    Re: wat

We don't know for sure. Not much has been revealed about Fable III other than a very basic storyline and some concept art.

    Re: wat

PM liked the idea a lot, so I'm assuming yes.

He might make it optional this time or at least give the dog a muzzle. =P

    P.S. Is that Pedobear?

    Re: wat

I just hope they fixed on issue with the dog I had.

Here I am beating the crap out of baddies, while my dog is next to me, barking up a storm because he found a dig spot that has a rusty necklace. Instead of worrying about yapping to get me to come over there, give me a hand with these bandits!

They should put a "muzzle" on him when it comes to combat and make a him a little more useful.

I'm hoping not. Without the dog, the world seems bigger plus they could fit more in.

I don't want a dog, maybe a Raven or an Eagle or something like that?
Legend says there were three, The Knight of Blades, The Jack of Blades and The Queen of Blades.

But one more stepped from the Void, The Ace of Blades. Who watched from the shadows.

    Re: wat

I hope so. It would feel empty without a dog now that we have had the luxury of having one.

    Re: wat

I'm hoping for the ability to have pets other than a dog myself.

But I'm 100% certain that if there is a dog or any kind of animal companion, it won't be nearly as important as in Fable II.

    Re: wat

In one of the concept pieces there is a dog, so i'm guessing they are keeping the dog, plus they spent so much time making the dog for fable 2 i doubt they will scrap it.
Hopefully they will improve the mechanics of the dog if they do keep it, like improving its fighting and its G o o d [Good] and E v i l [Evil] morphing

That still could be Sparrow's dog and that could be Sparrow on the throne.

    Re: wat

How long after the events of fable 2 is fable 3, 50 years? Yeah, that dog is dead, really dead.

I kinda like the idea of getting pets, it does not have to be something that is very usefull, more just for looks, maybe an owl or an eagle or so could be used to scout for treasures.

    Re: wat

Your dog was about 23 in Fable 2 and still acted like a puppy.

I'm sure that dog lasted 50 years.

Doubtful.  They'll probably leave the ending to F2 open like they did with F1, or will pull it straight from your save game.  It's very hard to believe that they'd up and say "So in the 50 years that passed, your F2 character completely changed his looks and personality and now he's like this."  Plus, it wouldn't be doing them any G o o d [Good] to draw up concept art on characters from a previous game.

It's almost certain that there will be a dog in F3.  How it's introduced, its role in the game, and all other details are all still speculation, but removing the dog completely would be taking a step backwards, and that's not how Lionhead does things.  They never chuck features out... just try to improve them by changing and expanding them.

Yeah, like the fact that it has no teeth, it's bone-thin, and it's lower jaw is a half an inch thick.

I would love to see a dog in again. Maybe some other pets, if they make sense. I don't want any of that "MINIATURE DRAGUNZ LOL" bullshit. As my name may suggest, I love ravens. What would be neat is if you could have a raven, eagle, or some other slightly large bird that you could send flying. When it got back, all the enemies in their last known position would be highlighted. However, I don't see how that would work in a town. What would it do? Sit on your shoulder? I don't want to have my character view blocked by a massive eagle, and a floating bird doesn't make sense to me.

Back to the dog. If LH does bring the dog back, which they probably will, they definitely need to make some changes. Smarter AI (although the current AI is quite G o o d [Good]), fighting abilities, and better morphing. I hated the whole breed change when you're alignment was switched. Maybe a subtle hue change, and then more of a demon-like look for the E v i l [Evil] types and vice-versa for the G o o d [Good]ly peoples.

Btw, I never noticed the Guild Seal symbol above the King's head. Very interesting.

EDIT: I didn't notice the chicken either O.o

So that's why my dog can take more damage than me and only get a limp instead of getting knocked out... Genius, you've revealed the secret plot point of the Fable games.

    I wouldn't mind having a Domesticated Hobbe.

Or a Chicken for a pet. That would be fun. how would it assist you in battle though? :/

    Ever heard of *** Fighting?
One of those enhanced roosters could inflict some serious damage on a bandit!
I really like the idea of the birds, but a falcon was primarily what they used then, and they'd perch on this thick leather glove you wore. They are really smart birds and could collect rabbits and such that you had hunted.
In fable III it would be cool to see the falcon fly over to the gold pouches and bring them back.

A domesticated Hobbe would be hilarious!
Don't take me seriously, unless I'm serious.

    Re: wat

Don't listen to what I was sayin' last month.  I was being a fanboy.

But it does still seem like not including the dog would be a step backwards.  Just fix it, don't remove it!

Another point: one big difference between Fables 1 and 2 is that in number 1, there are lots of other Heroes that you adventure and compete with throughout the story.  In Fable 2, there are only 4 Heroes left in the world.  There's no Guild, no new Heroes coming, and the old ones are leaving.  You're alone.

Except you have a dog!  Your dog is your company, your buddy throughout the game instead of Whisper and the occasional Briar Rose.  So if things go the way they went in Fable 1 where you have lots of recurring characters, a dog doesn't need to fill that role of companionship.  But I'm thinking it'll get even lonelier in Fable 3, especially since you're being singled out as King with no friends but starstruck, braindead villagers.  If that's the case, I want my freaking dog-pal!
