when i was playing fable 2 it seems none of the quests were working  like it was not letting me talk to the butler of castle fairfax didnt let me enter the collesum and it said

on current task to leave the arena even though i was bowerstone. so should i download knothole island or unupdate my console. if i unupdate will i lose my hero

You can't talk to people to start quests?

I don't know what you mean by "unupdate"

You mention the collesum, so I am assuming you bought See the Future, is that when you started experiencing problems?

Based on your description I really do not understand what your problem is either - but your Hero Save and the Game updates are seperate files, so you can remove and re-download the update without losing your Hero.

I've run into this before - it usually is associated with unfunished dialogue.  Based on what you've written so far my guess is that you ran away from Murgo before he said all he has to say. Either that or if you can remember what quest you were attempting to initiative before you could not talk with others - try going up to that character to see if there is any more "non-cut-scene" cut-scene.
