He brandishes his weapons to show what his skill is. He is very old, and one of his eyes is gone, so that has to mean he's got a tough fight in him, not to mention all the pain and death he's already seen. Now he takes it in with just one of his eyes. He's got to be pretty good if he's still ready for more.
