few new tribes of the Divinities. As the magic of their tribe grew, so did the variety.
And so they decided it was time to rule the world, and give Eden divine rulers once more. Not gods this time, but mages, of all types. And to start, they needed a capital. And the ideal place was Xeon.

    Re: The fight for Xeon.

"Are you sure this is wise?" asked Tarek, one of the most powerful warlocks of the Divinities.
"Of course it is." The young mage Shan answered "If we don't cross the river we'll never return to camp by dawn. We've only got a few hours, and at this rate we won't make it. The army will leave without us."
Tarek rolled his eyes, apparently unconcerned by this idea.
"I'm sure that's true, but do you really think it's going to make much difference when we drown because we tried to get across a fast flowing river half a mile wide on the back of a log?"
"Do you have any better ideas?" Shan said.
"Just one." Tarek replied, raising his hands and stepping onto the path of ice that just appeared. "Now hurry, I'm not strong enough to keep this ice here for too long and I don't want to take my chances with that log."
The two of them, Shan slightly shamed by Tarek's powers, made their way across the ice path.
"Be careful." Tarek warned. "It's thick enough to walk on, but it's still slippy. I'm not swimming after you if you fall in."

"Any word from the scouts yet?" The Leader, another warlock, asked. The sky above the camp was starting to turn a dark blue, and in the distance a slight hint of light was visible. Dawn was coming, and that was when they had to make their move. It was impossible to cross through the forest at night, dark magic had tainted nature and turned it against anything that dared face it. The Sun seemed to be the only thing that could stop the woodland somehow magically setting someone aflame.
"Ten of eleven groups have returned, sire. No Greek or Aztec troops have been found surrounding the woods, and we know no mortal being would dare enter a place of such dark magic. Any troops who did try to make their way into the forests are long dead by now." The soldier told him.
The Leader nodded. It was G o o d [Good] news, the best any Leader could hope for. Leaders were in charge of small but strong armies fighting their way towards Xeon, paving the way for the rest of the troops. To keep their identities secret from their enemies, they were never referred to by name. They were only ever referred to as 'The Leader' by their troops, and the names of their armies to the higher ranking Divinities. This Leader's army was the Lion squad, and no army had ever got as far as they had. A few miles behind them the rest of the Divinities had set up camp, and for a few months all the armies and Divinities had stayed together, training new soldiers and appointing new armies. The area had been completely secured and no enemy soldiers were around for miles, so it was safe to move on.
"And the eleventh scout group?" The Leader asked.
"No news I'm afraid sire. We only have an hour until sunrise and we'll have to leave immediately, so no enemies manage to get into the forests before us."
The Leader nodded glumly. He'd never lost a single solider before, and he didn't want to now. Not when the Divinities were so close to Xeon.
"Right." He said. "We'll wait as long as we can. Send advanced forces into the woods ahead of us to secure the area, it'll be safer that way and it'll give us about an hour to wait for the scouts."

"At last, here we are." Tarek sighed, walking into the camp.
"We're late." Shan muttered. "They've left, there's no one here." He said, gazing at the empty tents. "The sun's up and the tents are abandoned, we've missed them. We'll never catch up with them."
Tarek was getting tired of Shan by now. They'd been searching acre after acre of grassland and hills in search of an enemy, and after a couple of hours Tarek had been hoping to find one just to distract from Shan's pessimistic whining.
"Well if there's no one here, why did they leave the tents?" Tarek said, amazed Shan hadn't noticed something so obvious.

The two of them walked further into the camp and approached The Leader's tent.
"Her we are, he'll be inside. They've probably just sent troops in to make sure the place is safe and there aren't any ambushes waiting. You never know with those clever Greeks, they might have found a way to get in at night safely..." Tarek mutterred. He opened the flap to the tent and walked in. "Come on Shan."

They walked in and saw The Leader sat at his desk, one of his knives besides him.
"Wait..." Tarek said, frowning. HE slowly walked towards him and, to his horror, discovered thatthe knife wasn't The Leader's at all. He could feel no magic radiating from it, like all the Divinities weapons had, and it had Aztec markings on it. But worse than that, much worse, was that it was covered in a light blue blood. No mortal, only powerful Divinities, had blue blood.
"Leader?" He gasped, looking towards him and fearing the worst.

This is G o o d [Good] Undead, hopefully this story will continue to develop. Oh, I wanted to say that this story is a G o o d [Good] break from all those about gods.

Thanks, but it's pretty experimental. I'm hoping to post new chapters at some point but I started just to find out what it would be like writing from a different angle, and now I've done that the drive to write has gone Stick out tongue [:P]. Still, I'm sure inspiration will come from somewhere.
