I'm also having a problem with this quest. We've done everything else, finished the game and we're lacking just this quest to finish everthing up till the expansion pack comes out. This is beyond irritating. Please patch this soon.

I have the missing spouse problem also. Did the ghost/alex quest, got married, kept her in the Gypsy camp for a while, then found the demon door at Oakfield, thought proposing in front of it would be an easy way to open it up, moved her in and ended up with a kid. Did the spire quest, came back, no Alex anywhere. Marital Status still listed as ...
