    If there was one thing...

If there was one thing in the whole fable series you would NEVER take out, what would it be?

For me, i think that the lighting would be my choice, it gives the game its charm.

NOTE: The game remains fable, the story doesnt change just an element of the game itself.

The third person perspective. I much prefer it to the first person perspective of other WRPGs.

The humor, but I doubt that's ever gonna leave anyway.

    What's a WRPG?

Well to tell the truth, they kind of implemented a bit too much humor. (At least IMO.) What I mean is during alot of situations, including key plot events (Ex: *spoilers* Lucian's death, with Reaver just making a casual remark about it. Well, then again...that is his character to be uncaring and humorous. So that might not be the best example). What the point is, if they really want to make us feel emotion (PM specifically), they need to make like a darker tone and setting for Fable 3. (Think like a sort of Fable version of Majora's Mask.) Now the dog, oh yes, he was a G o o d [Good] fella whom I truly cared for. (Now if only they could get us to feel other emotions like fear, sadness, or perhaps even guilt.) (Actually, I kind of felt sorry for Lucien as well. Pity. I mean he was just a guy wanting to resurrect his family. That desire, along with the overwhelming power the Spire had, seemed to corrupt him. If you read his diary, you can actually hear the emotion in his voice. The pain of loss and yearning for his wife and daughter, the determination to bring them back, the regret he holds to the pain he has caused others. [I'd even be willing to say he was a G o o d [Good] guy, if not maddened by understandable ambition.])

On-topic: The mystery of the Fable world. The music from Fable 1 always gives this mystical, unknown feeling to it. (It actually makes me want to know the origin of all of Albion for some reason.)

I continue to observe from the reclusive confines of what was once sanctuary to legends. I watch...forever praying for the second forthcoming of heros...

The humour was great. It's very British humour I felt, it's one of those things I was moderatly suprised worked as well with an international audience as it did. In fact the whole game feels very British to me which was one of the things I loved about it (although admittedly I'm kinda biased being a Londoner Stick out tongue [:P]). Then again maybe you apply your own cultural interpretations to it. When I play it I pick up an old English highwaymen, pirate, dickensian kind of vibe; but when I did co-op with an American they were seeing early American / U.S independance / Benjamin Franklin kinda vibes from it.

Oh meaning mostly action focused Western RPGs as in Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect, etc; as opposed to the mostly turn based anime stylings of Japanese RPGs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Star Ocean, etc. I like both types btw. Although I don't think Fable II fits any genre definition neatly seeing as it has so many simulation elements of which PM has been bringing to his games since Populus. Smily [:)]

I also felt that way like an oliver twist type of setting/feel.

The one thing i would not want gone is art style. How everything is styalized and a bit obblong. The buildings, the clothing, the people, the forests especially. I guess this also fits in the catagory of art style, the music. Like sombody already said, It makes you want to explore the history and culture of the world.

Re: If there was one thing...

    Hmm... the premise.

    * The hero must visually reflect his experiences.
    * The world and its residents must react in a manner appropriate to the player's actions.

But, if we're looking at it from another angle, then I'd say... after going through several options ranging from Grimm to 'Fable' to morphing to villagers to humour to customization... it would have to be... the "loose wrists" approach to RPGs. Maybe. Hmm [^o)]
