Don't use Fraps for anything other that screenies!! It's not the best for Motion recording.
Should you find your movie is too long;
Split it up into more than one part. (You don't have to save it), but rather take a note of the scenes you are 'UP - To'.
Then, once exported, delete the scenes you have ...

It's a common problem, I'm sure we've all faced it from time to time, i do on the occasion. And my studio's are somewhat small with very few actors to manage.
The import star icon is where this problem shows. Correct me if I'm wrong; it fails to highlight doesn't it.
