I personally would have liked to see a scripted morality choice on every quest you get from the guild hall. My character, for instance, isn't going to go on a trader massacre, and there is no counterpart quest to take. I realize though that budgets tend to hold production back, so I learn not to expect perfection from any game.

This is a long shot, and unlikely to work even if you haven't tried yet, but walk over to the cullis gate and see if it lets you teleport directly from there.Another possibility depends on what you're playing on, but if it's PC, and you are holding G to use the seal, try using it from the inventory or hotbar.

Fable TLC is originally for PC, though it was later ported to an Xbox version. I'm not 100% sure on the timeline for when each was released, but I know there is at least a version of Fable TLC for the PC, and a modding program already released.

Maybe this is just for me, but on my copy of tlc, I have never had to try more than twice to get the key. Regardless which books i pick each time, It's always the second try that gets me the key. ...It unlocks the locked house right outside the gate with the bell over it, actually. There is a sign on the other side of the road pointing to the house, naming it the ashfield house.
