Um... are you all sure this is a glitch? Wouldn't it make sense that after 10 years, your spouse leaves you and your child doesn't recognize you? I think that's just the continuation of the story. Not a glitch. Even the manual says that if you don't keep your family happy and come back to see them frequently, that they will leave you.
