    Re: Forum Rank Levels?

You rank up by posting a lot. Not many people care about it really, just ignore it.
Some people are mistaken by thinking they are better than everybody else because they are "senior members", most of the time they gained their "rank" by spamming, don't spam. Wink [;)]

Rank means nothing like this guys says. Most of the senior members are friendly people who contribute their vauled ideas to the community.

Not me, I love to spam the forums and put all of the rookies in their place.  Not really mate, rank is nothing on the forums except how much time we have to waste.  If you do need any help, or some assistance, you can always pm one of us, or a moderator, which sometimes takes a while to get a reply from.

The Karma system is what they used for the older forums... They still use the Rank system.

    Re: Forum Rank Levels?

When we had vBulletin, the karma that we are speaking of was points that we gained, or lost, when people repped another.  If you made a G o o d [Good], contibuting post, people would (+)Rep you.  If you made a bad post, like spamming, or just making a downright awful, offensive post, you got (-)Rep.
If you had enough negative points, you would be put under as Low Karma and Very Low Karma (there was a certain number of points that lead to this).  After that, you would automatically get banned.  I used to love the day when we had Karma because the people that got banned would almost 90% of the time would come back as an alternate account and spam the forums. Stick out tongue [:P]
Positive Karma meant that if you would have enough points, you would gain a Medium Karma, and eventually a High Karma badge.  The High Karma members had their own little forum as well.
But, none of that stuff exists anymore.  Post Count is pretty worthless.  But admins give out badges like Disciple, Modder, Lurker, G o o d [Good] Member, etc... these days.  But that is only a pick and choose sort of thing.

Then again... Its all pretty worthless.

Only thing the G o o d [Good] Member badge is really G o o d [Good] for is making me look pretty! Wink [;)]

    I detect sarcasm!

...But no... These badges do have a meaning orther then making my posts neat looking.

Still... They are still pretty useless... I can't really think of one G o o d [Good] reason how they are useful.

    Surprise [:O]

Spammers often tire themselves out when they try to become a senior member. I think most senior members aren't spammers.

    Re: Forum Rank Levels?

Forum ranks, titles and badges all work like this :

The more you want one, the less likely you are to get one.

If you do get one, it's not going to be the one you wanted.

People who have one telling you that getting one is no big deal and you shouldn't worry about it will only make you want one more.

    Re: Forum Rank Levels?

As clarified most people assume if they got a high-rank on a major companies forums they'll get noticed and "supposedly" get a job or something. Was a major issue over at Blizzard Entertainment.

Basically it means everything you said was pure fantasy. Nobody's ever said that they want to get a high rank to get a job at Lionhead and nobody else said that was the case.

    Re: Forum Rank Levels?

I dunno about that. I know I've been after a job at Lionhead for a while now, collecting badges to prove my worth and whatnot. I don't have a blind clue what I'd do like, probably something cushy like 'Lead Designer' but hey. A condom can dream.
